Tender process contaminated. Many dinners/meetings, and also monthly meetings that McCourt had with ‘government’. What now for the Secretary General – who McCourt implicated in his Pee Flynn type interview with Tubridy?
And yet again, the holding to account of this government falls to everyone except FF.

    Farage on The Late late.

If he was so concerned about lost independence then why didn’t he put his money where his mouth is and go into government when he had the chance? Oh yeah, and Irish people were not immigrants apparently.

    What a weasel.

“Ultimately, Irish people don’t really know what they’re supposed to think about Brexit”. We definitely don’t need John Waters to tell us.

His article shows no understanding of trade. We trade more with the rest of the EU than the UK and the rest of our international trade is facilitated by being part of the worlds biggest trade grouping.

On the Irish times. Since the cervical scandal and the massive payouts by the courts the cost for each test has almost doubled. The labs don’t want to provide the Service any more.
The result? Ireland will take on the existing staff as public servants, and assume full liability for any future mistakes.

Waters is symptomatic of the many small men who were left behind by Ireland, he watched with amusement as the country faced the abyss after the crash, with his ilk, those unable or unwilling to construct anything, he hopes he can build on others misfortune and dissolution, not a sound foundation I’m sure you would agree, Brexit has the same foundations , and irrespective of the fantastic designs Boris or Nigel have for it , which incidentally they refuse to share with anyone and allow others to direct . Brexit too, an aspiration in itself admirable in some aspects, but it’s foundations will sink it

Yes the people who took offence at being called a homophobe. And then people had to audacity to defy his views not once but twice in consecutive referendums.

Of course he would never admit that his actions prior to the first helped mobilise activists because it roused Rory O’Neill into making one of the best LGBT+ civil rights speeches of all times.

Ah here now, you deleted a YouTube link of Panti Bliss’s Abbey speech? Since when did that become unacceptable on BroadSheet?

    Today’s #despitebrexit news.

LONDON (Reuters) – Britain has extended its lead in the global currency trading business in the two years since it voted to leave the European Union, in another sign London is likely to continue to be one of the world’s top two financial centres even after Brexit.
Leaving the European Union was supposed to deal a crippling blow to London’s position in global finance, prompting a mass exodus of jobs and business. But with eight months to go, London has tightened rather than weakened its grip on foreign exchange trading, a Reuters analysis shows.

Yes Oliver , London or rather the City will thrive , in this modern age they as we saw in Ireland are too big to fail, odd that the normal Brexiter voter who despise the city will have in effect enabled the very entity ‘the City’ to become stronger , the very entity that directed the policy’s that led to their jobs and manufacturing bases being decimated by lower wages and zero hour contracts, to support higher dividends to shareholders. For Brexiters immigration was seen as the cause of these policy’s rather than just a symptom , Europe was just a fall guy.

      1. Elm wood

The only blip on the near horizon for the City will be when some politician decides that their dividends need to trickle down to Bolton and Scarborough , someone shall we say like Corbyn , money is very fickle , when or if that threat materializes , the international markets will relocate as suits them,

” The normal Brexiteer who despise the city ”
I’m not sure how you know the personal views of 17.4 million Leave voters many of whom would have had different reasons for voting as they did.
But I can’t say I’ve ever heard Brexiteers despising the city.
It’s a valuable part of the UK’s economy and generates the income that pays the pensions of millions of people.
Pension funds from all walks of life owe their success to the City of London.
The City also provides the capital for industry which creates the jobs – half a million since the Brexit referendum.
This cliché that the downtrodden masses hate the city fat cats is,well, just a cliché.
