    Casey will receive >21%

There would have been a fairer race but for the fake narrative delivered by the MSIM

No poll published that reflected opinions for almost 2 weeks by polling day! They clear knew PC was gaining and didn’t want to cover the story as it would have helped PC.

RTE should be defunded, Sean O’Rourke sneering at PC Thursday saying PC may have doubled his vote from 1% to 2% and that MDH was on almost 70%

SOR was quoting the 2 week old poll and making it sound like it was up to date. Outrageous

Manipulated broadcasting but the public is increasingly aware of their shenanigans and dirty ops.

Varadkar too, actively telling voters NOT to vote for PC, when have we ever witnessed such utterances.

Wanting equality for all does not equal racism. The Irish left/liberals/hacks have been exposed, the people are smarter than the cabal credit.

Casey, thank you for your honesty.

“Varadkar too, actively telling voters NOT to vote for PC, when have we ever witnessed such utterances.”

When have we witnessed the leader of a political party telling us to vote a certain way?

Oh, only EVERY ELECTION EVER. Are you seriously that thick?

      1. baz

Do keep up, I know you’re busy throwing personal childish insults but I also believe you need a schooling…

        https://www.google.ie/amp/s/amp.breakingnews.ie/ireland/latest-leo-varadkar-hits-out-at-peter-casey-over-traveller-comments-876557.html

There’s a difference between saying ‘vote for MDH’ and telling voters to reject a candidate because of Varadkars spin on PCs comments

Show me where that’s happened before in an Irish Presidential campaign

        You can’t.

      well said Baz.
Varadkar and his senior Fine Gael ministers condemning Peter Casey while pouring tea for M D Higgins spoke volumes about the preservation of the status quo.
I’m delighted to be part of the 21% that tried to disrupt that bullpoo.
also, RTE are still at it this morning claiming MD Higgins won by a landslide.
      He didn’t.

      1. SOQ

And what would Casey have done as president eh? He was already moving on to welfare claimants so his stance was far from a single issue. That man would have been an unmitigated disaster as president because he would have had people at each others throats. But Leo and co should have stayed out of it because it turned into a partisan election.

Protest votes against a government happen when there is a general election, not when electing a president. That is when you have the chance to show them what you think of them. The main thing learned out of this is that given the quality of candidates, the selection process is badly in need of an overhaul.

      2. Clampers Outside!

If he ends up with more than double, possibly even near triple, the nearest opponents votes, and against a total of five other runners… em, that is a landslide, in fairness… and it looks likely.

        1. Alan mc gee

Casey commanding 23% of votes does not in any way suggest a landslide victory for Higgins. 52% Is not a supermajority in any maths class

  2. Ollie Cromwell

The most important thing to come out of this vote is the turnout.
Irish people don’t give a toss.
That’s a worrying sign for democracy.
But then the EU have known this for decades.

    1. ReproButina

64.9% turnout to Repeal the 8th, 61% for marriage equality. How do those figures stack up with Irish people not giving a toss?

You can now blaspheme as much as you want but try saying anything critical about the Prophet Mohammed and see where that gets you.
    Paddy knows his place.
    Morto.

  4. DeKloot

Really interested to see what’ll happen after the first few eliminations and how the redistribution shake out….

    1. ReproButina

If MDH breaks 50% on the first count there’ll be no second count, no eliminations and no redistributions.

    2. bisted

…looks like Squee wins on the first count…no contest…all loose their deposit except Casey…

  5. A force for justice

His vote shows despite what the media report, people are sick of travellers & the excuses made by mainly middle class journalists on their behalf.

    It’s simple really.
But let’s not face up to reality.

    1. ReproButina

His vote shows 4/5ths of those who bothered to vote don’t support his calculated attack on a minority.

      1. SOQ

The real concern is that some other clown will follow his lead as a TD. Of course from a government’s perspective, it would be a great distraction.

      2. Nigel

It wasn’t calculated it was accidental, then it became opportunistic. If he tries to capitalise on it further, that would be calculated.

        1. ReproButina

Geraldine Kennedy on RTÉ just made the point that he was the only challenger to get any real coverage in the most boring campaign ever so the vote may be down to him standing out rather than anything he actually said.

          1. Nigel

What he said wasn’t even cohetent and he doesn’t seem to understand it himself. Conflating animus against travellers with anger at genuine government failings is the kind of irrational cognitive leap Trump makes all the time. But yeah a profoundly dull line-up made it easy for him to connect with people ready to be energised by someone saying bad things about poor people.

(And yes Higgins was the best equipped and positioned to stomp him like a bug but his strategy prevented him from doing so.)

          2. SOQ

As above, the selection process is badly in need of a review. County councils should not be the power brokers in who is allowed to run. GO’D’s point about having to be in 4-5 places at the one time is valid and the parish pump should be left out of it.

          3. Nigel

I susoect it’ll be treated like Seanad reform. Everybody agrees it needs to be done nobody ever does it.

          4. rotide

Gemma’s point wasn’t valid considering 4 candidates managed to do it.

The point about councils was that they shouldn’t be nominating people as some sort of nod to ‘the democratic process’. On air, Kennedy menioned that maybe Councils should have to pay some of the expenses for the people they nominate and maybe we wouldn’t see 3 dragons next time.

  6. Dub Spot

Going swimmingly well for you Brexit Bunters, isn’t it?

What with Rees-Mogg’s little punt Somerset Capital starting an investment vehicle in Dublin and Farage obtaining German passports for two of his kids.

    Keep it up!

  7. Troll Farmer

I’m not your sweethart, fool. Don’t be so creepy (you sound like Mille Murder for a Lark)

As for the votes, have you counted them already?

Or are you relying on the so-called Exit-Polls as Predictive Programming?

    1. Troll Farmer

      That was for Butina,

But the Snowflake Censors on BullSheet have gone demented this morning.

      Something in the air?

    2. rotide

Troll farmer predicting a shock even though all the candidates have conceded.

You can tell us all about the so called exit polls later

      1. Martco

:) I suspect poor oul @Charger might be under the Iain Duncan Smith misapprehension that the role of president actually matters.

      2. Troll Farmer

The biggest shock is that the establishment’s attempts to drive the narrative through lies, manipulation and deceit are now so blatantly obvious.

You’ll be lucky if Casey “only” gets 20%

Another con job on the voters.

        1. millie st murderlark

Is it always a ‘con job’ on the voters or is it just when you don’t agree with the results?

      1. ReproButina

That’s a mad story. One lunatic in a van managed to coordinate packages arriving in different parts of the US, including hand delivering two?

        1. Troll Farmer

          Totally Plausible Fake News, Innit.

Like yer man in the cave directing airplanes into skyscrapers.

        2. George

Why is it hard? There are many large organisation as that provide this service such as Fedex.
You must not have achieved much in life of you think this is difficult.

          1. ReproButina

I was suggesting that he wasn’t working alone. Not that it’s a false flag or fake news.

I hope the pointless insult helped you feel better about your life.

  8. Nigel

Casey: every time you buy a Jaguar you contribute to charity.
I swear to God he’s sounding exactly like the sort of people who have always been on top but now feel marginalised because you can’t say mean things about poor people without getting push-back’s idea of someone who’s in touch with the common people.
Oh now he’s a capitalist socialist.

    1. DeKloot

I don’t think I heard him utter one solitary, complete and coherent sentence during the entire campaign. His inability to finish a sentence and by extension a thought process is infuriating.

    2. missred

He tried to say on the radio last week about when he grew up in Derry and was discriminated against for being Catholic and so he left because he couldn’t even get a job there. When he thought to dump all over a maginalised group, he should have been reminded of the late Ian Paisley’s quote about Catholics breeding like rabbits and running around like vermin. But no journalists ever thought to bring this up
