I’m Asking Him To Change His Ways

at

Oh.

Yesterday.

IFSC, Dublin.

Fabulously indebted Denis O’Brien, former chairman of business college, the National College of Ireland, is conferred with an honorary fellowship of the National College of Ireland from Gina Quin, President of  the National College of Ireland and Leonard Mooney (right), current Chairman of the National College of Ireland.

It follows Mr O’Brien’s induction as honourary life president of the FAI last August.

Good times.

And yet, the riches of Croesus couldn’t buy the wit or finesse needed to render this thread’s lumpen, Spartist meanderings into something legible, if not entertaining. Signed, a friend of DOB

Isn’t there already a Denis O’Brien lecture theatre in the NCI? None of the students there seem to mind. Is NCI a real third-level college?

Kelly theatre is the main one.
Oddly no big mention of him in there.
      No bronze statue…

      It’s a real third-level college alright.
Probably found it’s niche for HR courses, but location is a factor for it’s success with part-time studies.

Yep. There is a Denis O’Brien commemorative learning space there.

It’s like Dublin Business School for non-blondes.

That gown is very flattering- he should really start a company marketing moo moos for successful businessmen- I am sure he would (fairly) win the contract for Irish County councillors.

Its a third-level institution in the sense that it caters for those who are too old for second-level education

He’s also going have change his key technology partner, the WSJ this morning front page big splash on Digicel’s critical infrastructure and hardware partner, they are also a key handset supplier. There was talk off Digicel attempting another IPO,that just ain’t going happen with these partners, not in the US of A !

“The U.S. government has initiated an extraordinary outreach campaign to foreign allies, trying to persuade wireless and internet providers in these countries to avoid telecommunications equipment from China’s Huawei Technologies Co., according to people familiar with the situation.”

Dennis must be appalled at these allegations, how’s those inspectors coming along at INM :)

“U.S. officials say they worry about the prospect of Chinese telecom-equipment makers spying on or disabling connections to a fast-n exponentially growing universe of things, including components of manufacturing plants.”

But in the 5G networks telecom carriers are preparing to install, cellular-tower hardware will take over some tasks from the core—and that hardware could potentially be used to disrupt the core via cyberattacks. For that reason, U.S. officials worry that Huawei or ZTE cellular-tower equipment could compromise swaths of a telecom network.”

Yep-ZTE is another key Digicel partner………

Some info on the extent that Dennis O’Brien relies on dodgy Chinese (state?) companies accused of espionage, which are effectively shut out of the US and shunned by many Western countries and companies, desperate times and all that……

“Stephen Ma, CEO of Huawei Technologies Caribbean office, comments; “Together, Digicel and Huawei have done something incredible in this test. Using Digicel’s skills and experience in telecommunications and Huawei Technologies Multi-Service Single FAN platform, we have, for the first time, brought multi-gigabit speeds to the Caribbean. This is a huge achievement and a very proud day for both organisations. Our partnership goes from strength to strength and we are very excited about what the future holds.”

On the list of problems Dennis O’Brien is facing,I’d say or hope I’m very low on it.As previously reported on here Dennis has been spending a tremendous amount of time recently in the Pacific, specifically PNG,focusing his ‘charitable’ efforts there and attending the CEO summit, at which perhaps due to the presence of Mike Pence who loathes Dennis for his outlandish Clinton donations,he was sideline like a red headed stepchild.
However,he managed in a soft Bloomberg interview to laud and applaud the extremely corrupt and disgraced PM.
Peter O’Neill was ripped a new one by The Guardian and the NYT, while Dennis was busy praising and kissing his a*s,he’s Dennis’s type of guy !

“O’Neill came to power in 2011 and has had corruption allegations levelled at him in the past, but according to some experts this is the first time he has been revealed to have been involved in such a questionable deal by an international body while prime minister.

“The PM’s conflicts of interest are legion, but there has never been anything like this ADB report before,” said Kristian Lasslett, an investigative criminologist who has been researching corruption in PNG for more than a decade.

“O’Neill is PNG’s Mr Teflon, while others around him have crashed against the rocks, he seems to escape unscathed. This ADB investigation is a bone-shaking exception to the rule. An international body has uncovered activity by a company he owns which appears to fit within the dictionary definition of fraud.”

The explanation for all this praise for another disgraced political can be found here….

“With a population of more than 7 million people and mobile penetration of around 50%, PNG’s mobile market has enormous growth potential. However, this growth could be inhibited by the latent difficulties within the market, including the high cost of deploying infrastructure, the relatively low income base among potential subscribers, and the geographical dispersal of the population. As a result of these conditions PNG remains one of the least affordable mobile markets in the Pacific.”

To overcome the country’s communication shortcomings, the government is deploying a National Transmission Network, which is expected to boost bandwidth and encourage market competition. It is managed by the state-owned PNG DataCo, which acts as wholesaler.”
