Something inaccurate on social media ?

Posted by someone with an agenda?

Better lead with it in giant letters.

You were right the other day in the comments about the Ian O’Doherty article – this is just a further illustration of how some bloke with a Twitter account isn’t the same thing as the Third Estate.

What would be the big deal if it was given free. As much as I personally dislike him, if had have bern true it was a non story.

    1. Tom

Exactly. He’s the PM so of course he might get a few freebies. I doubt he solciits them or is looking to do favours.

      1. Giggidygoo

Naw. Sure he wouldn’t get a receipt from her.
Has he posted the receipt for the meal on social media showing he paid?

    Genuine question –
does Kylie have a big gay following because she has an unhappy personal life?
If she was married with kids would they desert her?
Is it a Judy Garland thing…?

I think part of the deal of recording with SAW in the 80s was that you got a massive gay following thrown in for free.

        1. ivan

Dunno, I’m more making a glib throwaway comment than ‘owt else. Dead or Alive had a bit of it, definitely Bananarama, Divine, Jason Donovan…

I mean, I suppose really The Gays have tended to embrace gloriously over the top pop far more than anybody else, it’s not that it was limited to Stock Aitken and Waterman, just that SAW were the ones producing most of the pop back then. Bog all of it was much good, IMHO, sounding a bit samey but then I’m poor and commenting on an internet board. Mike, Matt and Pete probably pay people to light their cigars with £50 notes.

SAW killed the organic UK music scene of the mid-80s imo. If you look at what was thriving before they muscled in, an entire culture of talented bands playing in their garage and getting a record deal fizzled away from mainstream and into a tougher alternative genre with less airplay. Maybe a good thing in hindsight.

karl, who works in the office next to mine is a flaming homosexual, a big kylie fan and a regular commenter on broadsheet. i’ll leave this here in the hope he’ll chip in…

      1. Bertie Blenkinsop

I meant she seems to be portrayed in the media as being as unlucky in love, I probably worded it clumsily.

      1. SOQ

I’m not gay…. I stopped reading right there. You don’t have to be a practising homosapian Clamps honey.

Personally I find her music vacuous and sterile but there is big money in da oul gays. Both Take That and Boyzpne started out by pitching to the queens and pop ‘stars’ have been at it ever since.

But then there was those who never tried and still won huge followings – Grace Jones for example, now she IS the real deal.

I should state here (on social media) I do like Kylie and I’m a little jealous of Leo.

Text that stops me reading news stories
    – people took to twitter (used in the Indo article)
    – twitter exploded (not about actual physical explosion)
    – User @insertanyname expressed their outrage at (insert anything)

  5. Joe Small

Good job Denis O’Brien wasn’t backstage with Kylie. With those kind of libellous comments, Pól would be bankrupted.

  6. Shayna

I walked past Kylie on the King’s Road, London back in the 90s – I remarked to myself how tiny she was. In the group shot there, well, she’s tiny. The free admittance to anywhere is a given, if you’re The Premier of a country. The tipping thing, well, it’s an American thing.
I have heard stories from staff at Wembley who told me that when James Brown played there they were grateful that he didn’t shoot them. I just thought of Kylie in that pic with a gun. (James Brown style) .

    1. rotide

If we’re continuing to endanger peoples feet with all these names being flung around then ill chip in to say I met her in Feile 95 and she was indeed incredidbly tiny (and delightful).

      1. Starina

apparently she donates her old clothes to Oxfam fairly regularly so if you’re ever in London and find a tiny pair of sparkly Louboutins in a charity shop they might be hers.

I wish she still sold knickers. They were great.

  7. Murtles

Pfft unless he pulled the “Do you know who I am?” card or slept with Kylie, this “story” is using up valuable bytes of internet space. We’re running out of it you know?

  8. Johnny

Optically, given that Leo and FG on behalf the irish state instructed NAMA sell this arena, accepting comps from the buyer illustrates extremely poor judgement, again.

      1. Johnny

Straws-I didn’t bring up the runmours he takes his drinks that way,if it was a round of golf at the K-Club with John Malone, followed by drinks and lunch at the club-what would the reaction be ?
Who from ownership, that bought this off the state was in the VIP area, are they still actively buying irish state assets ?
It was a horrendous error of judgement, one of many, you don’t think he bought tickets, you can’t possibly be that captured by this govt or are you?

        1. Cian

Johnny, so you’re now suggesting he got free tickets? Any evidence?
and you’re also suggesting that the mysterious benefactor is also a vulture fund? Again without evidence. Do you even know who bought the Point from NAMA?

I have no idea where he got the tickets. But I’m honest enough to admit that. You, on the other hand, are just making stuff up.

          1. Johnny

What’s that hanging around him and his 5 mates necks, general admission tickets ya think !
Where did yer man get those hideous brow shoes, hopefully they were all comped their “gig” outfits, looks like bunch of self pleasurers all dressed up for a a big FREE night out.
            You bore me.

  9. Termagant

Well hypothetically, if it had been true instead of lies – I’d you’ve only got your card and the manager says it’s on the house, how exactly are you meant to tip? There’s no transaction taking place.

  10. Spud

    ‘Here’s a story a hope goes viral’

    =

‘Hey, I really hope someone reads and shares my lame story that people believe is true so I can get attention!!! I want attention!! And I don’t like Leoooo!’

      1. Rob_G

If I see someone on FB or Twitter with an awkwardly-gaelcized name, 90% of the time it some populist anti-establishment rabble-rabble stuff.

        “Liathróidí-Iarann MacAnGiollatach wrote …”

It would have been better to point out how many children went to be homeless whilst leo was off demanding a selfie from kylie

    1. rotide

You know that lazy ass also lies in his back for AT LEAST 6 hours a day doing absolutely nothing with his eyes closed?

How the crisis is going to be solved with that attidude, I just don’t know.

      1. Rob_G

It must be difficult to sleep that long on the bed of sackcloth and ashes that no doubt he sleeps on as an act of contrition for the homeless crisis(?)

  12. George

Perhaps she should be angry with her employer for not paying her properly to do her job?

I’ve done jobs in the service sector where you don’t get tipped. It’s a weird anomaly that some people get tips and not something they should expect or complain about.

  13. Dav

kind of hilarious how Leo misses the point to the post though, whatever about his agenda. The commentor seems to find the lack of a tip more egregious and all Leo can say is “But I paid!”

    1. SOQ

X number homeless (I can’t keep up) and THIS is what people are talking about? I like that we have a gay Taoiseach because it gives young gay people hope but it was minus five in parts night before last and the winter hasn’t even started yet. People are going to die AGAIN and I doubt if they are too bothered about whiter he tipped a waitress at a Kylie Minogue concert or not.

      Fluffy bullpoo.
