The dogged-with-legal-woes film ‘The Professor And The Madman‘ starring Sean Penn and Mel Gibson is released in Portugal, and seemingly will be out in cinemas in other countries this year – after a huge legal battle and three year delay (it was filmed in 2016).
It was – as far as I am aware – entirely shot in Ireland. With Dublin filling in for London, and Trinity for Oxford. The trailer looks interesting, but looks like neither Penn or Gibson are going to promote it…

By how much have we been “swindled” by the producers of this film?
The Irish taxpayer might have coughed up 32% of the production budget ($25m total, so 32% would be $7m+). Mel Gibson says we were “swindled”

It doesn’t actually work like that. Revenue doesn’t just present interested parties with 7m euro when asked.
Don’t even get started on section 481, it’s done a lot of good work for the economy and the film sector.
