The coward does it with a kiss.
Mucky frogs.

Le Cimetière du Père Lachaise in the snow this morning. Since 2011 the Irish Government has moved to protect Oscar’s Wilde’s tomb. Just as well. #Anyexcuse…
Bring him home.

You should see Oscar Wilde’s resting place during the summer, when hundreds of ‘pilgrims’ visit the grave and place all sorts of mementoes in homage. There is an inscription (in French) declaring that it is unlawful to deface a tombstone which is a ‘monument national’, but this fails to deter the vandalising worshippers.
Some cemetery for crowds. Happened to visit in the heat of a Paris summer on Jim Morrison’s anniversary and pre-Wilde glass barrier.
Ha! Maybe I met you there. I was there that summer too. Was it the early 90s? I can’t remember.
It was 2011, Andy. So Jim’s 40th anniversary.
Erm, no. I was there for his 21st. Heh. Aul wan alert.
Legend has it that when the flying sphinx on the tomb was vandalised – dismembered so to speak – the offending appendage was retrieved and used as a paperweight in the cemetery Supervisor’s office.
I think Oscar would have liked that.
I left my lipstick kiss on the tombstone back in the pre-plexiglass days…what was that, 2001? What a dreamy experience for a young yank on her first trip to Europe. sigh.
