Construction work begins on the site of a new Facebook ‘campus’ on the old Allied Irish Bank Bankcentre HQ (top).

Facebook acquired a long-term lease of the 14 acres opposite the RDS.

      Yes. Isn’t it great that architects and designers are employed again, after what seems a long recession. This is a great site and opportunity.

    Irony is, basic accommodation in ballsbridge costs a lot less than you would imagine, but that will change soon I expect.

    End of an era stuff, used to work in bankcentre many moons ago. Wonder will facebook be there as long as AIB.

    The Irony is that building and bank of ireland HQ on Baggot st were BOTH sold at the top of the market in 06/07 and yet both companies continued to reckless lend on property till 2008. Obviously they knew that the government would have their backs no matter what the future might bring..

    why? Cherrywood is (a) on the Luas, (b) on the M50, and (c) off the N11 (which is a different road to the ballsbridge), and (d) it will have a lot of commercial too – so people will be travelling to Cherrywood.
