It was wonderful that the inaugural Irish-US Parliamentary Friendship Group was at @uscapitol this evening for the #Dáil100 celebration & launch by Tánaiste @simoncoveney of the Government’s North America strategy @OireachtasNews #GlobalIreland pic.twitter.com/Q6ngqsOodb

Last night.
Washington DC.
Johnny NY writes:
Quite the line-up…
Drain the swamp.
No better woman than Lady Fitzgerald to pose for the camera – while Joan tries to remember if she left her phone on charge.
Tiocfaidh ár lá-Peter King between Simon and Francis…
Fair-play to Simon embracing a well know IRA supporter, pandering much to the large “Irish” voting population in Massapequa-gosh no:)
“We must pledge ourselves to support those brave men and women who this very moment are carrying forth the struggle against British imperialism in the streets of Belfast and Derry,” Mr. King told a pro-I.R.A. rally on Long Island, where he was serving as Nassau County comptroller, in 1982. Three years later he declared, “If civilians are killed in an attack on a military installation, it is certainly regrettable, but I will not morally blame the I.R.A. for it.”

I attended a meeting in a bar on Bainbridge Ave in the Bronx back in the eighties which was organized by Peter King. The main speaker was Bernadette Devlin and it would be fair to say that it had a “republican” theme.
It was quiet ‘trendy’ in certain NY circles in the 80’s,Trump attended a SF dinner and most people have seen by now, the photo of him and Adams.Bainbridge has completely changed, most the Irish moved north to Yonkers, its become much more ‘international’ since then.King’s district includes Massapequa in Long Island,it borders Queens and has a large Irish population, which moved from Woodside. Here is a list (bit dated) of the most ‘Irish” places in NY-vast majority are in Kings district. He’s the house representative (Republican)- Representing New York’s 2nd Congressional District. So he tends fly the tricolor a lot, but is and has been a good friend to Ireland.

I wonder what the trip will cost by the time it’s all processed….
Junket, paid for the taxpayers of Ireland, they will claim huge expenses for this trip,
