Do we really have to give the likes of the Daily Star and Express the oxygen of publicity? It’s bad enough they’re been given the oxygen of oxygen…

Why do you think there are swastikas in that shopping mall? Have you tried to check how they came to be there at all? Or are you just happy to find something that fits the story that you want to tell?

I guess because prominent Israeli outlets reported on it such as “Times of Israel” and “Jerusalem Post”. The source of the video, Eduard Dolinsky, is the director of the “Ukrainian Jewish Committee” in Ukraine. Neither he, nor those Israeli outlets mentioned the possible hacking of the stairs. When I made that post last night, there were no stories online about a hacking.
On reflection, today I agree it does seem a bit of a step too far – however it’s undeniable that there is a neo-Nazi element to those currently holding power in Ukraine and which publicly self-identifies with Nazi symbolism. https://www.globalresearch.ca/u-s-congress-admits-nazi-role-in-ukraine/5455422

And the NCH over-run details slowly but surely emerge. Piecemeal. but they’re emerging. And still FF will have confidence and provide unquestioned support for FG. Micheal Martin guilty of no-balling.

Is British politics splitting along the lines of Brexit? Must admit, I expected the Tories to go first. What with Farage coming up on the outside and now the makings of a new centralist party in the middle, the dominance of the two main parties could be just about over.

Nice to see that people can be the victims of racial and sectarian abuse and still get the blame for doing something about it.

Honda to close Swindon with 3500 direct job losses and probably the same in the supply chain and support services. A sign of things to come if ever there was one.

While we’re acting like Brexit is all about us, there has been some recent sabre-rattling by our EU partners Spain towards the Brits over Gibraltar. Apart from calling it a “colony” a fortnight ago, last weekend, a Spanish warship ordered, via shortwave radio, a commercial vessel which was docked in Gibraltar to move, which is cheeky to say the least. The British navy was scrambled (or whatever they do with ships) and, according to the Guardian, “after being challenged by the Royal Navy, the Spanish warship sailed slowly along the Gibraltar coast with its weapons uncovered and manned” , like a sullen teenager.

Might Ireland’s first outing as part of PESCO in 2019 be on the Spanish side in a fight with Britain?

“The British navy was scrambled (or whatever they do with ships) “.

Um, it’s the fourth largest navy in the world. Like it or not, that pulls a bit of clout. Which is a shame really as Gibraltar belongs to the Spanish, the Malvinas to the Argentinians, ET AL…

        1. Spaghetti Hoop

It was to do with ‘whatever they do with ships’. It’s a fuppin’ armed force. Who are you, eoin’s ma?

      1. milk teeth

I don’t get Spain’s posturing over Gibraltar. Most people there want to be British and its totally hypocritical when they have more or less exactly the same set up in Morocco with the cities of Melilla and Ceuta.

Warplanes are scrambled. Warships are poached. Soldiers are fried. Officers in all branches of the armed forces tend to be whipped, but that’s a lifestyle choice.

Brits agonizing over the fate of a young citizen who went off to Syria to support Islamic State and now she wants to come home. The nation faces a dilemma, accept their citizen back or condemn her to the hell of Syria, a nation is crying out for analysis and insight. Who ya gonna call? The Star has the answer – Danny Dyer.

Hmmm, Ireland and the UK can’t enter into bilateral agreements says Coveney, they must be between the EU and UK. Yet Regina Doherty is saying a memo of understanding has been signed on pensions, says the front page of the London Irish World. What other bilaterals are being inked?

    1. Giggidygoo

France and Germany have bilateral agreements. The most recent one Elysee2. I’d have more worry about two EU partners going off on a solo bilateral agreement than a IE UK one https://uk.ambafrance.org/France-and-Germany-pledge-new-Elysee-Treaty-in-2018.
Ireland and UK had bilateral agreements in the past, which I can’t find a record of being cancelled. I’ve a gut feeling that they were just shelved, and possibly could be dusted off. After all, we and the UK are sovereign states?

Bryan Dobson targeted by fake news. “after 32 years I am retiring at age 59”. Sure Bryan, you’d be giving up €198,146 a year from loss-making RTE for a few hours light work every week or so. How would anyone believe Bryan was giving that up that sweet gig before he absolutely had to.

Just a day left before the vote of no-confidence in Simon Harris. If the government loses, there’s a strong chance of a general election. FF will be abstaining. Independent Dr Michael Harty now says he will be supporting the SF motion. So, that means the government is totally reliant on the support of one man to survive. Who is that man?

“Convicted criminal”* and disqualified director (and that’s just the 2018 stuff, remember Moriarty?) Michael Lowry.

Well, this government haven’t delivered on Groucho’s Cathal Lab for Waterford. And with the (we are told) cutbacks in other health spending due to the over-runs in the NCH, guess what would be cut? Oh – Coveney has pledged it again during January. How long is that now that Halligan has survived on false promises. If he grown a pair and brings down this government he might have some hope of re-election.

        1. Holden MaGroin

I prefer the idea of a Cathal Lab where, you know, men named Cathal are genetically engineered so that their magical stem cells can be harvested and sent to the UK under a bilateral agreement unapproved by the rest of the EU. The stem cells are then spliced into Brexit voters DNA so that they push for a second referendum.

I haven’t had my orange juice yet.

          1. Papi

A genetically modified army of Cathals, all wearing Aran Jumpers and cords and sensible brogues who are primary school teachers with a deep love of GAA and tea and Mammy. And a bald spot. Short, but quite stocky.

        2. Daisy Chainsaw

Be careful what you wish for. One of the Cathals could mutate into a Charlie with expensive tastes in shirts and islands.

      1. Daisy Chainsaw

No problem sinking €2billion into the NCH money pit, but impossible to find €5million to keep heart patients alive in the South East

    2. ReproBertie

There won’t be an election. FF may sit on the fence and watch Harris fall but they don’t want an election until Sasamach is sorted. If it comes to confidence in the government they’ll back their coalition partners.

        1. ReproBertie

I’m looking forward to the locals. It’ll give us a clearer picture on just how much support the coalition government has lost by stumbling from fiasco to fiasco.

          1. Frilly Keane

            Likewise for all the others making promises;

            Renua / Irexit

            Social Democrats
            Change Makers – #EndCorruptionNow’istas

            Direct Democracy
            Homes for all etc

-so far news reports on what the heavily armed yanks/contractors were doing is unreliable.

.’..said over the weekend that he has agreed to reduce certain government budgets by 30 percent, limit travel of government officials and remove all non-essential privileges they enjoy, including phone cards..’

Phone cards, free calls for all current govt employees in Haiti-hm !
Why would anyone want keep the current corrupt govt in power……..

That’s very nice Dennis to hire x special forces to sell mobile phones in Haiti…….

‘David Sharpe doesn’t mind doing business in Haiti despite its reputation for being one of the world’s most dangerous countries. Back in the early 1990s, the ex-U.S. Marine was in Somalia during Black Hawk Down and the former Yugoslavia during some of the bloodiest fighting in Bosnia.
But now Sharpe, a 40-year-old executive with wireless provider Digicel Haiti‘
