Lonely Grey Toil Of Monaghan

at

My Ireland (2019).

Trailer for a forthcoming documentary by Tony Monaghan.

Johnny Keenan writes:

Tony, a construction worker turned documentary maker, came to prominence in 2013 by producing and directing ‘Rednecks + Culchies‘, [following the daily grind of drug addicts who worked for Monaghan’s construction company in Missouri]

Like most Irish immigrants, Tony’s view of Ireland has always being a heart-felt one. However his experiences and frustration in recent years have forced him to to make another documentary. This time specifically dealing with Ireland and our people.

This Belmullet, County Mayo-native, who left Ireland at 15, searches and seems to find he is not alone on his bleak outlook, and all things aren’t as green as they seem… Coming soon.

Looks promising. it will hopefully articulate how the majority of us feel about government selling us out.

Gobbledy I do of course but not when there is a job to be done. In this case save our country from corruption and greed.
What I really appreciate about BS, it gives a platform to almost everyone. We don’t have to agree but I find most contributors have a reasonable grasp and interest for many different views and opinions.
      May it long continue.

I would welcome this, not sure if it will change anything, some people seem to go through life with their head up their ass, and often they are the oppressed ones and they don’t seem to know it. Ireland has many good qualities in its people and its society but those qualities are diminishing slowly but surely. A billion euro misappropriated from the taxpayers via the NCH project and it seems to be almost forgotten about a month later and we are just going to go along with it and pay the thieves.

Keep up the good work Johnny.

“I feel sorry for you, you zeros, you nobodies. What’s going to live on after you die? Nothing, that’s what! This house will become a shrine! And punks and skins and Rastas will all gather round and all hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader! And all the grown-ups will say, ‘But why are the kids crying?’ And the kids will say, ‘Haven’t you heard? Rick is dead! The People’s Poet is dead!’ … And then one particularly sensitive and articulate teenager will say, ‘Why kids, do you understand nothing? How can Rick be dead when we still have his poems?'”

Gobbledy I am negative with my environment, which is the way a neo liberal government and corporates are running our country into the ground. I have positive ideas though in how we can all move forward together
