A fascinating half hour with dialect coach Erik Singer in which he analyses the accuracy of twenty eight Actors Playing The President Of The United States. To wit:

How close was Josh Brolin to capturing George W. Bush in W.? Is Jay Pharoah’s version of Obama true to life? Is it even possible for an actor to accurately portray George Washington?

I thought Travolta captured the voice and aspects of Clinton’s personality very well in Primary Colours.
Depending on their physiology, an actor can only go so far in recreating the actual look of the subject – so there’s an element of luck with that.

That was really interesting! I have never been good at imitating either accents or speech of others, and I learned quite a bit from this as to why. His explanations of tongue, mouth and other positions, and how the affect accent were really insightful!

    Thanks for posting this!

Love this series. yer man makes vocal coaching very very interesting. There’s quite a good one on world accents where he proclaims DDL in name of the Father as one of the very best accents he’s heard.
