“A number of politicians took part in the march, including Independent TDs Mattie McGrath and Michael Lowry as well as former minister and Labour TD Alan Kelly.”
you reap what you sow, the holy trinity of objectionable TDs
Is Tipp the real rebel county ?
An post are doing their best. look. If you can’t see that you’re just not down with the younger generation.

It’s two thirds of a mile distance between them
A 4 minute drive
A 12 minute walk
If it weren’t for a slight bend in the road you could probably see one from the other
It’s not about the distance it is about keeping town centres active. Your “4 minute drive” comment says it all.
But they’re basically in the same place
If moving the post office 10 minutes away kills your town centre then your town centre has other, bigger problems
I think that you’re missing the point here.
It is a privately owned shopping centre outside the town centre.
Marching won’t do a whole lot of good. If they actually used the Post Office enough for it to be profitable then it wouldn’t close.
Ding Ding Ding
This is the correct answer
Utter bull. Post offices across the country have been shut down, even thosugh many were perfectly viable. My local post office was shut because they offered the postmistress a BS “self employment” deal or redundancy. At her time of life she had no choice but to close the doors.
In the case of Thurles, there’s no suggestion by An Post that the existing post office isn’t viable:
In a statement issued by An Post, the company said the new location is in line with the company’s “transformation programme offering a new look retail offering for customers including a move away from old style post office counter layout.”
The relocation, An Post states, has been driven by a “move to offer a host of new services and products to customers including financial services and integrating its growing eCommerce business.”
The blueshirts are lining An Post up for privatisation. The privatisation of the Royal Mail in the UK has been such a resounding success
