Last night.
Trinity College Dublin.
Rick Astley, the 1980s pop star famous for his hit “Never Gonna Give You Up” – and the phenomenon of rickrolling – performed in an intimate gig in Trinity’s Chapel.
Billed as a “Secret Chapel Gig” by Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) and Trinity Ents, the concert was attended by students and staff alike.

Did a good version of that song with the Poo fighters in Wembley a few years ago
aka the IBS Support Group
Oh yes – was it this one?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
heard him on radio blushirt yesterday, seemed like an honest down to earth bloke, when asked why he looked so well being in his 50’s his answer was “an easy life, no stress” fair enough
I like his honesty.
Which one is radio blushirt? I’d like to Listen to that.
Newstalk, he was on Pat Kenny.
I agree with Dav, thoroughly nice guy
Like yourself so,you probably identify with him a lot.
As a sick burn, that needs a lot of work johnny
Astley was a bit misunderstood…in reality he’s a top notch proper trained singer & has written a large proportion of his own stuff but got badly associated by proximity to some of the pop machine dirge that came from working for Stock Aitken Waterman in 80’s/90’s, he refused to mime etc. & rubbed a lot of industry people up the wrong way..
far as I recall he was closing out the Brit awards one year & got cut off mid song live on tv…after that gave the showbiz factory lot two fingers and bought himself out of his contracts etc.
he’s not my cup of tea, if there was a free involved I’d go see him, but fair play & I hope he does as well as he deserves
He’s gone back to his soul sound in recent years
His voice is a good as ever
And hasn’t ages a bit
Peter Kay’s musical director thingy as well
Or… see Robert Plant and his band Saving Grace in the intimate venue of St Nicholas’ Church, Galway this July …. for lovers of “Americana folk” (my phrase) :0) …also at other venues around the country
…should’ve started that with “speaking of intimate venues…” :)
