Animation: Agua Viva

at

A rather mesmerising short by Alexa Lim Haas focussing on the daily routines of a Chinese manicurist at a Florida strip mall struggling with loneliness and a language she barely understands.

Far less grim than it sounds.

Would she – or anyone in a similar situation- not be better off at home. A nail bar in a shopping mall in Florida, pile on the horror.

This short animation focuses on loneliness in a foreign culture. Many African and Asian and Eastern European migrant workers in Ireland in nursing, catering and care work are experiencing similar loneliness. Some of us can reach out to them in sincere ways.
