Behold: the BMW Garmisch – an automotive concept designed by the legendary Marcello Gandini, who created the Lamborghini Miura, Countach, Lancia Stratos, and the original BMW 5-series.
Launched at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show, lost for 50 years and always regarded by BMW as a ‘missing link’ in its design history, the vehicle is being re-released in collaboration with Gandini – hand-built in Turin like its predecessor and with the same angular twin kidney grille, square headlights, louvred c-pillar and honeycombed rear window cover.

now that would definitely get it
looks very east german
You can see the basic design for what was to come from BMVV.
I initially thought “Lancia Gamma” until the front grille. What was Gandini thinking? Ford Edsel comes to mind.
That vertical dash is getting me all hot and bothered
Is the front-seat passenger happy enough to beautify themselves / shave? Would have thought an extendable laptop tray here more useful than a large mirror.
Laptops hadn’t reached peak market penetration in 1970, though.
Yeah, it would be more fitting if the mirror folded down flat so your passenger could do a line off it
I’m in-love.
I’m just not loving the back end
