Meanwhile, In Donegal

It was claimed by Mr McBrearty, who previously stood for the Labour Party, that he was offered positions on three national party committees in a bid to try and get him to rethink his decision to resign.

He said he was offered positions on the new Policing Authority, the Loughs Agency, and an unnamed national committee.

Fine Gael has confirmed the resignation of one of its councillors, Frank McBrearty, just two months after he joined the party and one week after the local elections.

“I have to talk to the independents and the other groupings, Fine Gael included….If I am excluded from power-sharing I will make the council unworkable” he said.

    Wow. Just. Wow.

I’m not sure why FG wanted him so badly. They only have 6 (6) seats of 37 in Donegal.
    FF have 12 (11); Sinn Fein 10 (9); independents 8 (10)…. (2014 results)

FG are insignificant to Donegal council.

I have an idea, fg beats sf over the head with the “bullying” charge all the time and don’t want this similar charge facing them.

So first they bully him, allegedly, then they offer him token jobs in government agencies to placate him?

If FG is offering an unnecessary local councillor a bunch of cushy sinecures , just imagine what they’re giving Michael Lowry so he continues to prop up their national government.
