Wow, I’m sold, he is a cyclist after all so therefore an expert in urban planning and traffic regulation.
Rebut any of the suggestions then.
Those two poles he wants to make into one are actually 4 bike parking spaces right now
thanks John
Are you thanking John for backing up your snark? They are poles not bike racks.
Well, it’s not rocket science: at the moment, hundred of acres of valuable street space in Dublin city centre is dedicated to providing hugely-subsidised on-street parking to motorists.
If you were to turn over just a tiny, tiny fraction of this vast amount of space to bike parking, there would be space to park loads more bicycles. More people might be encouraged to cycle into town, making the city a more pleasant space for everyone.

money pissed up against the wall to stroke tiny egos
Cycle parking around Dawson Street is a nightmare. These are good suggestions.
Build it and they will come. Make the city centre attractive for cyclists and people (and families) will leave their car behind and take the bike instead. Even the optics of plentiful in-use bike parking encourages more people to take it up.
Can probably overbook capacity about 110% to take account for the ones that get injured (or worse) on the way in due to the lack of safe infrastructure.
