For the record, Alan’s exaggeration was worse than Maria’s. His was completely contrary to a) the accident circumstances and b) the medical reports. She didn’t exaggerate the injury, she exaggerated the impact of that injury.

So why no inquiry on Alan?

      Cause she’s a pesky woman!

      JK.

Most likely because of the ridiculous nature of the claim i.e. the swing part of it.

I’m surprised the pic of her and Leo at the run is not being trotted out more.

In fairness his was just as ridiculous. A very minor tip, minimal damage to vehicles, yet he claimed severe and extreme back injury.

He claimed pain and suffering that was contradictory to all medical reports.

Poor Alan. His chances of being taken seriously are long gone. He, as a FG member should also be.

Seems explanations are in order. Gene obviously hasn’t been disabled, he was making a joke. But Alan did claim for an injury after a car incident. In court, a pic of Alan hanging up an election poster giving a thumbs-up was produced by the defence to bolster their claim that Alan wasn’t seriously injured. So, the comment above was to poke fun at Alan’s claims about the extent of his own claimed injuries by suggesting Gene’s fake injuries would only allow him undertake the fairly challenging task of going up a ladder to hang posters. And wishing Gene well for his faked injuries ahead of a fake compo claim before a fake judge and then qualifying those good wishes by wishing his faked injuries were apparent to the judge so he could receive maximum fake compo, is a reference to our compo culture which has echoes of Alan’s compo claim.

I bet Frankie Boyle doesn’t have to do these explanations.

I don’t think you had to do it either. No one in this comments section seems unaware of what the context of this was.

Fair enough. My initial comment was modded and was fairly innocent. Still, it’s Friday and I should play nice.

Hour ahead in Norway, I’ll be on the veranda in what is currently 32 degrees. Probably last five minutes out there, but I’ll give it a blast.

‘Eoinsplaining’ – that’s a a good one for the Oxford English Dictionary post above

Thanks for the explanation eoin. While readers can probably guess the context Bodger failed to provide the background to the story, namely that TD Alan Farrell was involved in compensation claim. Broadsheet is okay but poor writing like this is why no one mistakes it for journalism.

If you didn’t not know the background to this story then you obviously have no interest in current affairs.

Alan Farrell, another dishonest FG chap on the take but then they all are, including those who vote for them.

A mouthy male appendage as well.

I actually said criminal because based on what we heard at an Oireachtas committee the other day, what he did in my view was criminal.

      He’s also a trouser snake..
