Which street in Dublin do you think holds the most chaotic energy?
I’m nominating Talbot St. Hands down, I never know what I’m going to witness when I go there.— Pints Before People (@sonofedge) July 26, 2019
I vote for Capel St. Nowhere else I know of can you get a scale model train, nunchucks, a belt sander, the start of a hemp farm, a chicken fillet roll and a dildo you could club a moose to death with in one brief stroll. https://t.co/TiyJjAQsQ8

I’d go with Meath Street in the Liberties the energy there in the early mornings always put me in great form for work!
Really? I just see junkies injecting in the lanes.
Look harder then.
Just so you know, there is literally only 1 lane way in that whole street and 2 road turn off, one to vicar street and one to meath place. So where exactly are these injections happening.
in the arm, usually.
I think they prefer between the toes these days.
wokeback mountain has it right and he forgot to include bouzouki strings.
And get fitted for a nice bespoke suit too.
and have a decent bimibap to celebrate, at the Brothers gaff
Wtf is a bimibap? Some hipster shooiite?
no frills Korean comfort food
get your arse in there
it’s hidden at the back of the big Asian store
Well in- thanks for tip
You’d like pang off Aungier st in that case
I thought you were referring that vegan bollocs poncey place brother Hubbard
Pang are mates of mine, Bazzer is a legend, food is great
Big fan o’ Pang. Ask them to open up a licensed restaurant, Janet. Pho the weekend.
I think the lads won’t mind me saying bigger and better things to come, since opening last year, they are constantly tweeking the menu etc to make happy tummies,
massive pho fan :) I second that on the weekend
Parnell Street [Gardiner Street end], what life looks like through a benzo lens.
Interesting that both streets nominated above have early houses, although Capel Street wins it at a rate of two to one. They do add a certain je ne sais quoi to the stroll to work.
Yes, but why would you want to club a moose to death with a dildo there? What did the moose do to deserve this? And would it not be better to do it out of sight, like in the Phoenix Park, for example?
It doesn’t say that the moose to be fatally bludgeoned would necessarily be on Capel Street at the time, merely that the implement itself could be found there, though I would suggest that more suitable tools for the task could be found in Lenehans.
Good point. Although I do think the moose is being unfairly considered in all this.
you’ll find a better range and value at mcquillan’s OB.
That did occur to me after posting. I used to go to Lenehans for smaller household bits and pieces, rather than tools – lightbulbs, a new coal scuttle, white spirits etc. I have been away for some time, by way of an excuse.
Isn’t Lenehan’s gone now?
capel street was designed as the city’s main thoroughfare, to lead directly to the newly built city hall on dame street. it was the poshest street in dublin in the 18th century. if you look up to the first floor of those buildings, you can still see some of its heritage.

Yeah, Talbot St. It’s a menacing energy. Outside Heuston station has the same feel.
ah menacing is a bit much, at least you can get a good clip up, cannot stand the snail pace of getting around Westmoreland St., that is one messy open air Walmart of a street
Capel Street was where I and my teenage platoon got ‘Nam-ed up with army surplus gear, torches, zippo lighters, hiking boots etc. Wouldn’t say it has a huge footfall though – two lanes of fast-moving traffic.
ObPicNitPick: Isn’t that North Earl Street shown above? Talbot Street is the next junction down.
Very good, Paulus.
It’s like Wicklow and Exchequer on t’other side of town.
I wish I could claim some super detailed insight, but I used to work there back in the day.
We had all sorts from the dude belting out the same verse of Carrickfergus on his whistle, to the human statue, to whiteboard philosophy, the odd detention outside Kylemore and the occasional equine Guard in hi-vis.
Still hard to argue against Capel Street though.
I like Camden Street, a good mishmash of everything.
Moore Street for me.
I worked there every Saturday and summer all through school, it’s changed a hell of a lot since then (haven’t we all) but I still like the buzz around the place.
“don’t squeeze me till I’m yours ”
hmmmm, I remember
