Makes more retail sense this year than previously, the High Street/Main Street might be a very quiet place after 31 October.

The high street might be very busy as all the on-line orders from the UK are held up in customs..

With most of our clothes and footwear and furniture and electronics coming from/via the UK, the only bricks and mortar shop doing much business might be that Aran sweater place on Nassau Street.

Thoughts? Burn it. Burn it with fire.

This kind of thing only encourages the numpties who think they’re gas characters because they hang posters in the office of Buddy the Elf weeing himself with excitement, exclaiming “Only 237 sleeps to Christmas”.

I’m not a grinch. I love Christmas a lot because for a while it was the only time I felt anything approaching happiness, but starting the whole Xmas thing in flerking August is headwrecking. A scaldy pox on it.

I think there is not one thing in Brown Thomas that I cannot get elsewhere at a significantly lower price is what I think.

Also, their Christmas windows are rubbish these days.

BT is worth going into for a laugh; to see a daily personification of the Fool and His/Her Money. Go in the Grafton St door and come out the Wickla St one…guaranteed to put a (smug) smile on yer face!

A mate and I did that after a couple of cocktails. I went in and asked the perfume puppets for a fragrance which “smells of the sea”. I got all sorts of codology back. I went from one to the other until I got the highest price tag of e450 for 100ml.

No I did not take the bait. Cast the net a little wider, jumped ship and went for something that smelled like gin.
            My BT experience over.
