They’ve only gone and done *all* the ‘down’ clues first?
Weirdo!
I use different methods, but this is sometimes one of them. Sometimes it’s all the across first. Sometimes, I meander, doing the clue through the last linked letter and try to get around the crossword. Makes it more fun :)
But are the answers correct?
22 across is “archaic”
12 across OhMyGod (2,2,3)
Just followed the link to the Huffington Post article, looking for a clear picture of the clues, to see that the completed crossword is there in full (not all clues are listed).

hate all that twee sweary defiance stuff the brits love
It’s very irritating. Like most things in England it comes down to class. The working classes and the toffs swear as much as the Irish do without really thinking about it. The problem is that in the middle you have swathes of Guardian-reading middle classes who all seem to have been raised by Hyacinth Bucket stereotypes and as a result think that swearing is terribly subversive.
16 across is ‘cinematographer’.
Nothing like a referendum going the wrong way to show us how anti-democracy the true left really is. Many the wife of a left winger is no stranger to the back of her husband’s hand.

Oh, I think I know this one…
…is the answer “diarrhoea”?
Many right wingers are incels who think their hands are their wives
…typical grauniad…they realise that all the smug retainers sat on their hands and didn’t participate in the democratic process and now they want to exercise their parliamentary majority…beware those elephants lads…and lassies…
Armored cars and tanks and guns
Came to take away our sons
But every man must stand behind
The men behind the wire
14 across is Nth Degree. Crossword here if you want to do it from the start and ignore the picture
