The  YesChef  (food and drink magazine) inaugural Takeaway Awards were handed out.

Only one Dublin eaterie featured.

Vegetarian Takeaway of the Year  -The Gourmet Offensive, Galway

Innovative Takeaway of the Year  – Boxty’s, Galway

Sweet Treat of the Year  – Mammy Johnston’s, Sligo

Indian Takeaway of the Year – Chandpur, Donegal

The Champion Chip Award  – Mangans Traditional Fish & Chips, Wexford

Asian Takeaway of the Year  – Miyazaki, Cork

    Mangans is my local chipper and I can vouch for the quality of their chips. Sausage box is awesome too. Burgers are a bit pricey though.

      I think Dublin is great and the people who are born and raised there are very cool. And because they haven’t left one county on a tiny island doesn’t make them weird.

      Please, we must respect insular dublin people who think they are not living on a tiny island and they smell like the bog to people from actual large countries, please.

            that acoustic gig they did in the Olympia a couple of years ago was a surprise, really enjoyed it

    Bit of a bias towards Connaught and Ulster on this list. Or else there’s a takeaway revolution going on that’s escaping Leinster.

    Mangans not bad atall
    but there’s better even in Wexford
    I’d say The Saltee won’t be happy with that

        For chip and a rissole (hun). I’ve never really heard anyone rave about getting fish from them.

    Hon Mangans tho! When you can get fish fresh off the boats, it’s no surprise that Wexford chippers do well in these competitions.
