In fairness.
This afternoon.
Grove Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15
Luke McDermot from Mulhuddart with Mason Flood (in buggy) from Tyrelstown lets it rip outside Fingal County Council’s Blanchardstown offices protesting over the housing crisis.
Later…
Don’t be ashamed, Luke.
It’s good to vent.

How do I go about getting a free home?
Is your ma kicking you out of the basement again?
Not living in a basement, have kids, paying rent. No free house for working people.
Am I mad thinking that the state shouldn’t give people free houses? What’s stopping these people working and paying for a mortgage/rent?
I don’t see anyone there demanding free homes. I see “homes for all”.
That’s different. That suggests homes for all people living in Dublin, where its widely acknowledged that the housing crisis is at its worst. There are houses being built that are outside the wage bracket of a lot of families with two adults in full time work, and that is a problem.
Have babies.
Elegantly stereotyped.
Join Fine Gael and the cronies will take care of it.
He doesn’t want a free home… I’m his mother. We want social and affordable housing built on what is the last landbank zoned for housing that fingal county council own.
+ 1
He’s only gorgeous so he is. I bet he’s a real character :)
He really is. I’m sure the photographers were loving his shenanigans.
Adrieanne, I’ve emailed you some other pics of Luke from the day.
Only facists are against the idea that EVERY irish citizen should be entitled to a home and that it should be enshrined in the constitution
Only a racist would think that only Irish citizens deserve homes.
How could you Jimmy?
How could you?
Lol, you’re funny
I hope that’s sarcasm
Little birdie tells me that Leo’s soldiers aren’t getting the expected reaction on the doors in his constituency. He might survive, but it’s not a foregone conclusion according to the birdie.
I gave whichcandidate.ie a whirl, it’s good.
Me too. It threw up my first preference
Me also.
I think it’s a worthy app / website for floaters.
However, it hooked me up with Labour for No. 2 which I thought absurd – but they will spout any oul topical guff to get into bed with FF/FG.
It offered me Labour for No 3, which is not happening.
I noticed John Waters did not share his policy views. He mustn’t want any votes.
Verona Murphy didn’t offer anything either.
I love kittens
Odd comment. They’re protesting over the housing crisis – the lack of supply – and the blueshirts translate that into a request for free houses. There are protests over the health crisis. What’s the FG take on that? There are protests over childcare. What’s the FG take on that?
No one is looking for a free house. People are asking that affordable housing be available. People do pay rent in social housing you know.
Some people are looking for a free house – most are looking for affordable housing/subsidised housing.
If you have no income (outside social welfare), and the state provides you with a house, and you have to pay some of the money the state gave you to pay rent then I would consider this a “free house”.
If you do have income outside social welfare, and the state provides you with a house, and you have to pay towards the rent – this is subsidised.
If you do have income outside social welfare, and you buy your own home, and the state pay towards the cost (through interest relief or the help-to-buy schemes) – this too is subsidised.
As distinct for some FG friends are always looking for free handouts, knocked down prices for utilities, etc. Eh Cinny?
Who’s they? Who said they were looking for a free house?
It’s a quare old world when people are begging to live in the arse end of Blancharstown..
That’s very harsh. For workers in Ballycoolin or the city centre even, it’s ideal.
Where do you live, Cú?
I am harsh. If you had lived in the Blanch you might share my view.
Never, in all of my years on God’s green earth, have I heard it called “THE Blanch”.
Everyone in the blanch calls it the blanch..
Not even here on The Broadsheet…by The Bodger?
Bertie, aren’t you from (the) Blanch?
Nope…. NCR, Ballymun, Ballybough, Finglas and now Hollystown.. I’d give you my eircode if I thought it would help!
Always ‘Blanch’. Perhaps confusing it with ‘THE Ranch’ – nowhere near it.
No. The Ranch has always been The Ranch.. or de rancheros.. Rathmines has always being The Mines to the locals (the dublin ones, not the blow ins) and the Blanch has always been The Blanch.. not sure what social circles you guys move in, but that’s proper Dublin..
Looks like The Proclaimers Fan Club junior section in fairness.
Ah well, here’s to the future, from now on it’ll be: ‘I would walk 500 KM p/h, and drive 500 more… in a Hybrid, in a Hybrid, in a Hybrid, in a Hybrid, in aaaaaaa Hybrid!’
Nothing’s sacred!
Nobody gets a free house. Everyone has to pay rent. The irony is if they were to built 1500 houses, how many people would object /appeal etc. Ruth Coppinger objected to a new sewage storage facility just opposite Blanch village. A facility needed to deliver housing i.e we need housing as long it is not on my patch.
