‘We’re Missing Lessons To Teach You A Lesson’

at

This afternoon.

Dublin city centre.

Intolerant, climate change-fearing tykes take to the streets to scold ‘boomers’ and their selfish ilk for stupidly cooling warming the planet.

Formerly called ‘going on the mitch’.

More as we get it.

agree. plus it’s an early foray into politics for them, plenty of time for books!

      smarter, sharper, faster

      do you hear that establishment?

you’re a timex watch in a digital age

they certainly won’t stand for your bs

      tick-tock!

Fair enough, but get back to school and protest in your spare time. Education is a privilege.

It’s strike and has been hugely successful globally in focussing attention on climate change but sure keep wagging your finger.

I’m gen x. We didn’t start the cooling fire. In fact we patched up the hole in the ozone layer by not using hair spray in the 90s. Much thanks we get for it.

I think I killed off half the Ozone layer by myself by emptying my Dad’s Old Spice all around the house.

Ohhh someone’s had enough of these damn kids and their being all concerned about the state if the planet! Meow!

I was given my first ‘Ok Boomer’ on these pages. I had to laugh :-)

When I was their age, we had a school strike day. I stayed home. I regret it to this day.

Was that the day of your mock French oral exam? I feel your pain, I had a sexy French teacher too :(

They are literally gushing virtue signals. If any of these nauseating kids took an honest look at who and what is really causing the rise in global temp then they would be addressing their whinging to China and India and the US to stop the coal fired power stations. Instead they choose to wag their censorious, condescending finger of ignorance and cowardice at us.

There’s a reason why you are being ignored children, and that reason is in the mirror.

    1. Nigel

There are children activists striking all over the world, where they can. There are adults like you frothing at the mouth over it and using ‘virtue’ as a pejorative.

Don’t bother, Nigel. Of all the people to engage in a debate with on broadsheet, this one is the biggest waste of energy.

At least most of the other commenters here will engage with an opposing view with some degree of intelligence, wit and humour, and a willingness to acknowledge when a fair point is made. Most of the time ;)

They complain about climate change but still want the crusts cut off their sandwiches.

Real solutions require systemwide, high level fixes. Unfortunately there is no political will to make it happen.

    Why not a Tuesday?
Always a Friday. They get it from the teachers.
Like those at my local school who always manage to conjure up a ” staff meeting ” on the Friday afternoon of a long weekend.
As soon as kids and parents are gone at lunchtime it’s like the running start of the Le Mans race to get out of there.
    Staff meeting me hole.
No sympathy for them – many are only teaching because they couldn’t think of anything else to do.
    And it shows.

I think the wheels have come off this one. Aren;t most politicians out canvassing today?

There’s something parental-driven about this whole thing — the new CoderDojo. Some of these campaigning kids are registered charities with PR companies on board FFS.

Fair play to them, hopefully getting out on the streets and marching is a new attribute of this generation of Irish
