Good message even if it is the most Bohs thing ever. Probably won’t be able to wear it in Europe, no, but sure when hasn’t the hypocrisy of the footballing ruling bodies not been to the fore? They’ll make a whack of money and media attention off it that would never have come from a normal kit launch

There is no such thing as bad publicity
Bohs will make some money out of it
People will buy it for the novelty including some Politicians

the far right in Ireland are thankfully one of the few groups here less relevant than us LOI fans

Of course refugees are welcome- I have yet to hear even the biggest critics of immigration say they were not.

Upon arrival from designated war torn countries, refugees are automatically granted asylum so they are not ‘asylum seekers’.

Now if Bohs mean ‘asylum seekers’ are welcome then that is most definitely a political statement- particularity as 99% of asylum applications are rejected.

    1. ReproBertie

70.3% rejection rate in 2018 but that’ll drop drastically now that measures have been taken to prevent bogus asylum claims from Georgia (97% rejected) and Albania (99% rejected).

Thank you Bertie- both countries with near all white populations of course- plus what was recently turned away at the airport of course.

Anyways, it would be helpful if Boh’s clarified what the slogan actually means- refugees or ‘asylum seekers’? There is a difference.

        1. ReproBertie

If there’s a difference and their shirt clearly says “Refugees” then what clarification is needed?

          1. The Queen Mammy

Refugees tend not to be young single males who bugger off and leave the rest of their families to die in war zones.

How are the refugees welcome? Are they giving season tickets to direct provision people at Dalymount?
    Serious question.
I’m a little troubled that bohs will make loads of money for saying this free thing.

    1. Fergalito

Yes, apparently Bohs are and have been very active for years bussing people from Direct Provision centres to matches, providing a venue for various family fun day type events and the like. So there you are now. Serious answer.

Good on them so. (See above declaration of having changed opinion on receipt of new information)

        Yeah!
And Lucky Khambule from MASI and BSOTT organised a solidarity dinner the week before xmas in the clubhouse venue at Dalymount Park.

Remember last year. To celebrate Bob Marleys concert in the former national football stadium , Bohs had the image of Bob on their away jersey. They had to scrap it due to a copyright issue.

That’s far from the only association between reggae and Irish soccer.

“While some may know Marley as a football fan, most may not know that Johnny Giles was (and remains) a huge lover of both reggae music and Jamacian culture. He is affectionately known as ‘Dub Rudie Giles’ amongst the Afro-Caribbean community of Harbourne, Birmingham where he lives today. He has been the chairpeson of the Irish-Jamacian Fraternal Society of Harborne for the last eight years.

Bizarrely, Giles’ love of reggae is all down to George Best…”

I seen this before Otis. Fake news!

Johnny Giles distanced himself from any association to Marley. Like it was a bad thing. Bob was a great footballer by all accounts and if his music career hadn’t taken off he might have togged out against Giles in an international or even a league game.

Giles is into the crooners, he is way to stiff to be on Bob’s vibe.

          2. Otis Blue

Johnny, I’m fully aware it’s made up. It’s ludicrous beyond belief. But it’s really well done imo.

I know they have done some great work with people in direct provision centres in Dublin. They have provided transport and tickets to games. They’ve also held special events for families in direct provison in Dalymount. Fair play to them for providing a bit of respite to those in direct provison.

Most of the people in DP are Asylum Seekers

      Just saying

But I like what Bohs are doing and have been trying to do

  5. Optimus Grime

FIFA may not allow it but they will permit a World Cup to be held in a country with a somewhat dubious human rights record

  6. Charger Salmons

    In soccer yes.
But as we’re the only country on the planet to win world cups in football, rugby and cricket we don’t tend to get too sniffy about it.
Anyway, are you feeling confident about Slovakia or do you think the Irish will be playing the 33rd Team card again ?
