I always try to open the window on the bus, and always have. I prefer to breathe fresh air instead of other people’s Covid-19 breath. Basically, if the windows are getting steamed up, then you’re re-breathing what everyone else has already breathed. The new bus windows don’t blast air into your face either, it’s directed upwards. If it reduces the temperature a bit – well, you’re wearing a coat, aren’t you? The air was probably only warm before because – as I’ve said – it was inside other people’s lungs.

You sound like you need to get a bike, Janet – perfect mode of transport for the more neurotic commuter.

I was going to comment similarly, Ringsend Incinerator – they’re a tiny bit older than me, but they take a good pic. I’ve never met (Sir) Bob formally, but in ’94, I was the bottom end of carrying a road-case down the spirally bit of the Comedy Theatre stair in Leicester Square – Bob and Paula (carrying Peaches) were walking upstairs and tried to make small as we tried to make by. There was a thing where I had to ask Bob and Paula to stand back – Bob didn’t reply. I think it was a polite growl, actually he was lovely. The guy at the top end of the road-case was a director of the Theatre and was so over-awed to meet Bob Geldolf – he told me to do the talking. You should apply for a job with these guys,
they could do with a powerful inquiring and
wondering mind like yours, I’ve no doubt!
So there we have it. Repro and the Bean Savage placing their trust in the HSE and criticism for people calling out the lack of professionalism in the HSE.
As per Repro yesterday…. “The HSE gave out all the information needed to keep people safe while trying to avoid a panic. Sadly there are enough doom merchants like yourself out there that the panic spread anyway. You must be proud.”
A quick look at the Daily Mail above says it all. The HSE. They gave out information that wouldn’t have kept people safe. They’ve now created a panic.
Some professionals eh? Some panic merchants eh?
Repro must be very proud eh?
Rosette of Sirius
I get it. The Blueshirt HSE is in the pocket of Big Toilet Paper. They want the panic buying and the chaos so they can flog surgical face masks on Adverts.ie for a tenner apiece. It’s all part of a global conspiracy to make white people hate Asians too. I hope you’ve stocked up on Andrex….
GiggidyGoo
I’d say quite a few here have stocked up on Kleenex
ReproBertie
“A quick look at the Daily Mail”
LOL!
I take it you’re in isolation to protect yourself since you think it’s all so very serious. Better safe than sorry, right?
“The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”
GiggidyGoo
Not only the Mail. It’s reported in the Indo and elsewhere.
“And the response of for today’s psalm is – Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
– Up to yesterday, 397 people had been tested and the results have been negative. The exceptions are the two confirmed cases.
– Response! Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
– There is danger if you had contact with the first person who has been diagnosed.
– Response! Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
– There is no danger if you have been in contact with the first person who has been diagnosed
– Response! Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
– Sorry – there is danger if you had contact with the first person who has been diagnosed.
– Response! “ Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
– Ok you’ve been tested, we are waiting for the results but you’re OK to mix and mingle with large groups of people in an enclosed area for up to two hours until the results come through.
-Response! “Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
Isn’t it about time you admitted that your trust in the HSE is misplaced Repro?
ReproBertie
The second case is a woman who picked it up in Italy. She didn’t get infected by contact with the first patient. Damn facts ruining your scaremongering.
So, are you in isolation then Chicken Licken?
GiggidyGoo
Nothing you’ve posted above addresses your blind trust in the HSE. Me – well I will avoid infected locations that eventually become public knowledge. I use those alcohol-based handwashes. Not much apart from that, If I get it, I get it. If i’m in contact with it i’ll certainly go into isolation. But it’s a lack of proper HSE information that will bring that about.
Oh Lordship Repro Bertie, we place all our trust in the HSE and Whatsapp”
ReproBertie
So, aside from groundlessly cowering in fear from areas where a patient is identified, you’ll be following the HSE’s advice.
Looks like, for all your bluster, you’re taking it just as seriously as they are with just a hint of baseless paranoia added. Clearly even Chicken Licken trusts in the HSE.
GiggidyGoo
No i use common sense. Unlike yourself who believes everything the HSE says.
I note you still shy away from admitting that the HSE can’t be trusted on the information they’re disseminate.
E.g. “We have tested 397 people and the results have been negative”
only to add on at the end that actually the results weren’t negative as there were exceptions.
The first person was tested, allowed to go home and mingle in an enclosed area with a band. Even though at that stage he was a suspected case.
With regard to that first case, after allowing him home as above, the HSE then say it’s dangerous if you had a contact with him.
Then they say it’s not dangerous.
Then they say, again, it is dangerous.
And those are the people you place your trust in? Explains a lot alright.
ReproBertie
HSE guidelines – common sense (with a hint of tinfoil hat paranoia)
Potayto – (baked) potahto
The HSE guidelines have laid out the risk from close contact with a confirmed case from day one. I don’t know where you got the idea that they said close contact wasn’t dangerous but then I don’t know where you get your ideas about most of the stuff you post. One too many acorns to the head?
GiggidyGoo
Do you consider what they’ve said as outlined as guidelines?
“With regard to that first case, after allowing him home as above, the HSE then say it’s dangerous if you had a contact with him.
Then they say it’s not dangerous.
Then they say, again, it is dangerous.”
More like creating the panic you refer to.
ReproBertie
Back to playing semantics again? Guidelines, advice, call it Granny’s Peach Tea if you like but it’s the information the HSE gives out about how to protect yourself from the virus and what to do if you show symptoms. You know, the advice you are following despite trying to ridicule it at every turn. Wash your hands, use a tissue, cough into your elbow, if you show symptoms isolate and contact the health services.
I doubt the HSE said “dangerous” but when did they say it was “not dangerous” to have contact with the first patient?
GiggidyGoo
When they tested the patient and allowed him away with no advice as to whether to self – isolate or not. They don’t have to say the actual words.
ReproBertie
Oh, the HSE are issuing telepathic instructions now?
What time was he tested and when were the public telepathically informed that it was fine to approach him?
GiggidyGoo
If someone is tested, it’s for a reason. If the test results are only available at a later stage, then the clever medical advice would be to self-isolate. Don’t be such a gobpoo.
ReproBertie
So what time was he tested?
some old queen
What really worries me is that Harris is in charge.
Hardly. Your entire argument against the HSE today has been that the HSE telepathically told the public it was safe to approach the patient. Unless you can prove otherwise this claim is based entirely on your notion of him being tested and then released into the wild while they waited for his results. So back up your claim by telling us what time he was tested and then we can follow up with your knowledge of his movements between the test and him being taken to hospital.
Off you go.
GiggidyGoo
Who said anything about the HSE saying it was safe to approach?
Here are the simple facts
a) HSE advised Underage Band by letter to Isolate after contact with cornavirus patient.
b) HSE posts message on Twitter that the letter was fake (Note to Repro – do try and keep up)
c) HSE deletes post from Twitter and says that the letter was received by the Underage Band.
Grow up. You’ve run out of road.
ReproBertie
You might want to read Giggidygoo’s posts above. He repeatedly says that the HSE said it wasn’t dangerous to approach the patient. He also says that the patient was tested and then sent on his way and that the HSE told us there was no danger in having contact with him.
We’re just waiting for him to back that up.
GiggidyGoo
Repro – you’re making quite a fool of yourself. A bit of Walter Mitty about your posts.
Grow up. You’ve run out of road.
ReproBertie
Painted yourself into a corner didn’t you? Claim after claim after claim with nothing to back it up. Now you’re reduced to pathetic insults to try and get me to move on and ignore the mess you’ve made.
Dream on.
What time was the patient tested? Simple question. Can’t you answer it?

Just throwing this out there, for anyone willing to offer an opinion…
I won a tidy sum in the lotto last month. We booked a family holiday in the middle of May heading to Portugal for a week, and the win covered the cost.
Have I wasted the money? I know insurance doesn’t cover “pandemics” if it comes to that.
I’ll be gutted if it does come to not being able to go. I’m not too keen on bringing an infant on a plane, nor through airports….
Anyway, am I over reacting?
Cian
Firstly – congrats!
It really depends on what happens over the next few months. If you choose not to travel because of the coronavirus then you can’t claim on insurance.
If you decide now not to go you might be able to cancel the holiday – depends on how you booked it – with no or a small fee (T&Cs apply but the sooner you cancel the cheaper if is).
Clampers Outside
Thanks Cian, and cheers for the tip :)
Lobster
Airlines might be fairly ruthless on costs, I think accommodation would be likely to allow for a postponement rather than cancellation? I’d ask anyway, if you end up losing airfare, and having autumn instead of spring break that might be worth it. And Portugal in oct bank holiday would be paradise!
Lobster
Oh, and try not worry too much, nobody understands why but kids under 10 don’t seem to be getting the virus too badly, if they get it at all. Not saying you’re wrong to play safe, but it is something to bear in mind.
Rob_G
Congrats!
Insurance may cover pandemics, if the place you are flying to is on the list of places where the DFA has issued travel advisory for (though Portugal isn’t on the list, so it may be academic in this case).

What really worries me is that Harris is in charge.

Repro – you’re scraping the gobpoo level at the end of the barrel. Face it – you’ve run out of road on this one.

Not just Harris. Holohan isn’t the most reliable advisor to Harris.

Off you go.
Repro – you’re making quite a fool of yourself. A bit of Walter Mitty about your posts.
Grow up. You’ve run out of road.
Painted yourself into a corner didn’t you? Claim after claim after claim with nothing to back it up. Now you’re reduced to pathetic insults to try and get me to move on and ignore the mess you’ve made.
Dream on.
What time was the patient tested? Simple question. Can’t you answer it?
calm down.

Firstly – congrats!
It really depends on what happens over the next few months. If you choose not to travel because of the coronavirus then you can’t claim on insurance.
If you decide now not to go you might be able to cancel the holiday – depends on how you booked it – with no or a small fee (T&Cs apply but the sooner you cancel the cheaper if is).
Thanks Cian, and cheers for the tip :)
Airlines might be fairly ruthless on costs, I think accommodation would be likely to allow for a postponement rather than cancellation? I’d ask anyway, if you end up losing airfare, and having autumn instead of spring break that might be worth it. And Portugal in oct bank holiday would be paradise!
Oh, and try not worry too much, nobody understands why but kids under 10 don’t seem to be getting the virus too badly, if they get it at all. Not saying you’re wrong to play safe, but it is something to bear in mind.
Congrats!
Insurance may cover pandemics, if the place you are flying to is on the list of places where the DFA has issued travel advisory for (though Portugal isn’t on the list, so it may be academic in this case).

Anyway, the quarantine is already being eased in China, so things might have calmed down by mid-May anyhow.
Thanks all, bit of reading up for me there, much appreciated.
Haven’t done the sums on the full set of Super Tuesday’s results yet
But Bernie’s 415 delegates from California must be worth something when it comes to convention
Jaysus I’d love it
A brokered convention toxic to the brim with splits slander and conspiracies
And balloons
