This is happening in Cooley, Co Louth right now as parish priest Fr Malachi Conlan being driven around in actual Popemobile that was used in Scotland and South Africa in 1982 as he gives an Easter blessing to everyone. ah here
Very moving.
It’s not what it seems. It is in fact part of some unseen footage from ‘Father Ted, the lost tapes’. Great to see, proper attention to detail with the old art department and stuff.
I’m telling
call me Supergrass if ye like
Somebody run that reg plate through the gardai’s PULSE system! Pronto!
Well they’re definitely outside the 2k anyway

In the middle of a pandemic which mainly kills old people, that is all you have to do.
What is your age btw? I am guessing around 30.

I assumed the O.B. to be more mature; in every sense.
mind your manners now, soq
nobody talks to old boy like that
That was a moment’s “copy and paste” from the DVLA’s publicly available vehicle checker, inspired by D’s comment above. I use it occasionally in the course of my work.
I’m not sure why it irks you so. I wish I was still in the first flush of youth, as you incorrectly speculate. I usually refrain from getting into bad-tempered exchanges here – God knows I have enough of them in the real world – but you have a nerve accusing others of having “nothing better to do”.
@SOQ – I never get involved in squabbling on here if I can avoid it but The Old Boy is one of the good guys, I think you probably got the wrong end of the stick here.
You absolute fluking nasty clown. I have an aunt who came outside for that.
When the red mist clears, you may be able to see who you should be directing your ire towards.
Where are those Garda Checkpoints now
FFS
Kinda sounds like a vehicle that Garda Harris could make some use of to transport thugs to evictions.
The article title is brilliant.
Sweden
€2,500 fine. That’s 7 weeks of COVID 19 unemployment payments covered for someone.
Not a catholic country. No siree.
Jayzus….

How do they give out communion? To cyclists at the back?
Time would be far better spent using the vehicle to deliver meals or supplies to those that need them.
Or to chuck Easter Eggs out the back…
or to keep their faith in a church were it belongs
All the usual so- I know Cooley well- it is a country area with many quarantined elderly people. That you sneer at old people having the opportunity to say a few brief prayers together says a lot more about you than anyone else.
Have some respect for your elders please- they know way more than you.
It’s not about the special old peole of Cooley or even the special priest and his special car. Everyone else in the country is being told if they don’t stay within 2km of their homes they’re on a par with Harold Shipman.
I’m neither religious or spiritual but fair play in fairness……
Spotted at lily finnegans, riverstown.
It’s grand lads, malachy’s got this one.
On a side note, I understand the term ‘Popemobile’ was first coined by the Irish – not sure whom – when Pope JP2 came here. Even though popes has been transported by various vehicles, I was told it was us that coined the term.
If true, nice we have had a funny lasting legacy.
I saw him in it in Maynooth when he came, as part of the family entourage. Next time I saw him was in the plaza before the beautiful Zagreb cathedral that was so badly damaged recently. A man was walking his pet tiger that day, which I must admit I remember better
No issues here, as per the act signed by Harris. A priest or minister of any religion is an essential person and can lead worship remotely…
I would consider Cooley remote…
