I’m Glad I Spent It With You

The ‘Bemused’ clan.

They just keep hanging on

Broadsheet commenter ‘Slightly Bemused’ writes:

A few weeks ago Nick had a competition and I spouted on about Perfect Day and how my family were doing our own version. I promised to keep people updated

Today, the results landed (above), and my brother posted it to YouTube, so I guess it is public.

Not the world’s best performance, but not the worst either. In any event, my family – 5 generations across 4 continents represented. I am in there, but I am not telling :-)

PS They are now talking about a sequel, and looking for suggestions.

Anyone?

Meanwhile…

I thought this might be a good place to share a video some friends put together during the current lockdown. The writer, videographer and vocalist all live together as housemates.

    Beautiful!
    Thanks for sharing Slightly Bemused.

Singing is petfectly heart felt, which is the most important thing about singing.

    Very well edited

I think wearing the headphones through a lot off – it certainly did me. The few more used to it (some are professional musicians) stand out.
The editing was done by the brother (last person in yellow t-shirt) who is really good at both audio and video stuff.
The lady in the still of the video is his daughter, who won gold at the World Championship of Performing Arts for R&B a few years back, with a friend of hers.

Nah, that’s one of the American cousins :)

If it was me, the bottles would likely be empty after this amount of time in lock-in… I mean lock-down! :-)

Thanks Bodger for posting that second clip from Mick. I really liked it!

The empty streets of Dublin at the beginning is really surreal. The last time I remember them that empty in daylight was about 5 am of a Sunday morning as I walked home from a party to where I lived in Rathmines at the time.

Is this the ‘Find SB’ for the day? :)

Sorry, no. That is cousin John, brother of the Hujo mentioned by Nick above.

I will give you a hint. In the opening photo of most of the clan (not all, by any means, and it has grown since then), I am sitting in the front row with my daughter in my lap.She is now in college, so it may give an indication how long ago that was :-)

Well done all Bemused Clan, very nice, great job, I hope you all are well and happy. Kudos to Brother Bemused for doing the edit, nicely done.

Is that you Slightly at 1:39? :-)

  7. Liam Deliverance

Yay!, found ya, Ive actually watched this a few more times, quite amusing, did you each have to record the whole song, if so there must be some good outtakes too?!

    1. Slightly Bemused

Yes, we were asked to do the whole song. My brother had to listen to them all and choose the best bits for each line. In my case, probably choosing the only line I sang remotely in tune :-)

Some of the best bits were the practice ones shared, and a phenomenal version my my cousin’s son (he is the one with the still photo). But I do not have access to them, and not sure I should share anyway.

I’m a terrible singer so lets say I’d be very nice to the brother for a good while! I’d say he had a great laugh doing the “auditions”. Good luck to you all, thanks for sharing, and since you asked for suggestions!

Great song! I will submit it to the adjudication committee (aka my sister :-) )

As for the bro, I think he needs therapy from the auditions… :-D

  8. Clampers Outside

Brilliant stuff… Brought a big smile to my face that grew as I watched it! Fair play to all the Bemused extended family :0)

  9. Slightly Bemused

I am really glad you all enjoyed this, and I hope it brought a smile to your faces! If we do a sequel, I will ask the ‘Sheet to post it once done.

I saw a couple of Blake siblings in there. Nice to see. They’ve had a tough few months.

    1. Slightly Bemused

Indeed, it was a sudden and sad loss.

But this really is a small world. Also, a large family :-)
