Bozo says “We can’t photoshop our history.” No, they just delete large sections. British people don’t learn about the atrocities of their empire. It is crazy that people accept MBE’s, OBE’s, etc. It shows that people don’t get it.
Churchill was a mass murderer, like Stalin and Hitler. I look forward to when enough British people realise this and take down that statue. These statues should be replaced by ones commemorating the victims of the British Empire.

    Mmm,let me think now.
Thousands of brave Irish lads who went over to fight for Churchill against the Nazis or a keyboard warrior wearing only Y-fronts and a tinfoil hat.
Whose judgement do I trust the most ….?

You can be pedantic about the line of command versus motivation if you wish, the result is the same.

Not really when coming from mr salmon, I am very sure he chose his words very carefully. He would be quite happy to see a war against fascism as one in favour of empire and everything else Churchill supported.

More people in Ireland seem to care about the British Empire than anyone I know in dear old Blighty.
Literally no-one gives a toss about something that ended before most people were born.
They care even less about events in Ireland a century ago.In fact, whisper it quietly, they couldn’t give a rat’s botty about Ireland in general. It’s not that they don’t like Ireland or don’t warmly welcome all the Irish people who come to live among them but they just don’t attach much importance to a small, neighbouring country of little consequence.
            Soz and all that.
They don’t even dislike the Germans.
They’re not too keen on the French but generally they pretty much get on with everyone.
Mind you the Australians cheat at cricket and that really is beyond the pale.

“warmly welcome all the Irish people who come to live among them”

James McClean would not be alone in disagreeing with this delusion.

He’s enjoying the soup though …
Not bad for a another Irish journeyman pro.

@Charger (probably an ironic name) I would be confident that the brave Irish lads would have preferred a better leader than Churchill. You should probably trust historians. If you ask some Irish people about the Black and Tans, I am confident you will get an accurate view of them.

Paper never refused ink. ‘Journalists’ never refuse press releases.
The message that FFGR want to get out is that Eamon Ryan has achieved something – to try keep Catherine Martin from winning the Green leadership election, and to try win over the green members into voting for the agreement.

As it stands, Ryan is losing out on those two counts. The members of the green party are young and educated, and they see the damage that will be done to them courtesy of a fool at the helm.

And don’t think for a moment that Michilín has a majority of support either. The FF grassroots have had enough of him selling out the party for his own personal pedestal-hunting.

    1. Niallo

Can someone explain, how the sworn enemies who lost the election, kicked the can down the road by 5 months and then buddied up with the loopy greens to form a cabinet that’s reminiscent of the one that drove us into the poorhouse 10 years ago, while comprehensively excluding the party that got the highest percentage of the vote ?
I’m no shinner but this stinks !
Ah but sure, we’ve all forgotten about that now what with Covid, and MM will get his pension now and sure, thats all that really matters isnt it.

The joke FFG anti citizen “program for government” being sold to the Greens is basically an intelligence test for their membership. Despite their two faced hypocritical lying numptie leadership swearing that they would not go into government with Fine Gael, are the membership going to reject the lies? Or will they demonstrate they also have no principles as well and behave like compliant little vegetables, accept it and forever be damned by the electorate.

    1. ReproBertie

As a member of the electorate who voted Green in the hopes that the Green party would get into government and implement some Green policies I certainly won’t be damning them for doing exactly that.

  5. Charger Salmons

It’s taken them 127 days to come up with not very much.
Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
Overseas aid up and lots of new cycle lanes.
But nothing on key election issues like childcare and pensions.
Welcome to another five years of same old, same old with no Opposition and a complicit media.
Ireland is still being short-changed by its politicians.
And Sinn Fein, understandably, will go from strength to strength.

    1. ReproBertie

Pensions was an election issue? Well I guess the people who voted on that issue will be interested in the reports that it is one of the issues to be finalised by the party leaders today.

Overseas aid up, new cycle lanes, more spending on public transport, abolition of DP, greenhouse gas emissions cut to 7%. Same old same old.

      1. Charger Salmons

You think the electorate in February was concerned about new cycle lanes and overseas aid ?
Yeah I remember that angry debate well…
Housing, childcare and pensions were what came up on the doorstep not a Swampy Green agenda.
Lets hope they don’t cause the same havoc they did last time they came near power.

        1. ReproBertie

You think the electorate that voted Green in February weren’t concerned about new cycles lanes?

I can’t imagine you spent a lot of time on the doorsteps but perhaps when we see the published PfG we’ll know what the plans are for housing, childcare and pensions.

        2. Rob_G

Do you think that the electorate in England in 2017 were concerned with giving Norn Iron an extra billion quid in free money, and keeping same-sex marriage and abortion illegal there?

Well, probably not, but that’s the thing about democracy, it throws the odd curve-ball.

          1. Charger Salmons

Get off your knees man and cast off your inferiority complex.
            You’ll feel better for it.

          2. bisted

…you tans have given stonking majorities to two Eton educated members of the Bullingdon club in the past few years…and we are the ones with an inferiority complex?

          3. Rob_G

the first time anyone on BS has accused me thinking myself inferior to anyone, I msut say…

          4. Charger Salmons

That’s what happens when you compare everything to Blighty.
You need to wrestle yourself away from the comfort blanket of Britannia’s teat.
Mature as a nation and stop using people who left here a century ago as an excuse for your own shortcomings .

  6. Johnny

Most people have Cian just few bigots on here who have not – you must have forgotten mention this anniversary in your trip down memory lane-balance and all that nonsense-there is a Crimes of Britain web site -if you like I can post daily anniversary’s for you…

“The Dublin and Monaghan bombings of 17 May 1974 were a series of co-ordinated bombings in Dublin and Monaghan, Ireland. Three bombs exploded in Dublin during the evening rush hour and a fourth exploded in Monaghan almost ninety minutes later. They killed 33 civilians and a full-term unborn child, and injured almost 300”
