Tried my best while watching the TV news but didn’t see a single cop in London protected by just a Hi-Viz vest and baseball cap take a knee today.
And all those on Twitter outraged by the ‘thuggery’ were somehow strangely quiet last weekend.
    Funny dat.

    1. jamesjoist

Isn’t it gas all the same , Johnson condemning the racist thuggery on which his beloved British Empire was built.

    2. Charger Salmons

Of course if you get your news from the broadcasting arm of the Labour Party, the BBC, you’ll learn that yesterday’s “violent London protests” resulted in 6 police officers being injured, while last weekend’s “largely peaceful protests” left 27 police officers injured.
      Even funnier dat.

      1. Nigel

Isn’t it weird how, five years after the Gender Recognition Act, absolutely nothing bad seems to have happened as a result?

    1. Nigel

A vulnerable minority being hounded and villified and stripped of hard-won rights and protections. Good job.

      1. Nigel

Don’t forget to applaud Trump who just repealed Obama-era protections for trans people seeking health care, though of caurse he’s been steadily working to make it legal to discrminate against lgbt folks all along, so well done that guy.

        1. Clampers Outside

Your suggestion re Trump is yours, and simply you equating Self ID with Health Care… which is stupid beyond belief.

Self ID was never won as a right. No protections or rights were hard-won because they were not there.

If you wish for me to comment on the US situation, please provide a link as I am not up on that, and I’ll take a look when I can, thanks.

In the meantime, stick your Trump-rage where the sun doesn’t shine….

Your tantrum is pathetic. Non-TRA Activist trans persons are celebrating, and good for them, regardless of what you think.

          1. Nigel

Literally denying that trans people have a right to self-id. This has ramifications at almost every level of their lives, including health care. Anyone with half a brain and a shred of decency can spot this is the thin end of a big anti-lgtb wedge.

For someone so laser-foccused on trans issues, you’re remarkably ignorant about trans issues.

          2. Clampers Outside

Medical treatments for men and women vary massively in ma y areas of medicine. Self ID’ing as x when one is y is not going to benefit the patient.

Self ID does not change one’s biology. Your argument is simply silly. Stupid even.

          3. Nigel

Allowing people to self-id as the gender that matches their gender dysphoria seems like literally the very least that could be done to help them and acknowledge them, and witholding that right is an act of such petty meanness and spite it’s hard to believe oh no, wait, it’s not hard to believe at all.

          4. Clampers Outside

Sure Nigel, kids and adults who want to be able to go to the toilet or the pool or compete in sports, etc. and have sex segregated privacy and fair competition do so out of spite…

Are you that convinced you and the TRAs are not the spiteful ones in fairness…. Clearly you are locked into this anti-science ideological postmodernist echo chamber. Deluded by the ideology even… Pitiful…

          5. SOQ

WRONG- the self-ID crew do not accept that you need to have gender dysphoria in order to be Trans- that is the whole point?

          6. Nigel

Hard to see how anyone who would exclude trans girls from girl’s toilets and expose them to danger by forcing them to use the boys’ isn’t operating out of anything but hatred.

Yeah, SOQ, given the current atmosphere I can see people lining up to claim to be trans when they are not.

          7. SOQ

            Cross-Dresser
            Drag King
            Drag Queen
            Gender Fluid
            Nonconforming
            Non-binary
            Genderqueer
            Intersex
and this list goes on and on.

NONE of which are transgender and most of which look and act exactly the same as before- but all claim to be Trans?

Self-ID means I can wake up tomorrow morning and declare that I am a woman- I don’t even have to shave my 7 day facial hair growth.

That is not advancing the cause of gay people and it is most definitely not advancing the cause of REAL transgenders.

          8. Nigel

All of those have been around forever, it’s just that some of them have recently acquired names. If you’re arguing against inclusivity in a community that share certain traits, well, go ahead, but it’s hardly the end of the bloody world.

If a man decides to declare himself a woman even though they aren’t trans – that’s not the fault of trans people. That’s a problem with non-trans men. Creating bogeymen to scare people with isn’t helping anyone, at all.

          9. SOQ

Forever? LOL Drag maybe but no most have not and they are coming up with new ones all the time. It’s just silly and IMO very disrespectful when they try to speak on behalf of people who really are transgender.

You can now be fully a transitioned transgender AND be transphobic according to these militant ejits.

      2. SOQ

Self ID does nothing for transgender people Nigel- they still have to go through the same hoops before transitioning. It does however, allow any individual the right to identify as the opposite gender without ever any intention of even dressing as such- which is why some transgender people also object to it.

This is what the parody woke account https://twitter.com/JarvisDupont is about. A ‘woman’ with a beard who gets annoyed when lesbians reject ‘her’ advances.

        1. Nigel

Oh, I bet there are some transgender people who object. But not most. Such a simple little thing to deny them out of, what, spite? Fear? Yeah, the image of a ‘woman with a beard’ demanding lesbians accept their advances seems like the perfect parody of that fear and spite.

          1. Clampers Outside

“But not most” is a claim based on what exactly? The volume of noise made by activists? It’d be ridiculous if that is it, if not, please do elaborate the basis of such a claim.

          2. Clampers Outside

The teenage girl, 13, that one her case to be able to go to a bathroom that is for girls….. She fought for that out of “spite” did she?

You’re so ridiculous at this point, it beggars belief.

          3. SOQ

They object because they find it offensive to who and what they are?

Any transgender I know fully accept they have gender dysphoria and their goal is to transition their body to as close to their internal gender as they can get. That is both physically and emotionally a long and sometimes painful journey, which any decent person should appreciate.

Which is very different to this new breed with twenty odd labels and pronouns which would take a week to memorize who in the main have no intention of ever actually doing anything about changing their gender.

          4. Nigel

If ‘some’ object it seems a safe assumption that ‘most’ do not.

So, what, she wanted to exclude trans girls? That does sound spiteful, actually.

SOQ – so, out of spite for the ‘new breed.’ Got it.

          5. Clampers Outside

Sex rights and wanting them maintained is spiteful….

Have you any idea how misogynist you are. I doubt it…

          6. Nigel

Not sure such an entrenched and committed anti-feminist as yourself would know misogyny if it came up and told you to get in the kitchen and make it a sandwich.

          7. Clampers Outside

Rallying against the misandry entrenched in some feminist theory and practice is something I will never be ashamed of. There are also many feminists who argue as I do, people who believe in genuine equality.

          8. SOQ

            No Nigel you’ve got nothing.

If you can’t be bothered finding out how many different categories there now are under the Trans Umbrella- I suggest you stop trowing insults around just because it doesn’t suit your limited knowledge on the subject.

Do you even know anyone who is transgender?

          9. Nigel

Annoyance with people having a multiplicity of categories isn’t going to win any sympathy from me and is no justification for anything, frankly, other than telling the kids to get off your lawn. Yes, I know a number of trans people, young and old. I also know a number of people who find all those sub-categories that rile you up useful for exploring their own sexual identity, too, and gaining confidence from it. In a live and let live world we’d leave them to it and refrain from mockery and contempt.

          10. Clampers Outside

I don’t think SOQ, and I know I, would be happy to leave them to it. But they don’t leaa e it there when demands for Self ID tto be given equal access to sex segregated spaces.

You’re talking absolute nonsense at this point.

          11. Nigel

Exactly, Clamps, you’re an absolute sucker for any revisionist reactionary anti-feminist anti-trans nonsense that comes along.

          12. Clampers Outside

“revisionist”? There’s not hi g revisionist about it.

Again, you’re just throwing any old accusation out at this point. You are being ridiculous.

          13. Nigel

Trans people have had access to sex-segregated spaces since forever. Forcing them out of them puts them at risk of their lives, not to mention exposing women who appear androgynous or ‘mannish’ to harassment. It would be repressive and transphobic (and misogynist – nobody seems to give a flying feck about trans men using male spaces) and an absolute triumph for the hard-core religious right.

          14. Clampers Outside

Again, you are equating self ID as trans. See SOQ’s previous comment on that silliness.

Self ID’ing persons have not had access since forever to sex segregated spaces.

Where the heck did you pull that one out of?
Seriously I’d love to hear a response to that.

          15. Nigel

No, i said I think trans people should have the right to self-id, and trans people have had access to sex-segregated spaces forever, if you’re not going to read my comments you should probably go wander off and shout at cows about how all feminists hate men or whatever it is.

          16. Clampers Outside

Trans persons who have transitioned are not affected by the abandonment of Self ID.

            You are still talking nonsense.

      1. SOQ

There is not a set correlation between the trans issue and gay rights. Some countries which are are deeply homophobic like Iran and Pakistan have a much less repressive view of trans people.

          1. Nigel

Just to check, but you do realise that such a barbaric practice would have absolutely nothing to do with trans people, right?

          2. Clampers Outside

Yes. Follow the comment thread, you’ll see why the comment was made. Go straight to SOQ’s.

          3. Nigel

This is the second time I’ve seen the two of you bring this up in the context of anti-trans comments, as if it’s a critique of trans people rather than the regimes. Perhaps you should be careful to distinguish it from your other, ant-trans, comments, or they might all blend together.

          4. Clampers Outside

You’re clearly not reading who has been fighting to stop this, as per my original link, and SOQs further comments, all of which are trans arguments by trans people.

          5. Nigel

Oh, so trans people are greeting these measures with open arms? They’re delighted and fully supportive? All of them? Most of them? Some of them? A handful? Absolutely no pushback from trans people at all? Along with a few gay men like SOQ who despise the ‘new breed?’

          6. Clampers Outside

No one said all of them, but hey, you do you, you do your silly. No one will ever take that from you.

          7. Nigel

Yes, you were very vague about the degree of support or opposition from trans people, that’s literally why I was asking.

        1. Nigel

Well at the moment there *seems* to be way more hate and repression directed towards trans in the UK and the US, and maybe even here, than towards lgb, that’s no reason not to keep them linked, out of solidarity if out of nothing else.

          1. Clampers Outside

Many gay men and women in the UK have said they’ve had enough of the homophobic activism from TRAs and many have decided enough is enough and are splitting from the T. See what’s happening re Stonewall UK for example.

          2. Nigel

‘Many.’ Yeah, sure. Using transphobia to split the lgbt movement was a genius idea, wherever it came from, and it might even work.

          3. Daisy Chainsaw

That’s because they can no longer discriminate against the LGB part of the acronym, but the T part can be treated like a black person in 1950s America and forced to use a different bathroom to their “betters”.

          4. Nigel

And people who are trans AND black seem to have it incredibly bad, but yeah, it’s great news that they can soon be excluded from the few safe places thay can currently go.

          5. Clampers Outside

WTF are you on now…. What places are they, Self ID persons, being excluded from that they already could go to?

          6. Nigel

Clampers, there hasn’t been a split. A few transphobic lgbs or whatever dropping the t do not a split make. A splinter, maybe. A token, almost, one might say.

          7. Clampers Outside

One of the main fou ders of Stonewall has broken away… and set up a separate group that isn’t homophobic. You just ignore that if you so desire.

Did you see the paedophile scandal about Uncle Mount Batten and the Kincora Boys Home and how it was used by the British State to spy on/recruit operatives for the State?
It’s a real horror house of abuse and should be well documented by this stage. Why not I wonder?

@Nigel will you be tuning into this on the BBC? ;)

For anyone who hasn’t been following the Skripal affair, the Brits have attempted to use a false flag operation on their own people, in their own country, to justify an attack on Russian and Syrian forces in Syria, back in 2018 similar to the way the White Helmets were used in Syria since 2012.

I personally can’t wait until all the dots are joined and the truth is given the light of day.
There are only a few working on it, but they are very committed and the scandal will be fully exposed eventually.

I see the “Irish” Mail on Sunday have yet another British Royal Family photo on their front page. They really are more like an English paper now. They are showing minimal support of Irish writers, photographers, etc.

      1. Tom

No, I just find it extraordinary that a so called Irish paper keeps putting pictures of members of the British Royal Family on its front pages i.e. Megan Markle, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, etc. They even had Boris Johnson with his new child as lead photo! Check back through their front pages (easy to do on the Internet nowadays) Irish pictures are few and far between. Do you not think this is odd, for an Irish paper?

        1. Charger Salmons

Perhaps if you bought the newspaper instead of relying on free Irish content on the internet then the Mail might employ more Irish journalists to bring you more Irish stories?Journalism doesn’t come cheap.

As I said I did buy it in the past, when there was mostly Irish content. The circulation figures last month they sold around 22,000 per day, if you take out the Saturday sales they sell 20,000 a day. They sold 50,000+ up until recently. Why have their sales collapsed? Not having much Irish content is largely the reason.

Hi Rob, can you imagine the outcry if SF had murdered all those lovely grandparents, who died alone,by all accounts its a horrific death-for me as a man of faith the govt denying my grandfather the right to practice his religion and be surrounded by his family would be hard get over……not so sure when the full story of yet another murdering spree by FG is told if Leo will be held in such high esteem….

      1. Rob_G

Do you think there would have been zero deaths among elderly population if SF were in charge; SF are currently in government in N.I, how is the death rate looking up there?

        1. Johnny

Typical FG response so its a league table now is it-how is such and such doing,on a Sunday too when most Irish people are observing and the families of these murdered by FG’s negligence and misallocation of resources are mourning.
The families of these murder victims deserve the same compassion and empathy as you have shown over many many posts for the victims of the IRA in the 1970’s,oh right its not political convenient,no cheap points score huh….

          1. Rob_G

The mere fact that you would compare a government doing their level-best (though not always succeeding) against a deadly virus, to SF/IRA’s murdering innocents in cold-blood, only serves to show how morally-bankrupt you are as a person.

Harrowing listen Rob,your in no position to judge ‘level best’ its way way too early to make that judgement, just listen to this..morally bankrupt indeed and there are many ‘whistleblowers’ coming forward.

There isn’t a Government in the North. There’s an Assembly. The North is governed by Westminster.

          1. Rob_G

Tautology – they can still enact legislation (when they decide to turn up, that is). You know, like when SF voted to cut nurses’ salaries when Michelle O’Neill was minister for health.

          2. GiggidyGoo

Again – NI is governed by Westminster. The Assembly has to enact Westminster’s legislation. Failure to do so would result in the assembly being disbanded. (You know, the self same non-Assembly you were gloating about?)

Westminster also finances NI. SF or DUP have no part to play, apart from working within the constraints of Westminster, which holds the purse strings, and decides the pay levels for its public servants.

But you know all of that – I’ve outlined it many times to you, and to Cian, when you try the diversionary tactic.

          3. Johnny

So that’s why FG shipped those scared lonely fearful loved grandparents off to die alone, denying them their rights to practice their religion, cause SF cut nurses in NI-more whatabout…last rites please I’m observant nah sorry nana,FG says you can’t have any visitors….but I may go hell ….make sure you thank Leo when you get there nana….

          4. Rob_G

They were not given the last rites to stop the spread of a virus, not for the craic. I’d say the 10 workers the the PIRA murdered in cold blood at Kingsmill because they were Protestants probably felt that they weren’t allowed to practice their religion, either,

          5. GiggidyGoo

Was waiting for that Rob. You just can’t help yourself. Even MLAL gave up the byelines after Johnny pointed out the stupidity.

There is a fact that over the past 3 months, FG (Harris, Varadkar, etc) made conscious decisions to play God and end people’s lives. That’s history. Very recent history. And you’re commending that. Think about that.

          6. Rob_G

@GiggidyGoo – I know, that’s your great get-out-of-jail card for anything related to SF abysmal record of legislating.

How can you then, on the one hand, blame the DUP for the RHI scandal if the Assembly has no autonomy and only goes through the motions enacting the will of Westminster, and at the same time let SF off the hook for all of their myriad failures in N. Ireland?

          7. Rob_G

also @GiggidyGoo – political parties that actually go into government (rather than sit on the sidelines and sulk for three years) actually are faced with very difficult decisions, which will end up either saving or costing lives in the short run or the long run, depending if they get it right or wrong.

Johnny’s (and now your) equivocation of this with SF/PIRA’s murdering people and dumping them in shallow graves is as crass as it is idiotic.

          8. GiggidyGoo

You must be suffering from over exposure to the sun.

The DUP – Foster at the helm – were pulled up for the Cash For Ash scandal. I’m not surprised of course that the likes of you would be prepared to turn a blind eye to it. That’s exactly how FFG works. And the usual then is the ‘look over there’ line.
And yes, I have to keep repeating so that your lies and diversions are shown up. You haven’t discounted it by the way.

You’re commending, again, Varadkar and Harris for taking decisions like forcing nursing homes to re-open. Sure why not? That’s the FG way. No surprise there.
Sure Noonan hounding of Bridget McCole pales into insignificance doesn’t it?

And despite your other attempt to divert, I didn’t bring the IRA into the discussion. That’s your hobby horse. It’s your go-to safe zone when you’re at a dead end.

          9. Rob_G

As I’ve pointed out to you on several occasions, politicians from both the DUP and SF lobbied for the RHI scheme’s extension, so I’m not sure that it’s the ace-in-the-hole that you seem to think it is…

          10. GiggidyGoo

Enough diversion Rob. The discussion isn’t about Northern Ireland. If that’s something you want to pursue, there’s always The Journal. You’ll be greeted with open arms there.

          11. Rob_G

            :)
When faced a point that he can’t answer, “the discussion isn’t about Northern Ireland”… bless your heart, you’ll get the hang of it someday.

          12. GiggidyGoo

Are you really – really – that dense Rob? Really? Diversion isn’t working Rob. Cut your losses.

          13. Rob_G

Don’t worry GG, I accept your conceding with the good grace with which is was offered.

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”

          14. GiggidyGoo

Nothing as bad as a fool who doesn’t realize he’s a fool. Keep up the good work Rob. FG will always need apologists.

    2. Daisy Chainsaw

It’s like being asked if you’d prefer genital herpes to syphillis. Toryboy V Meehole? That’s not a choice, that’s a dilemma.

    3. GiggidyGoo

The figure is that 28.6% who expressed a preference, was for Varadkar. 71.4% didn’t. I’m surprised Cian wasn’t on posting that.

i.e. 35% didn’t give an opinion which means that Varadkar got 44% of 65% which is 28.6% of 100%.

Even worse for Mehole, as his equates to 11.7%. Or 88.3% didn’t express a preference for him.

Nothing for either to celebrate if 71.4% don’t want Varadkar, and 88.3% don’t want Mehole.

      1. Rob_G

“Nothing for either to celebrate if 71.4% don’t want Varadkar, and 88.3% don’t want Mehole.

That’s funny, because I seem you remember you being near-apoplectic at the notion of Mary Lou not being Taoiseach at a time when 75% of the electorate apparently didn’t want her in that position.

        1. GiggidyGoo

No – I was answering your own ‘she only got 25%’ by pointing out to you that FF got 25% too, and FG got less. Short term memory loss Rob?

The difference here of course is that my figures above relate to just two people and the attempted spin put on it.

Two deadbeats thinking that they have something to offer, that’s Leo and Mehole.

Ffs can we please get some sort of moratorium on this constant squabbling between the Clampers/SOQ tagteam and Nigel, its become tedious beyond belief.
