This morning,

Maynooth, County Kildare.

Jessica O’Callaghan and Stephen Flanagan – the winners of a house raffled in a fundraiser by the Wexford-based Faythe Harriers GAA Club  – pick up the keys to their ‘€405,00 luxury home’.

The 3-bedroom, semi-detached is in Carton Wood, a development on the Dublin Road mid-way between Maynooth and Carton House Estate. Before their win, the pair had been saving for a house while both living with their parents.

Yeah, well done. Think there’s a new footpath there too to bring you down to a side entrance to Carton. Nice location.

Great win. A lot of pressure off them both, and they have their savings too.

But – a 3-bed worth € 405,000 and it’s not even in Dublin? Crazy stuff.

Good luck to them. It’s great that they’re Dublin based and it will become their home, but whoever won it would have made good with it.

they look like a lovely couple. great win. i know a different guy who also won a house on a gaa raffle. he was happy and all, but said for years after the win he we was pressurised to give generously at any fundraising events, eg buy a table at any dinners. he said he was thinking of offering them a few grand politely on the understanding they would stop hassling him for money. though i accept he did do well getting a house.

    Congrats to them! Lucky couple.

Maybe this should be the new housing strategy for the Irish Gov’t? All of the Lotto prizes are houses!!
Let’s face it, its the only way twenty-somethings will get a chance to own a house.
