A Lowry-like view of the Gloucester Diamond named after the diamond-shaped intersection that existed from the late sixties to the 1980s at Gloucester Place and Sean Macdermott Street, Dublin 1.
People for goalposts.

Interesting that Google Map’s “map” view still has the diamond there, but the satellite view shows the reality, that it’s a building site: https://www.google.com/maps/search/Gloucester+Place/@53.3530561,-6.2540387,19.99z
“Up and around by the Gloucester Diamond and back by Napper Tandy’s house”…from Spanish Lady.
The ‘far-famed Gloucester Diamond’ as described by Ronnie Drew in his intro to a rollicking version of Monto on Finnegan Wakes, their 1966 live album recorded in the Olympia.

I

I’d love to get a copy of that, my Ma lived in the Diamond when she was a kid, that’s a great photo!
This is a great read.

It attributes that photo to the North Inner City Folklore project which was the subject of a short film by Se Merry Doyle. I’d say if you asked them nicely for a copy…
