Hon’ de Mná
+1
While I am delighted for her, and wish her well, we really need to move on from where a lady in a position of authority is a thing. We need more of this. Been too long!
Having someone other than a sandbagging gatekeeper freemason (Barret, O Fearghail) as CC is worth smiling about.
Tis O’Fearghail that kicked off with the last crowd about the money messages they were using to hinder the Dáil
In fact he’s been the loudest of all our Parliamentarians about how they’ve been abused.
Whether that continues now that the eFFers hold the Government Whip and the Dept of an Taoiseach remains to be seen
Well don’t blame the Mná that appointments like this are still a novelty in 2020
It is not them I blame. Rearrange the letters, and you get who.
We need more of this. To the point where it should not be a point. This last year has shown how much is brought when we idiot men step back and allow the intelligent ones amongst us to have a say
I wonder how many people care more about the gender of the person in authority, than their ability to do a job, personally I wouldn’t care if they were all women or all men, only that they were chosen as the very best candidate
and yet we have seen time and time again such roles heavily skewing towards men often with very little consideration as to their ability
the gender result doesn’t equate to evidence of dodgy goings on though, it would need some solid evidence to state that it was “because of their gender” that they were obstructed in some way, if that is the case then it would require some real evidence
I do worry if it’s a loss to have somebody like Catherine Connolly being a de facto moderator instead of an active voice in the Dail, tbh
True, but she can allow time to other voices to get time that they normally may not get.
2020 GE candidates:
162 Female (31%) ; 369 Male (69%)
TDs elected
36 Female (23%) ; 123 Male (77%)
To put it another way, only 1 in 5 women got elected, but 1 in 3 men did.
The electorate (are majority female) doesn’t vote for women. Why?
