What says its fake?
We don’t do subscriptions and we rarely use the greeting ‘Howdy’. An otherwise perfect crime.
Why wouldn’t you do subscriptions?, Im subscribed to you, I have exact same email from 2018, with the Howdy greeting, you might have gotten rid of the subscription box on the sidebar but the functionality probably still exists. There is nothing to suggest that email isn’t a legit one from wordpress.
Have you noticed that everything’s gone to hell this year? It’s because you subscribed.

You probably set it up years ago… It might be the email you get when you click “Notify me of new posts by email.”
Ah ok.
It arrived in my email out of nowhere today. Didn’t click subscribe on anything and have never knowing subscribed to anything on WordPress. Could have just been a mistake on WordPress’s end. Just though it was very strange having not requested it.
Flag this one to the special branch.
I am almost disappointed that I did not get one of these :-)
