It was a reprehensible thing to say, wishing a couple to contract a sickness that could kill them, I don’t care who it is or what their politics are, when you stoop to that level you need to really question your own thinking. By all means criticise their actions or words, but wishing a disease is pathetic.

We just need to accept that a lot of overweight 74-year-olds who don’t exercise and mainline Diet Coke daily are going to catch this virus. Can’t let that hold us back, or force us to change our habits. With a little can-do attitude and Youtube videos, we can beat this thing. Which isn’t really a thing, remember. Just a ‘flu.

Might the president, tested daily and famously germphobic, have benefited from wearing a mask/”muzzle” a little more often?

        Who can say.

      2. scundered

George: Do you think the intention was to kill people or what? It’s not as though these decisions are made by one person, is that what you thought, that he makes the decisions?

“If anyone deserves to get it”… that’s a very inhumane way of thinking

        1. Commenter #1

Fair point Scundered. People forget that the Office of the President of the United States actually holds very little power or influence. Basically a figurehead.

        2. george

His actions endangered many. I think his intention was to do whatever he felt was in his own interest whether or not people died unnecessarily. He doesn’t care.

He could have asked his supporters to wear masks instead he mocks people who do and says it’s just a flu that affects very few people.

The man is literally hosting crowded rallies where people aren’t wearing masks or observing any social distancing. Herman Caine died from Covid-19 a couple weeks after attended a Trump rally that was not socially distanced where masks were not worn.

It is clear that this president insists on making many decisions and that others in his administration are afraid to disagree with him. He has done more to endanger lives during Covid-19 than anyone in America and I don’t care that he has it and I won’t shed a tear if it kills him.

          1. george

The 3 adult children he has a relationship with are all horrible people warped by having him as father especially the two sons. I won’t feel sorry for them if their 74 year old father dies.

I can’t imagine he has been much of a father to Baron his only actual child. When Donald Jr. and Ivana suggested the name Donald Sr’s response was “what if he is a loser?”. Most despots have or had kids. Kim Jong-Un is believed to have 3.

And if you want to be accurate he undermined mask wearing from the first day it was recommended by his health officials. He doesn’t wear one when he has close contact with people or ask them to which is how he got it from Hope Hicks. He was still mocking Joe Biden for wearing a mask as recently as the first debate.

The first, and one of very few times he has been seen wearing a mask was in July.
He said in an interview in July that he is favour of masks and he posted 1 tweet. Has he said it any other time? He has said many more negative things about masks. This not showing support for mask wearing. It is minimal lip-service and came at a time when he was being heavily criticised for saying masks don’t work.

          2. Nigel

Speaking of simple human decency, apparently they never informed the Biden campaign about the positive test results – they learned about it from news reports.

‘Chris Wallace, on Fox News, says Cleveland Clinic staff asked everyone in the debate hall to wear masks. Biden’s family did, Trump’s family didn’t. When clinic staff offered Trump’s family masks, the family waved them away’

    1. ZeligIsJaded

You don’t care what their politic are?!

Here’s to the good health of all the world’s despots!

      Am I doing it right?

    2. Nigel

Amazing that such sensitive souls could be put off by this, but not by his mocking Hilary Clinton’s pneumonia, mocking a disabled lawyer, and locking up thousands in awful conditions on the US border, sperating families and putting children in cages.

    3. Clampers Outside

      +1 Scundered.

I think the idea of ‘rise above…’ is lost on those arguing with you. And a preference of ‘sink to theirs’ has been chosen.

Leave ’em at it bhoy! Leave’ em at it.

      1. Scundered

Clampers, I can’t be leaving them at it, someone has to step in before they choke in their own derangement echo chamber :)

    4. ReproBertie

“It was a reprehensible thing to say, wishing a couple to contract a sickness that could kill them”
Just as well he didn’t say that so, right?

  2. Bertie Theodore Alphege Blenkinsop

If you’re offending Good Morning Britain viewers you’re probably doing something right….

  3. Neil Murray

What an odious little man and a vile thing to admit. Him and Trump have more in common than he knows.

  4. Hank

Who’s this dude driving around in the rain at the end under the illusion that anyone cares what he thinks??
So many of those people on YouTube.

  5. Col

One could argue that Trump’s diagnosis may shape his and/or the American government’s approach to the pandemic. That would impact many people’s lives. If one were to predict that to be a positive impact, then why would they not admit to being happy?

  6. Andy Pipkin

What a terrible way too act/say considering the condition that poor Kate’s husband is in!!!!

  7. John F

It was a particularly nasty thing to say. It’s exactly this type of attitude from leftists and progressives that will see Trump get a 2nd term. Undecided voters make up a significant part of the electorate and this sort of callousness will push them over to Trumps side in a kind of sympathy vote.

    1. Commenter #1

You’re absolutely right. An appearance by the guy from The Wire on a British light news programme is going to swing the election to Trump.

    2. george

Trump’s selfishness, recklessness and callousness resulting in Covid-19 ripping through America. 200,000 dead and rising.

No sympathy whatsoever but sure its only a flu and the vast majority of people are unaffected.

      1. Commenter #1

Exactly right. It’s only people within certain age demographics and with some particular comorbidities that have to worry.

    3. Nigel

Push them to the side of the guy who mocked Hilary Clinton’s pneumonia, mocked a disabled reporter, downplayed the virus, mocked Joe Biden for wearing a mask just a day before his own diagnosis, oversaw the deaths of 200,000 US citizens from the virus, locks children in cages and seperates families and treats people with inhumane cruelty at the southern US border, denies climate change, gassed a crowd of peaceful protesters for a weird photo-op, gave white supremacsts a rallying call, lies every time he opens his mouth, channels millions in tax payers money to his own properties and businesses, who’s had a small army of his employees, election campaign staff and administration indicted, arrested and imprisoned? THIS will drive them to HIM? Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE you want to stand by this extraordinary statement? And bear in mind that only yesterday, a horde of Qanon and Trump supporters besieged Christine Teigen with the most abominable online abuse when she announced she had had a miscarriage. You’re saying THIS will cause the undecided to rush to join the ranks of those yahoos?

        1. Cú Chulainn

I’m voting Trump because someone was mean to him..? Get up the yard, own your narrow right wing fascist racism.. and, here’s a fact of life for all the moaning minnies: some people are better off buried in the bog and Trump is one is of those people..

          1. Scundered

Maybe you haven’t realised yet that you are the one calling for the death of someone you disagree with. You can’t really sink any lower than that. You’d make a fine nazi.

And if you care to point out what I said that you think is racist, or fascist, or are you just another numpty who doesn’t understand the English language?

          2. Nigel

Demanding civility of one side when the other side has trademarked and copyrighted ‘F@ck Your Feelings’ does have a fascist vibe to it, frankly.

          3. Scundered

That’s quite a desperate display of backtracking and pedantics, however your words are there for all to see. You’ve reached a new low but too blinded by derangement and mob hysteria to be able to think for yourself.

          4. Cú Chulainn

Not at all.. I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say that the world is a better place with the likes of Franco, Hitler and Stalin in the ground.. that’s just how it is with these things..

          5. Scundered

False equivalency, those people deliberately slaughtered millions.

For example imagine people jumping for joy if they heard Obama contracting a potentially fatal disease, and the reason being that he was involved in war in middle East.

It is sinking below humane values, and the reason being that so many others join in, that you don’t realise you’ve sunk that far. That’s how mobs do some awful things. You could even explain that’s how Nazi soldiers ended up killing innocent people without any guilt, driven by the mob, whereas by themselves they would never have considered such a thing, it’s the same psychology at work.

  8. Nullzero

A pathetic reaction from a wealthy virtue signalling supposedly left wing celebrity who has done quite nicely for himself in this unequal capitalist system, thank you very much.

Trump is a moron, he isn’t Hitler, not even close, much to the chagrin of the right on thespian types.

If and when he leaves office, there’s going to be a lot of empty space to be filled on internet comment sections.

  9. frank

Not a very Christian thing to wish harm or death on a fellow Christian or indeed anyone.
Imagine wishing ill on someone!! That is frankly revolting

    1. george

Trumps’ favourite bible-verse is “an eye for an eye” so its pretty consistent with that.
Dominic West has said he isn’t really a Catholic just comes from a Catholic background.

  10. V AKA Frilly Keane

All this looks like is people developing an addiction to outrage

He wished a dose on a lad
A bloody TV actor – not a Supreme Court Judge or a Transplant Surgeon

    So what
manys a pox of locusts invading an arm pit gets promised

If people are looking for an outrage fix
T’would be great if they all kept it to day time telly
    Like Jerry Springer did

    1. Nigel

If people are looking for outrage, they could take a look at ICE detention centres. Even a cursory examination will cause the mildest soul to wish ill on the perpetartors.

      1. V AKA Frilly Keane

        The they do this
So we get to do that

Western Democracy is leaning on principles that as upstanding and robust as a bunch of gladioli in a bucket

Is it any wonder we end up with who we end up with

  11. Eoin

Is he going to jump for joy when Biden gets elected president and the US starts another few wars, resulting in millions displaced or dead?

  12. ReproBertie

Trump’s snowflake army out in force on this one. A schadenfreude-fuelled jump for joy when hearing the news is not the same as wishing an illness on someone, no matter what bloke going to the shops wants you to think.

    1. Commenter #1

And to think; might all have been avoided if the President had worn his mask a little more often.

    2. Scundered

Either one of the two scenarios is equally despicable, so your comment has no validity, I’d assume you just felt guilty as you had the same thought and don’t like it when others point out that’s fairly inhumane by all standards.

  13. Nigel

By the way, I myself did not and will not jump for joy over this, I wouldn’t even admit to a bit of schadenfreud – it’s another chaotic variable introduced into a situation that needs more chaotic variables like we need holes in our heads. Like almost everything else to do with this administration and election – I fekkin HATE it.

  14. Steph Pinker

What was the relevance of the question to the topic and subsequent interview? It seems very unprofessional.

    1. Daisy Chainsaw

Boris was in ICU and left a couple of days later fully recovered… almost like he’d never even had Covid.

    2. Lilly

I just saw that live. Well enough to board the helicopter on his own steam. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
