The Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has lost his high-stakes libel action in the London courts against the Sun after the newspaper described him as a “wife beater”.
The court refused to award the Pirates of the Caribbean star compensation for damage to his reputation at the end of one of the most widely followed libel trials of the century.

He may have lost in court (which is astounding given that they printed something with no actual proof and it was up to him to prove it didn’t happen) but I think his reputation has been cleared with the public.

By contrast The Sun has a different sort of record; remember how they blamed the dead victims for Hillsborough? Or indeed the dead victims of British state forces on Bloody Sunday.
Irish people should have enough experience by now to know there’s no such thing as British justice.
