Via The Belfast Telegraph:

A medical diagnostics company in Northern Ireland has branded claims made after an undercover investigation by Channel 4 into its Covid-19 testing facility as “inaccurate”.

Channel 4’s Dispatches programme last night broadcast the experience of an undercover reporter who worked at Randox as part of its examination into the Government’s handling of the test and trace system.

It alleged there were “serious failings” at Randox’s Co Antrim Covid-19 testing lab, with potential problems with how samples, sent from across the UK were handled.

Dispatches claimed used tests sent to Randox for analysis were sometimes not unpacked properly and accidentally discarded, with the reporter alleging swab samples were mistakenly being thrown into the waste with cardboard packaging.

Good times.

South Korea have a test that is 99% accurate, non invasive and gives feedback in 15 mins. Tells you a) if you have covid, b) if you had covid, c) if you have antibodies. Costs seriously less that €99.

…fthey FREE on every street corner or just about in NY-why are they allowed charge this ?

they got 500 mil from the dumb brits – was going be 49 a test now it doubled ?

“In May, the Guardian revealed that Randox was awarded a first government contract on 30 March, worth £133m. It was awarded in a closed process, without being publicly advertised beforehand and without any other companies being asked to bid. The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) revealed on Wednesday that the contract was for 2.7m kits – meaning the cost per kit was just over £49.”

Why though? Sure I thought our testing was up to speed – why are private companies being given the go-ahead to do this for a fee? And why at the Airport – if tests are 24-48 hour? Within that time-frame you could have caught it after having the test. Money wasted.

      1. Some airlines/countries require a negative test prior to the flight/arrival. If you choose to fly then you should bear the cost of a covid-test.
      2. true, but it would reduce the risk of asymptotic contagious passengers. yes, you might be infected by the time you fly. AFAIK there is a lag between getting infected and being contagious. I suppose they don’t want contagious people on the planes. Better than nothing.

and I see that some places have increased their Covid test price from 90Euro to 180 Euro. This “pandemic” is a Christmas Bonanza for some. I’ll include the GPs in that . Big money. Flu jab done at the GP , round them up but if you have anything else , then call your GP cause you could get the big C if you visit the GP surgery.
