Tara Lee – Christmas Time In Dublin City

A sort of homecoming.

Dublin-born actress and singer/songwriter Tara Lee (top) wows with her emotional ode to returning emigrants who make the journey home at Yuletide.

A star of telly’s Eastenders and The Fall, Tara comes from a musical family and wrote this seasonal power ballad on a midnight flight from London.

Tara says:

“It’s a dream of home, and of all of the faces that I haven’t been able to see this year. It’s a love letter to Dublin, to Ireland, and it’s for everyone who’s a little homesick at the moment, wherever home is to them.”

Nick says: Tara Loora.

I did enjoy that, although it is a little downbeat. But sometimes that is what you need. Too many happy preppy tunes at this time of year drive me a little nuts. Maybe a bit nostalgic for Dublin, but I guess Kildare does not exactly roll off the tongue in rhyme :-)

Without trying to rain on Tara’s parade, I still think one of my favourite ones that the ‘Sheet posted over the years was Meghan Ali, Coming Home. I think it was part of a project, and she had the incredible Clare Sands on with her. I have lost the link over the years. Different computers, failed drives, lost links.

I will be saving this one too. Hopefully this will last longer.

Ooh, thanks Bodger! Do not worry too much about the private. It is in my memory, and I can understand. But if you are in touch, please tell her that I truly enjoyed it!
