This morning.

“(I was) strongly critical of the whole approach down through the years, down through the decades in international trade, particularly around the dispute resolution where the environmental community among others like social justice organisations said that the power of the corporations within that was too strong, so that was our primary concern regarding CETA and other trade deals that were being done.

“But, there are three developments in the last three years that give me reassurance, some of those concerns are starting to be addressed in a way that is progressive.”

Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan on RTÉ Radio One’s Morning Ireland.

Eamon Ryan says he will urge Green TDs to change their mind on CETA (Independent.ie)

leo keeps eamon’s balls in a jar in the office. for being such a good boy he might be allowed to hold them for a few minutes later on, bless.

Eamon Ryan is a total write off now. It’s a genuine shame that the Green Party will not now even get a look in at GE’s for years to come. What’s Catherine Martin’s stance on CETA, on selling out the party for a few cycle paths and on sleeping in the Dail. If she is not for these things then they should have elected her as party leader in July.

    1. Dr.Fart

well they were in a coalition before, and they did the same craic then. people warned of that this GE, and here we are, watching history repeat itself. and we will do exactly that again in the future. sure how many times and how badly have FF and/or FG made all kinds of promises and then got up to the same skullduggery once in power? they know this now. that’s why they do whatever they want willy nilly, safe in the knowledge the dumbass electorate will forget and give em the thumbs up again.

There are 12 Greet TDs out of 84 government TDs.

They constitute 14% of the government…but they seem to be blamed for 90% of it’s ills!

        1. bisted

…you’ll be advocating a voting pact with your government partners next time out Cian…it’s the only way the Ryan greens will be able to retain any seats…they’ve demonstrated that 3/4 of the membership approve of their being in government regardless and a substantial number one vote will vote for them regardless…they just need help over the line and they betrayed those who helped them last time believing they were part of the movement for change…

      2. Liam Deliverance

All fair points Doctor, but it may be like last time in that it will take 3 GE’s before they are potential runners again, it was 9 years last time. We do not have much choice as it is and if you exclude the GP then that leaves the sheep turning back to FF and FG. The GP are a party with some good people and good ideas but they will stay as just ideas if you are only 5 seats and are in opposition. As for FF and FG, well we know what to expect from them.

        1. Dr.Fart

yea.. i hear ya, Liam. Very true. I wonder if we’ll see a Gov. in our lifetime we can be somewhat even moderately proud of?

    2. ( ̄_, ̄ ) AKA Frilly Keane

I’d say the plan for them to survive another GE is to tip Eamon out onto the compost heap
and canonise Catherine and have her lead them into a new Campaign with a new GP Brand

they’ve already proven they’ll vote with whatever the Government whip tells them
that makes them perfect stabilisers for whoever makes up the pieces of the next Government

as an aside, I think Catherine Martin would have made a great Minister for Ed

      1. Dr.Fart

i think she would’ve too. They have some job on their hands to get back a lot of their voters. However, lots of their voters are wealthy, and just like to say they vote green, but in actuality won’t mind if they act in favour of big business. As is the interest of those voters.

        1. ( ̄_, ̄ ) AKA Frilly Keane

I never saw it that way – the comfortable circumstances of their more mature voter
          but you have a point

something also to bare in mind when predicting the Greens future election prospects
is that they appeal to younger voters
many of them couldn’t give a rat’s behind about anything historical with FF / FG
Same about Eamon carving out room for his pals snouts

The young wans all think that that’ll on end when they get involved
that they are the force of change

Ha! bless their little dotie socks

          1. bisted

…about 7years ago I did some work on a survey that included Eamon Ryan’s constituency of Dublin Bay South…if the consistent results were right then it showed that Ryan would top the poll and be one of the safest seats in the Dail…I was sceptical for this reason but it turned out it was the case then and is probably still the case…the survey turned out to be one of the finest of its type I’d ever seen…

          2. V AKA Frilly Keane

            Tis
Topped the poll comfortably in DBS

This is the same Constituency that also returned Eoghan Murphy btw
A fortnight after a poor divil was scooped up tent n’all
Right in the heart of the Constituency

So they’ve form for sticking by their goys

  2. eamonn

At this rate it will be Eamonn’s yellow party.
    Zero courage Zero Convictions
    Shame on Eamonn –
Or… is he saying what he is obliged to say in public ?

  3. Joe

The last time Eamo’ was in government he was totally exposed as a hypocrite.
This time Eamo’s is in government and even his own new fellow Greenwash cult members can see he is a total hypocrite.
If the Greenwash cultists don’t chuck him out over his stance on CETA they will implode.

He suits Leo the Liar to a tee, I am sure he could employee Eamo’ as his personal toilet paper holder, though to be honest I am sure Eamo’ would dispense with the paper and use his tongue instead.

  4. Stephen

Oh Eamon. I get that when you go into government compromises have to be made. And that by making some compromises you can achieve more in other areas.
But really, this is fundamentally against your parties stance, how can you possibly support it.
    Shame on you.

  5. :-Joe

Ahh, I’m genuinely disappointed by this…

Nevermind the feeling of sheer stupidity in defending this eejit because I thought he had some common sense, moral fibre and was motivated to bring about positive progressive change through well thought out policies for the future, not least around the climate crisis and enviromental issues…

Beyond the flip-flop, hypocrasy and sell out…
A simple internet search( with duckduckgo that respects truth and your privacy) like this shows how obvious it is…

    https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=ceta+ttip+truth&atb=v109-1&ia=web

    Even the very first link..
” European citizens have to be told the truth about how TTIP and CETA would affect food production and farming. Hanny van Geel: “Europeans do not want to depend on industrialized food coming from factories instead of family farms. Therefore, we have to stop negotiating agriculture in so called free trade agreements and work together to realize food sovereignty!”

The green party are the new lib-dems the next version of neo-labour-nua . in anglo-irish western english speaking politics… The spare wheel and patsy for the greed and corruption of the economically far-right and socially authoritarian. It’s this kind of insanity that creates apathetic, angry and resentful voters, the likes that turn to drumpf when all else fails.. It’s ok because finacial markets love chaos.

As if F-f/g and the eurozone banking overlords needed more help in slicing and dicing the public wealth and resources up unfairly in favour of autonomous, global, corporate, tax abusing, financially mercantile and anonymous, obscenely wealthy shareholder interests.. before and at the expense of the environment and the good of the majority of people.

The going gets bareley even tough and you’re already sticking your head in the compost bin at the first real challenge as per usual..

The sad truth is, it will be disparate grass root movements like Extinction Rebellion that will do more for climate crisis in the end.. Not these morally weak, political invertibrates..

Well done, eejits… It’s back where you belong at the next election.. f-ing useless.

” family farms “. ” Peasants “. So lets feed a metropolis like London – pop 12 million – from family farms. This tripe is why the hard Left and Greens shouldn’t be allowed out.

  6. millie bobby brownie

He’s a joke politian. I will never vote for the greens again after the absolute farce they’ve made of things.

They were given a second chance and they’ve pissed it away with poor leadership and weak party management. The Green Party can take consolation in the fact that their party is a byword for incompetence.

    1. Dr.Fart

i feel bad for the genuine greens. Of which have mostly left the party now. How utterly pointless they must’ve felt when it was shown what happens to them if they don’t vote with FF/FG. But, good members won’t matter, the party will be bleeding voters now regardless. And no green could feel confidant knocking on peoples doors for another decade or so.
