The Contact Calculator (top) HSE CEO Paul Reid (above) and top with Anne O’Connor, Chief Operations Officer, HSE

This afternoon.

The weekly HSE covid briefing, Dr Steeven’s Hospital, Dublin.

Via RTÉ:

HSE CEO PAUL Reid told the briefing that the HSE has launched a “Contact Calculator“, available on HSE.ie, which he said will help people to think about the number of people they meet. He warned that people “will meet more people than they think” they will over Christmas.

Good grief.

Meanwhile…

The HSE’s Chief Operating Officer, Anne O’Connor has said attendances in Emergency Departments are increasing but are 15% below the number this time last year.

She said admissions to ED are increasing too, but are lower than this time last year.

Hmm.

HSE urges people to keep Christmas visits to ‘absolute minimum’ (RTÉ)

Even the bloody masked virtue signally- could they not sit a safe distance apart? People really are going to be looking at medics in a different light by the time this is all over.

      IF it is ever over.

Must you always get swept along with every wave of propaganda attacking Sweden that comes along?

“The king of Sweden has said the country’s anti-lockdown coronavirus strategy has failed”

What that Guardian article – and so many like it – is doing is deliberately making it appear that the Swedish king criticised Sweden’s decision not to go into lockdown. The reality is something different:. He was talking about the failure to protect the elderly in care homes. The article is also trying to instill in the mind of the reader that his statement is a vindication of the (failed) lockdown strategies imposed elsewhere – as if the only alternative to Sweden’s policy failures was lockdown

“Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf said Thursday he believes his country has failed to protect the elderly in care homes from the effects of the pandemic.

..His comments followed the conclusions presented Tuesday by an independent commission that looked into Sweden’s handling of the pandemic. It said that elderly care in Sweden has major structural shortcomings”

In fairness to Sweden – a lot of countries failed to protect their elderly. Us included.

When you look at the figures broken down by age here it’s shocking.

The HSE dropped the ball big time.

          Here’s a word – pseudowissenschaftlich

There are other words I could use in relation to a website that has no contact info and is lying about being Swiss, but the BS sweary filter would get all kittens on me.

    Is his mask upside down?
I thought that calculator might be applying risk ratings to the categories and calculating a risk score but nope it just adding up numbers. Not particularly helpful.

      Wow. He seems to believe that the first wave of vaccinations will have impact on hospitalisations to reduce them by the end of January. Which is 44 days away;

      We’ll see.

I know. He is deluded. Even with masks etc they still cannot control the border, healthcare settings, hospital acquired infections or cases in over 85’s.
