I feel sorry for the tans all the same. Who on earth would want to live in that absolute clusterfupp of a country?

What I can’t understand is how Boris Johnson rose to become, ahem, ‘Leader’ or how he even became mayor of london. He had nothing to offer. except fairy tale politics.

After the break-up of the Union, England might benefit from a federalist system of governance. The current one is an omnishambles. We feel sorry for their ordinary workers – especially those lined up on the M20 right now.

I am in Oz. I didn’t think we needed the extra ‘state’ tier of government. This pandemic proves exactly why it is a good model. The state premiers have acted quickly, most of the time. The PM is a clown like Bozo and Trump. We would have been doomed if he had his way. So, I can see a similar system being good for England after the other colonies have got their independence.

    1. Joe F

Charage Salmons keeping very quiet on this topic lately! He’s obviously afraid to bring up Bozo in any way because he knows he will get blasted on his U-turn, etc.

Did Pornhub benefit from any government grants, or tax advantages by having brass plates at Grant Thornton’s address in Ireland? The group made €19m profit in 2017. There was one director in Ireland who resigned in Feb. 2017 roughly. No actual jobs. From then onwards, there were no directors in Ireland, just an address at Grant Thornton.

    1. bisted

…didn’t Pornhub gain some largesse from Broadsheet…I certainly remember opening a link to its site…only myself to blame for the link was clearly marked Pornhub…

  3. GiggidyGoo

So the Indo tells us that it has procured a HSE ‘Confidential internal document’ which was prepared by Colm Henry. Was Leo The Leak was busy again?

  4. SOQ

Carl Heneghan from The centre of evidence based medicine at Oxford University tweets “Can anyone point me to the evidence that this new variant is “70% more transmissible than the old variant?”

No answers obviously but one interesting fact did emerge. The group NERVTAG which was mentioned in briefing yesterday includes one Neil Ferguson- yes, he of the 500,000 deaths warning then caught breaking his own rules.

Turns out they have already pulled this mutant stunt twice already in Belgium. This ninja has been around from at least September and is one of over 20 000 variants apparently.

          1. V AKA Frilly Keane

            But the question really is

What’ll ye do with all that spare time on yere hands when battling all the Covid 19 born again online experts is done?

More importantly, what will the Broadsheet comment sections look like then?

Maybe there’ll be enough Trump action to fill the void ….
Maybe there’ll be a whole new roster of contributors and re-decorated refreshed commenters

            Who knows

          2. Brother Barnabas

that’s of some comfort, I suppose

but I’m not sure there’s the same scope for strategic lying and dissemination of misinformation, manipulation and selective presentation of data, stripping context etc. with an underlying alt-right agenda

            here’s hoping, though

where would we be without ematty and soq and flawless and micko, and the joy and giggles they bring daily?

          3. SOQ

Well I can only speak for myself but I genuinely believe that “CoVid” as we call it will not be gone for a very long time.

This is the most serious event of our lifetimes and not because of a virus which hasn’t even altered the average lifespan age because most fatalities were above that.

When scientists- real scientists- like Carl Henaghan and Sunetra Gupta- are dissed even on sites like this, because people are too lazy or stupid or more interested in petty juvenile one-upmanship than to question why given the proven unreliability of the PCR test, such restrictions are needed- I sometimes think they deserve it.

          4. Micko

            “ underlying alt-right agenda”

FFS. You’re such a dope Brother

Everyone who disagrees with you – you label as alt-right.

            It’s sad and embarrassing.

          5. bisted

…sorry to be the one to break it to you Micko…you’re not even the fourth horseman of the apocalypse…in fact…you’re not even top ten…sorry…

          6. SOQ

@ Mcko- that BB is a character who claims to have had CoVid-19 but is still mighty keen to take the vaccine despite being immune should be a fair indication of what you are dealing with.

There is no new mutant- its been around for months and has been found in all parts of Britain. That so many countries have banned travel from Britain today until at least the new Year is a pretty good indication that there is something else gong on.

            What, is anyone’s guess.

          7. Brother Barnabas

because antibodies last for 6 months, soq

isnt there a idiot-level youtube video to educate on this ?

I see Sinn Fein are up in the polls again. Now at 32%, and FF have gone up too. Although im not a particular fan of either- its great to see the citizens push back on the Unionist onslaught of recent weeks. What will it take for the self loathing Irish to realise that the more they deny the Republicanism in the soul of Ireland with their hysterical anti-Irish bleating, the more people will turn to SF.

  6. GiggidyGoo

According the B&A poll, FG are no longer in the lead. Now I don’t believe polls or their methodology…..but….I’m surprised though that the Broadsheet FG Apologist-in-Chief isn’t all over it, telling us how accurate the poll is (particular moment in time, accurate cross-section of society, and all that)

    The poll suggests

    SF 32% (up 2%)
    FG 27% (Down 4%)
    FF 22% (up 3%)
    Greens now standing at 3%

Looks like Bill Gates has successfully infiltrated the Swedish government…

Acxording to the BBC “Sweden has recommended wearing face masks on public transport during the rush hour, reversing its earlier guidance.”

    1. V AKA Frilly Keane

      Well
Isn’t it exactly as Anders Tagnell said himself

And endorsed by the Emperor no less

Which I agree with – as a valuable practice direction type thing

Particularly around here – when dust settles on the various skirmishes
      And whatnots and what-have-yas

      Judge me at the end

      1. SOQ

Completely missing the point- nobody is arguing that governments should sit back and do nothing when infection rates rise but that their response is propionate to the threat.

WHO are very clear on this- lockdowns are to be used only as a last resort and Sweden is only introducing masks on public transport at peak times- when people are standing very close together.

Other minor things like limits on numbers sitting at tables and in gyms but it’s hardly going to cause the absolute chaos seen at London train stations yesterday- where people were bailing out of the city.

          1. V AKA Frilly Keane

            No worries

I’m actually looking forward for your next mood swing / personality phase

            FWIW
Your Nordie Trinny and Suzanna was my favourite
Seriously though, reconsider a swing through that channel again
Those catty fashion observations from the front pages, were always funny
And you weren’t too off the wall on the local advice & tips – specially on the accessories

            Anyway
            Think about it

        1. Rob_G

Et tu, SOQ – I thought masks were “face nappies”, that were going to be giving their wearers panic attacks – now you are advocating their use on public transport?

  8. GiggidyGoo

Interesting that the B&A poll doesn’t appear on any of the front pages. Now, I don’t believe polls or their methodology, but the FG bots are usually out in force when these polls are released. You know, the ones who tell us that it’s an accurate reflection of the views of an accurate representative cross-section of society. Not this time however. I wonder why?

    1. V AKA Frilly Keane

      Shur’ what’s to see

      Seriously?

FG & SF are neck and neck
Leo and Mary Lou are neck and neck

We knew this certainty by July
Ok, maybe some of ye took a while to cop on that our two party system was now going to look like this
      But it’s not news

The Blueshirts played a magnificent strategic game here in fairness
And Bodger can import updates from the US XXL Drain The Swamp Version of Political 3D Chess, and stream in colour commentry providing the play by play from Q & The Plan, all he likes

But the most successful game was played out here
      Under our own noses

And whether yis want to accept that or not is neither here nor there tbh
The facts are very much here and there
Roping Fianna Fail into a confidence & supply entente, was the first move of Fine Gael’s Political Chess Gambit

Check Mate came when Micheál Martin said he wouldn’t support a Unity Poll (a year ago today I think) – within two months they were all back on ballot sheets

DNA influenced FF voters had nowhere to go only to SF
Likewise with any opposition Voters to the then Confidence & Supply Government
Look at where all the SF transfers landed ffs

What’s left of Fianna Fail in Professional Politics – Nationally, will travel over to the Shinners or FG as running mates
The rest will see out their days locally and squeeze a few Jobs for good Boys out’ve FG

      1. Brother Barnabas

and those FF voters who turned to SF havent seen anything since this government took office to cause any regret – if anything, FF ineptitude has convinced that they’re done with FF

not many will return to FF

        1. V AKA Frilly Keane

          My point exactly

          Fianna Fail are finished
But watching them even more closely now on their last spin on the Merry Go Round n’ fill your pockets term should be mandatory

Don’t take yere eyes off ’em of a second lads
F’ knows where those dying wasps will park their stinging bits

          1. Brother Barnabas

            hopefully

although will likely make FG stronger- but perhaps not strong enough that they can ever do anything with it

          2. V AKA Frilly Keane

But at least there is some chance of an opposition side

And a choice for voters to register their dissatisfaction

            Whatever side sits
On whatever side of the house
At any given time or Government term
No matter what combos colours or coalitions are of that given day

          3. Brother Barnabas

yes certainly – just hope it doesn’t usher in 20 years of uninterrupted FG majority government

            society couldn’t withstand that

          4. Charger Salmons

There’s only so many boggers who want to go into politics to grease their palms because they’re too lazy and stupid to do anything else.
And it’s not like it needs any great skill.
Just an ability to ask ” how high ” when Frau Merkel tells them to jump.

    1. Brother Barnabas

more that a newspaper of the working class has genuine compassion for the people of modern Britain – and despair at the sight of them walking blind into self destruction -while an Eton-educated toff feels no more affinity with them or compassion for them than he does for the working class of anywhere else

      1. Brother Barnabas

which side are you on, charger?

aspirations to be a toff, certainly, but that’s not where you’re from – much closer to the working man, arent you? a veritable uncle tom, I’d say

        1. Papi

Neither fish nor fowl, is our poor charger. The Irish wouldn’t have him, the English are ashamed of him, he’s resorted to pretending his tenant is his friend. Aw.
“No, he weally is my fwend Janet”
No truer meaning of the phrase, ” he takes great delight in his own company”

          Poor, ikkle charger.

    1. millie bobby brownie

I believe she bid broadsheet adieu not so long ago. Whether or not she does come back is one thing, I always enjoyed the stories she had, and was sorry to see her go.

  9. goldenbrown

“Many of the MPs and several rightwing historians and newspaper columnists took exception to the report’s references to Winston Churchill’s role in colonial administration and his opposition to Indian independence. The historian Andrew Roberts accused the trust of “wokery” and of “trying to imply a moral equivalence between colonialism and slavery”

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/dec/20/ive-been-unfairly-targeted-says-academic-at-heart-of-national-trust-woke-row

    LOL

    1. Joe F

I know I should stop repeating myself but when I read what you write, clown man, it never fails to bring a smile to my face! For someone who has, on multiple occasions, told people off for incorrect spelling and grammar, are you capable of actually writing 2 or 3 sentences without basic grammar errors? Why do you keep putting a space before the question mark at the end of a sentence? Basic literacy old boy! Anyway, onto more important matters, Bozo is ahead in the polls, don’t mind the 35k+ cases in the UK today. If Bozo does another U-turn then he’ll be grand. Marvelous indeed old boy.

  10. BS

Gemma O’SOQerty really is a dope. ffs…just goes to show what can happen to people when normality changes and they have to find answers for things they dont understand. they disappear up they own bottoms with a load of conspiracies.
