    Charger’s Vax Facts™ #46

The UK had another record-breaking weekend of vaccinations, delivering just under one million doses bringing the overall total tantalisingly close to the ten million mark with 9,790,576.

To put that into context it’s the equivalent of 20% of the entire Irish population receiving a jab in just two days.

Ireland has so far administered 199,800 doses.

Meanwhile, further evidence has emerged of the chaotic EU response to the vaccine roll-out.

According to the Irish Times ‘ The European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) has credited Ireland with administering twice as many Covid-19 vaccines as it actually has. ‘

The ECDC’s vaccine tracker credits the HSE with administering 438,006 vaccines to 10% of the population.

Wildly inaccurate but not untypical of the EU’s current incompetence.

      1. Charger Salmons

It’s an interesting debate as to whether more people with a single dose vaccine is better than fewer with two.
The scientists in the UK seem fairly certain but it’s also a useful smokescreen by countries such as Germany who some think are casting doubt on the UK’s methods to draw attention away from their own deficiencies.
I guess we’ll know fairly soon – the infection rate is dropping quite dramatically in Blighty.
Napoleon Macron has certainly been widely discredited for his suggestion that the AZ jab is less effective in the 60+ cohort.

        1. Joe F

I hope when you lay down your head last night old boy, next to the imaginary Mrs Charger, that you took a while to think about that post of yours that joked about the fate of those Vietnamese people. 39 unfortunates had the most horrible death imaginable. You joked about that situation in a post. You said you didn’t go near Broadsheet Sunday (a blatant lie as you posted under your Kate alias) and that night counted 60 comments related to you. So counting comments about you is clearly a much higher priority to you than the lives of people. What a disgusting individual you are. Well done old sport.

        2. V aka Frilly Keane

I think there’s a more interesting debate in the UKs track and trace set ups

          45 Billion folks
Most of it into the privatised handlers
          So far

Wake me up when you’re ready to roll those stats out Charage

    1. Praetorian

      BBC1,Panorama…100,000 Deaths.
Maybe you’ve watched it…or maybe not.
      Watch it if you haven’t.
you’re a horrible silly…you’re ignorance and British arrogance is palpable.
      silly individual.

      1. bisted

…if Boris’ gamble pays off and the vaccination rollout in UK succeeds in curbing the spread of Covid-19, he will be hailed as a hero, he will have defeated a pandemic single-handedly just as his hero Winston Churchill won WW2…the number of people who died will be forgotten…

        1. Charger Salmons

They won’t be forgotten. They’ll be the subject of an intense and thorough public inquiry to discover why the rate was so high and Boris’ decisions will come under close scrutiny.
But the idea that all the blame can be attached to him is ludicrous.
A third of all deaths in Ireland happened in January, a quarter of all UK deaths likewise mainly due to the new aggressive variant.
Both countries were in total lockdown.
Sadly I expect the high death rate in both countries to continue for some time yet.

          1. Charger Salmons

By the way the one major opinion poll so far has found the public do not blame the government for the death rate by quite a considerable margin.
            They blame the public.

          2. Joe F

Good morning Kate. I was very disappointed that you only posted one of your wonderful “facts” on cue last night just as Tuesdays papers were listed. Any reason why you only managed the one last night?
Anyhow, you said above the UK case rate for infections is down significantly. Don’t know if you noticed but the same has happened here. Down from, at one point around 8,000 a day, to just above 1,000. Taking the new cases for both countries for yesterday, and taking into account populations, they are practically similar (UK rate a fraction higher actually)
And what about death rates? UK 5th highest in world. Great job Bozo.
            Marvelous.

          3. bisted

…of course they won’t be forgotten, a better word would have been ignored…in England, no doubt there will be remembrance parades and ceremonies…outside close family, the dead will only be commemorated once a year…Boris, however, will be the conquering hero and the jingoism we hear already will grow rather than diminish…
The current lockdown in UK and Ireland is down to one reason only…decision makers decided to sacrifice medical advice for political expediency…

          4. Charger Salmons

Dr Tony Holohan is urging Ireland to forget about summer holidays abroad.
Boris hasn’t ruled out sun holidays in the Med for Brits.
And places like Greece and Majorca are clearly preparing for what they expect to be a summer season.
How can Ireland stop people travelling abroad via the UK and other countries unless they intend to seal off the country right through the summer ?

          5. bisted

…you must have missed the pictures from Dublin Airport last week of people returning from Lanzorote…if there is a way to travel to Spain or Greece, selfish people will find it…Michael O’Leary’s savage attack NPHET was despicable as it is merely an advisory group…his motivation is Ryanair share price…

          6. Charger Salmons

Of course his motivation is share price – he has an obligation to his share-holders.
I just don’t see how Ireland can lock down its borders throughout the summer – it would kill the Irish tourist season.
I think Holohan is being uneccesarily pessimistic unless he knows something we don’t.
And this push for staycations ? How different is a crowded pub in Dingle than it is in Faliraki ?
O’Leary has a point. You have to give people a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.

  2. Joe F

So, after today’s figures were released, the UK remains the 5th highest out of 221 countries for deaths per million population from the virus. You happy with that “fact” Kate?
And, it has been reported in a few places that the present figure for deaths in the UK (106,564) could be understated by up to 40,000. If that was the case, the UK would be highest. So that would be good news to you? UK in first place is very important to you Admiral seemingly.
    Marvelous.

    1. jason

Mate, your sounding very like the charger your supposed to be so vehemently opposed to. Give it a rest….getting very old now.

      1. Joe F

Apologies if it’s annoying you. If he stops posting these stupid comments I won’t reply! Simple as.

        1. Rob_G

It is quite annoying; if he stopes getting a rise out of people, he will stop doing it.

Also, while I am usually as big a fan as anyone of pointing out when the Brits make a tit of things, your daily gloating over their high death rate during a horrible pandemic is a bit unseemly.

          1. Junkface

Yep. I’m sure many of us have family in the UK we are worried about. Don’t gloat over death rates. I don’t see why some people must reply to him as often as possible. Just ignore the trolling, life is too short.

          2. Charger Salmons

In that case you must be delighted the UK’s vaccination programme is going so well and welcome my daily update of figures.
Many Irish people over there are part of the record numbers.

          3. Joe F

My apologies if you feel that way. I have pointed out, in more than one post, that I do not wish to “gloat” over such a serious issues as deaths, or even cases. My whole point, is to stop this clown from posting stupid, repetitive and in some cases vile and disgusting comments. People say ignore him, and I agree with that, however that doesn’t stop him, so I decide when he posts something that’s OK (which he does quite often) I will not reply. But when he posts his nonsense I will. I feel obliged to call him out for his despicable joke he made recently (under his Kate alias by the way) about the Vietnamese who lost their lives in that lorry. To joke about that to make a point is the lowest of the low.
So, as I say, I do not want to “gloat” or compare figures over deaths/cases but I make an exception for this nasty individual. If I offend anyone, I apologize.

          4. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

you’ve made your point, now your apologies are meaningless of you continue to clog up the comments with just as much crap as he does, you are exactly what you profess to hate and are contributing to a lack of enjoyment of the site just as much if not more than he does, do us all a favor and pack it in , unless you are Charger.

      1. GiggidyGoo

Bodger can’t confirm that. All that can be confirmed are the IP addresses are different. That confirmation can be easily overcome by using, as Charger (yourself) and your many aliases use, a VPN.

        Three log-ins already I see.

      2. Joe F

Of course you are Kate me old sport. You expect me to believe you aren’t Admiral Nelson as well. Who do you want to confirm that alias?
        Marvelous.
Oh yeah, nearly forget to mention, where are your other “facts” tonight. Too busy doing something else Kate??

      3. Joe F

You absolute clown. Will you just read those few words you amadán. Now you don’t know whether your next posting should be under Charger Salmons or Kate. Well done, even by your standards! I’ll give you the IBAN for ‘Detectives for Dummies’

  3. Charger Salmons

Pal of mine got his jab on Saturday. He’d been telephoned by his GP service and then received a letter three days earlier.
His vaccination centre was being organised by a cheery bunch of Royal Engineers.
He says the place was overrun with boxes of chocolates and tins of sweets being brought in by grateful recipients some of whom were leaving in tears.
He was quite moved and he’s a tough old nugget.

  4. V aka Frilly Keane

Is Broadsheet turning into a couples resort or what

It seems like there’s duets double acts
    Partnerships whatever everywhere lately

    I dunno. Being a goos’ah doesn’t suit me

    So
    Yeah
‘suppose this might be it, coming to it anyway

      1. jungleman

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

So Charger has a one-on-one with himself every night. Again, that sounds about right…

        1. Joe F

jungleman, as I said last night, will you look at my replies to Charger/Admiral Salmons/Kate! If you think he/her/them/it and me are the same person……
Yeah, he/she/they/it replies to itself e.g. last night, under the alias of Kate, she posted “Charger is not Kate as confirmed by Bodger.”

  5. Joe F

I’ll copy and paste my reply that I put for jungleman for you also!!

Whatever! Will you just check back through the pages and read my comments to him!

Ask some of the others on here if you think we are the same person. I know some people have decided to ignore our head to head but others might respond!

  6. Birdie

Oh what a great list idea! 25 comfort films from the Guardian. I hope Parenthood makes it on it, that little kid is gas.

    1. Tarfton Clax

Yup. It’s almost unreadable at this stage. A shame but it is no longer viable to have to scroll past 70% plus of the replies on the papers and other news related topics. Music and space posts seem to be pretty free of the incestuous circle of irritation so far .

  7. GiggidyGoo

I see the planters(thanks Mick)/flat earthers (3….2….1….) have ramped up their threats to include people working at ports now. Paisley will be happy emulating his daddy (while planning his next paid-for holiday no doubt).
Kudos to the EU. It’s just lit the fuse. Cheered on by Mairead (je ne sais rien) McGuinness. The Northern Ireland situation doesn’t bother them. And Michilín, Coveney do their tut-tuttings. Varadkar missing in action of course.

    1. bisted

…I have been a long term supporter of brexit and it’s inevitable acceleration of the final British withdrawal from the North…no Unionist politician ever went hungry by demonising the Irish at every opportunity and expounding the most sectarian message to their supporters…these people dispise everyone who does not vote to maintain their power but their days are numbered…there is no appealing to or appeasing them…

      1. Charger Salmons

They might despise anyone who doesn’t support keeping them in power but they certainly didn’t kill their opponents and innocent people in quite the same huge numbers as Sinn Fein/IRA.
Until their opponents build bridges in much the same way as people like Blair and Major once sat down with people who wanted to kill them no progress on a united Ireland will be made.
        Unfortunately.

        1. GiggidyGoo

‘in quite the same numbers’. So that exonerates them then? The Charger mentality exudes compassion.

        2. bisted

…well actually they did, from Bloody Sunday to Pat Finucane, from the Glenane Gang to the Dublin/Monaghan bombings…while their finger may not have been on the trigger, they supported every atrocity…that war is over…time for the ballot box…

        3. Brother Barnabas

of the 3,500 deaths recorded in the troubles, around 2,000 were attributable to republican paramilitaries, around 1,000 to loyalist terrorists and around 500 to british army

          so 2,000: 1,500

so they certainly DID kill their opponents and innocent people in quite the same huge numbers as Sinn Fein/IRA

      2. V aka Frilly Keane

There is no Unionism anymore Bisto

Just a last stand attempt by a bunch of local shouty mout’ies, who gave Unionism a go one day, maybe because there was free cake and sausage roils at the Lodge open day, and got lucky
and got a well paid gig out it, plus be on the Telly a lot
And I include Paisley in that, he’s just going through the motions that were basically ‘learned behaviour’

Its getting too obviouious – even with the Union Jack Tatted up bases, that their elected reps are doing sweet FA for their constituents, where it really matters, in the Constituency

Imagine a room of 30 Dee Wall types – That’s the DUP
As for the others, Well, Trimble at least did the World favour, by creating divisions and splits
when he decided Unionism should be a private club for smarty pants Presbyterian boys

  8. Dr.Fart

Will someone please stop asking Michael O’Leary his opinion on public health FFS!!?!?!? He’s literally trying to rubbish health guidelines to strengthen his business. He is a private business man. He does not care if people die if it means he makes money. Stop giving him air to spread his damaging message. It WILL cost lives and it WILL help spread the virus. STOOOOOOPPPP .. he’s a moron and we don’t need his constant opinion

  9. Dr.Fart

what? so I can’t even say Michael O’Leary is a greedy business man on BS? Does he sponsor you or something?

  10. Johnny

Soul sister,I’ve taken your class in the Hampton’s,it was a teaching moment.

“I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for my recent action in receiving the vaccine,” she wrote. “I made a terrible error in judgement and for that I am truly sorry.”

Griffith, whose NYC spin classes are often attended by celebrities like Kelly Ripa, told The Daily Beast that she was able to receive the vaccine because she is an “educator.”

    https://people.com/sports/soulcycle-instructor-stacey-griffith-apologizes-after-calling-herself-an-educator-to-get-covid-19-vaccine/

  11. Joe F

@jungleman. If you really want to believe that I am Charger/Admiral Nelson/Kate well there’s nothing I can do about it!! All I can say is look at my responses to him from earlier this morning and make your mind up. I do not joke over the lingering and extremely painful deaths of people in a lorry with no air.
Of course I am on the same time as him, and I’ll make a bold prediction!! He’ll be posting his Vax Facts #6543 tonight around 11, and I’ll be in right after him. As I say I can’t make you believe anything, that’s your choice, but I seriously doubt your judgement if you think I am him!!!

  12. V aka Frilly Keane

Combined income earned outside their White House Advisor day jobs for Year Ending 2020
for a Jared Kushner and a Ivanka Trump totalled $ 144,468,594
    $ 120,676,949 & $ 23,791,645 respectively

    Down 25% ish, from a combined total of $ 193,171,299 ($ 157,020,085 & $ 36,151,214) for Year ending 2019

so who says the pandemic didn’t hurt everyone

    Patriots bless ’em

Its not looking pretty shur its not Johnny

I know they’re hoohaaing about Hunter Biden’s pal joining Justice
but that lad was still a deputy US DA – and in all places, NY Southern
Jesus we could do with the likes of him here, in fairness

I’ve an awful feeling ‘Mericka is going to get some awakening alright
and not the one the Patriots and MAGAs were promising

      1. V aka Frilly Keane

        be honest with ya
I don’t see the point in continuing with Impeachment
It is only going to drag matters out and keep people stringing along, and I think thats unfair

They should allow people move on

Its all pretty seedy, between the Senate Dems perusing with this impeachment only because they can and for no other reason
and the financial disclosures out of the previous administration’s Advisors, plus others
Meanwhile Team Trump and co +all the Trump QAnon ‘wans & carpetbaggers are still scrounging money out of people to Stop The Steal or whatever hashtag they can get going

As long as the Dems keep turning this over, Team Trump MAGA Patriot Movement get to continue to panhandle people

The US Senate and Congress have far more important matters to deal with instead of trying to impeach a man who will never be President or elected into office again

While America is hand to mouth, Jared and Ivanka, on top of their White House wages and expenses (that included enhancements to their properties btw) made over 144 million in the year that was Covid 19
        In just one year
        WWG1WGA huh?

        there’s yere #Awakening lads

  13. johnny

good morning V,was just reading it,will post Trump’s kinda hilarious legal dream team’s response,no sign of it,but when its available will lash up a link.
