im glad its not happening because he’s such a horrible man. Big sleazy baby. One of the developers that landed us in it in the recession, then huffed and puffed about not getting enough of a dig out, while families perished. Then wanted to build these towers, blocking the sun out for locals. Wrote an option piece in the paper moaning about how an bord pleanala are out to get him and thats the only reason they’re objecting to breaking planning rules. glad to see for ONCE he’s not getting his way. Im sure he’ll find comfort brining all his bought friends on his jet to Morocco. the big sleaze.

So you are happy that 1000 apartment will not now be built because you don’t like the developer? What a childish petulant response. Have you thought about running for the DCC?

-it would not even make the top ten tallest in london, but you have give to it to Johnny and Treasury they built world class buildings, would you rather a yank fund build it via some offshore tax dodge, while he liked make it rain,a lot,at least he lived and spent it in ireland.

1,000 apartments gone wow-and these are the pro growth parties, the getting things done dream team.

1000 apartments that would be out of reach to anyone on less than twice the average wage.

(Presold or forward sale to an institution).
Do you not like nice things Daisy,it’s kinda urban pioneers there, albeit not on minimal wages.

I cant help but think in this country, that somehow even though he’s been refused this development opportunity, that he’s been made a bit richer today…somehow. #ratlickaloon #justaskingQs=bad

Some background on the prior legal case which made this a fait accompli.

It’s just a big hot mess, this is one the reasons houses are so hard find, thanks FFG.

‘Since the issue of the Urban Development and Building Heights Guidelines by the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government in December 2018 (the “Guidelines”), land owners and developers are understandably anxious to know how these guidelines will apply to proposed developments of land, the subject of planning applications. The below case note sets out when a planning authority is required to apply the Guidelines and offers a solution for developers of sites for residential use in SDZs where the Guidelines have not yet been implemented.‘

DCC is now looking to increase height by amendment in North Lotts and Grand Canal SDZ.

Pre-NAMA irish builders/developers were among the best in Europe, just take a stroll around this time year the old Ritz in Powerscourt,it was absolutely world class, stunning build.

-while difficult to compare and contrast, similar in many ways,in building state the art indoor gardens,I deal with planning authorities, zoning boards, local and national politicians.Kushner just pulled off something in Ft Lauderdale, that Ronan, simply could not, where’s your pull Johnnny,FF is in power,no one want wet their beak like in the good old days,Charlie did get s*it done and built.

Now this is how’s it’s done, charvet shirts for everyone.

‘The Fort Lauderdale City Commission Tuesday night gave final approval to a rezoning that Kushner proposed for the 4.2-acre development site at 200, 300 and 520 Broward Boulevard. The zoning was changed‘

is this not a standard strategy for developers, that you apply for 25 stories but you’ll end up getting 20 upon review and resubmission?
either way, i doubt he’s fussed by the decision.

    1. Johnny

-we do it every day, only way get things built,it’s the strategy if you have the power, sucks if ya don’t, you look like a schmuck, now who wants do business with them:)

    2. Dr.Fart

he’s very fussed. a few weeks ago he wrote an opinion piece that he paid for in the papers, harping on about restrictive height laws, and how they’re all out to get him for some reason. Real big baby stuff. And that was before they even made the decision.

      1. Johnny

He lost something invaluable, the ‘belief” or trust / faith cause that’s all it is,among investors that he CAN get zoning changed, height limits limited, that’s gonna hurt a lot.

  5. Junkface

Ireland has a Bond villain after all! I call him Badger-Vajazzle. This idea needs further development, but I’m hungry now.

There’s the dead-eyed look of the vulture there all right.
        But enough of this carrion.

  6. Redundant Proofreaders Society

Whatever about the decision, RTE’s “two massive towers”…LOL!

  7. Johnny

    Oh man,it’s the Fed’s,no way,yeah the feds.

Smooth talking, dancing and making moves like a boss, once fast rising mayor on the make, how’s that one in limerick doing.

You need what a zoning change, sure….only really, really stupid people get caught.

‘BOSTON – Jasiel F. Correia II, the former Mayor of Fall River, Mass., was convicted by a federal jury today in connection with a scheme to defraud investors and extorting marijuana vendors for thousands of dollars.‘

The same people pretending to care about housing and homeless are celebrating this because they dont like Ronan. 1000 build to OWN apartments are not going to be built because of this decision to keep the docks area of Dublin a pathetic stumpy mess.

    1. Qwerty123

Agreed, sometimes you need A holes to get things done. You see there are 3 types of people in this world (add in team America monologue)

    2. Junkface

Yep, all messing aside. If it was a well planned, or well built block of apartments, without the usual corruption, then they should allow them to build. I don’t think city dwelling is going to be as attractive as it used to be, thanks to covid and lockdowns and work from home, the exodus to the countryside.

  9. Nigel

If you’re going to put up massive towers, the Docklands seems like exactly the place to do it. All those apartments right in the heart of the city? This seems like a dysfunctional decision.

I haven’t read any of the comments but I’m really pleased by this and I imagine others are too.
