Daily Star or The Weekly World News? I used to love rooting through that in our pre internet days

I’m honestly going to sit you down and show you how to not use the space bar at the end of every sentence.

Jaysus that National Trust Chief, Tim Parker, has some head of hair. It’s like the head and arse of a sheep combined.

Fingal County Council just approved a motion to approve 1,200 homes in Donabate – including 20% social housing, and another 20% affordable housing.

What a win, you say – indeed.

Passed by 31 votes in favour, 9 votes against. Who could vote against such a development, containing 40% social & affordable housing?

Why – Sinn Féin, People Before Profit, and the Social Democrats, of course.

        They really aren’t.

The deal involves the developer giving way over and above the mandated social housing provision (10% of units). The SF councillor is complaining at the notion that any private housing be built; when was the last time that SF delivered any additional units of housing, be it private, social, or affordable, for anyone?

But I just don’t understand why they don’t use the o chulainn housing model. It’s a successful model.

I genuinely don’t know enough about it, but seems to be predicated on the land being given for free/ a nominal fee, and the developers not making a profit.

While it’s great to be able to deliver housing in this way, I don’t know if it’s possible to find enough developers willing to forego their profit in order to deliver the 50k new housing units each year that we need.

Rob doesn’t let relevant facts get in the way of a FFGer rant mind you. And as usual scores an own goal.

        1. Rob_G

I’ll pose to you the same question I asked above: point out to me some additional housing units (of any type) that SF have ever delivered.

          1. GiggidyGoo

They haven’t been in Government here.
The part where you’ve been caught out is the part that mentions FFG’s sweetheart deals (in the article linked by Birdie)
Central Government dish out the funds FFG (and the green boys) are Government. They control where the money goes and who it goes to, in what sweetheart format.
Stop digging Rob for Gods sake.

Giddigy – surely you know that it’s local councils that approve housing developments? And that SF are well-represented on Dublin City Council (for example), and indeed controlled that august body for 5 years up until recently?

Again – point to one occasion where SF’s grandstanding and bluster actually led to one additional housing unit being delivered.

There is a press release from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare :

WHO has not associated the term “Indian Variant” with B.1.617, now classified as Variant of Concern
Posted On: 12 MAY 2021 12:57PM by PIB Delhi

Several media reports have covered the news of World Health Organisation (WHO) classifying B.1.617 as variant of global concern. Some of these reports have termed the B.1.617 variant of the coronavirus as an “Indian Variant”.

These media reports are without any basis, and unfounded.

This is to clarify that WHO has not associated the term “Indian Variant” with the B.1.617 variant of the coronavirus in its 32 page document.

In fact, the word “Indian” has not been used in its report on the matter.

      1. Why do you put hyphens after certain words?
      2. If validation from “this lady Veronica” makes you feel safe in your choices, that’s great, bully for you, but why do you feel the need to share?
      3. Do you think that maybe you are you just looking for attention at this point?
