    Bit of a pattern emerging- first Ferguson now Hancock- seems to be how they get rid of people over there these days- he’s toast obviously.

          To be fair, given Bojo’s record, he is in really no position to take the moral high ground. I wonder what Carrie must be thinking.

          In France though, it is expected and done with much more discretion and panache (and a two-way street). With the Tories, it’s all a bit “public school boys who can’t believe their luck”.

    If he’d quit there’d be speculation over the reasons. It might lead to people doubting the various covid regulations and the competence of the Johnson government in general. If he goes over this then I reckon this was potentially all arranged. Either way he’s compromised now. Strange that he might have to quit or be fired over this considering the disaster he’s had a hand in. Don’t go too far Matt, you’ll have to come back for the inquiries.

        What proverbial hits the fan? Are you referring to the fact they eased their restrictions too quickly and screwed around the recommend AZ protocol leaving their citizens vulnerable to the Delta variant?

          No I am referring to the growing anti lockdown / safe vaccine movement- estimated one million on the streets of London for the last one and (I think) the next is tomorrow. Doris has extended the restrictions since last of course- so this will be bigger.

          Also, was Hancock not involved in some shady poo recently?

            Still not sure what proverbial you are referring to? Hancock was outed by his erstwhile former colleagues as being useless, yes, and there was something also about shady contracts, but that was attaching to Cummins specifically as I recall.

            Well if you know the geography of London CC- which I do- the aerial shots were huge and unlikely Dublin, those streets are much wider. The BBC said a couple of thousand which probably confirms your bias better? The police remained silent of course.

            It was was directly after said march that Boris made the statement that once lockdown was lifted, he didn’t care if bodies were piling in the streets but he wasn’t going back in so- join the dots, or not.

            Next one is going to bigger, and fair play to them.

    In that picture you can clearly see that they are both wearing double masks and in fact if you look really closely you can see a really thin sheet of perspex between them.

        Plenty of overt horrors anyway, I’m not far away from Fairview and always think when i’m passing of Declan Flynn and the heinous remarks made about his murder by the piece of crap Judge who was trying the case. Utterly reprehensible how you could get away with something like that.

          +1 I still cannot believe that happened. That poor man. And a decent quiet sort too. He was a carer for his mother so his killing and the “trial” which basically saw the judge give a thumbs up to his brutal and senseless murder, hastened his mother’s own death and remains one of the lowest points in post-independence Irish legal history. The wanton cruelty defies belief.

    Hancock’s not been idle this morning. Apart from cancelling official appointments he’s also deleted an Instagram post from last night where he said he ‘works with some brilliant women’.

    That coded billet-doux evidently didn’t look such a good idea in the cold light of dawn.

Like the clientele in here are generally the first to defend the rights and the honour of anyone from somebody who wants to identify as a saucepan to the need for weed brigades. Suddenly The Sun ( The Sun ffs) newspaper says a straight white guy with power snogs a woman (who’s very very wealthy by the way) and there’s carnage! What a bunch of Molly coddled hypocrites. You’re all Joe Duffy callers in the making.

      I’d be more judgemental of the fact that while in offices and business up and down the UK and Ireland are standing two metres apart and talking to each other through Perspex and facemasks, this is what is happening in the halls of power.

      They’re laughing at us all the way to the bank.

      Even with all the examples we’ve been given of people in power not following the “rules” and more importantly- not being afraid (Golfgate RTEgate, Cummings and now Hancock), people still come on here and call people selfish and stupid for not obeying the rules.

      It’s mind boggling to be honest.

      Go on out of that – as Micko says, it’s the hypocrisy. Added to this Hancock’s wife and 3 children (1 adopted) might have a different take to yours.

      Also, you’re the first to clutch your pearls at the mere mention of a trans person or legalizing cannabis (to perhaps reduce gang crime), so that is a tad hypocritical.

      Hancock has all the charisma of a wet towel so it’s amusing to boot.

    I worked in the media, the stuff my journalist mates know would surprise many but no Irish Newspaper would ever print it. Always too much deference, which has only become worse, lately. Every now and then, in the presence of civilians, I’d let something slip, forgetting that what was common knowledge among the media set was unknown among the general population.
    Not today, though.
