whatever about adults making an informed choice and wishing to balance the risks of a vaccine against their own and others welfare, I do agree it is grotesque and imoral to vaccinate a child without knowing the long term effects, we simply cannot. I am not antivax but this must just be common sense. Would you sign your child up to be part of a trial ? Call me a rat licker if you want to, but I won’t be.

        1. italia'90

But, but, but Janet, don’t you know those unvaccinated kids are really unconvicted killers of vaccinated grannies!
          You monster.

          1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

Granny is vacinated, so hopefully that will offer her the protection promised to get her life back, she’s acting like it does anyway, there have been hugs, buses into town and all sorts

        2. GiggidyGoo

          https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/children-as-young-as-12-to-be-vaccinated-from-as-early-as-next-monthin-race-against-delta-strain-40610914.html
Who was telling us here a day or two ago that there are no plans to vaccinate children? Cian!

Janet, if the WHO, Holohan, Reid, the Pharma Companies and Donnelly assured you that there are no effects or long term affects on children, and started insisting that every child should have the vaccine in order to attend school, or to have friends over, would you change your mind?

Just so it’s not a loaded question, that’s the kind of approach that they have taken with adults.

Many have taken the exact approach as you, (as regards not being guinea pigs in a trial). Most can’t really take an informed decision, as they’re not medical people, so they’re being directed by those mentioned above.

I’ve had the vaccine by the way, uninformed, but the threat of not seeing some members of my family made the decision for me.

          1. Nigel

Most people can make an informed decision by disregarding irrelevant online wrangling and discussing it with their GP. This goes for anyone who has doubts about taking it themselves or having it given to their children

          2. Clampers Outside

There is a waiver to be signed by adults.
There will be a waiver to be singed for the kids.
The waiver is because they don’t know any long term issues that could arise.
The waiver is an explicit fact that demonstrates there is no wholly informed decision that can be named.
            That’s a fact.

          3. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

well the friends over thing is kinda hard to police, as for the back to school, I d like to think enough people would draw a line in the sand when it comes to their children’s welfare to make it unrealistic to enforce, pretty empty schools.

          4. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

does Holohan have grandkids, are they to be vacinated ?

          5. GiggidyGoo

            @Nigel.
Would you have a list of GPs we shouldn’t take advice from, or are the all singing off the same hymn sheet?

          6. Clampers Outside

The GP thing is a nonsense because of the waiver.
It can never be a fully informed decision and the waiver proves that fact.

          7. Clampers Outside

(^never… Used in context of the knowledge available and the continuance of the waiver. Obviously.)

          8. Nigel

People know their own GPs, and if their concerns are not allayed they can seek a second opinion, and continue to ignore value-free online cyncism.

          9. GiggidyGoo

            @Janet.
That’s an interesting set of questions.
            – Holohan having grandchildren, and would he insist on them taking it?
            – You could turn the other question into ‘as a parent, my kids need me, so me taking a vaccine like this could be risky. If I ended up unable to care for them due to an ill effect, would it have been worth the risk?’

          10. Bitnboxy

            @Janet https://www.timesofisrael.com/officials-to-weigh-reimposing-some-virus-restrictions-as-delta-variant-spreads/

Israel, which is still the world leader in terms of vaccination, has seen outbreaks of Delta in schools recently (via vaccinated but infectious adults). The risk to children still appears low but it has caused the government reintroduce mask wearing and consider other controls. At the moment it looks like they are proceeding to vaccinate pre-teens but have not settled on vaccinating younger than 12.

Cases are obviously rising but there is no perceptible increase in hospitalisations or mortality.

          11. Nigel

Janet – I’ve never known a grandparent who didn’t have their two cents about their grandchildren, but it’s not his decision, and unless they deliberately make the issue public, it’s the private medical issue of the prarents and the hypothetical kids.

          12. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

I look at the top heads in Facebook and they make damn sure their kids don’t have smart phones or social media accounts, it is relevant to know if he advocates what he’s selling to his nearest and dearest, after all not all grandparents are specialists advising a nation ( news to them …I know ).

          13. Nigel

I suppose you can make a case for its relevance, but it’s still private information, and I think the latter would supercede the former.

          14. Clampers Outside

But it won’t private, will it when there are vaccination cards given.

The privacy argument is a nonsense, just as it is for adults.

          15. Nigel

Do you intend to flash your vaccination card to every yahoo who demands to see it, as opposed to in certain clearly defined circumstances which will, presumably, still be covered by personal information legislation? Obviously there’s a binary at work, you either are or you aren’t, and your presence in certain environments would indicate that you are, depending on what, if any, actual restrictions are put in place, but what are you going to do, track them down and follow them around?

          16. Clampers Outside

            You’re rambling around waffleland pet.

Children, vaccination, schools…. that’s the topic isn’t it.
If kids being vaccinated becomes a thing, do you think showing that a kid is vaccinated wouldn’t be a thing?
That would make any discussion of privacy moot.
            That’s the point.

          17. Nigel

If it becomes a thing, I guess you could track down his hypothetical grandchildren and see if they’re allowed into their school or not, then jump out from behind a bush and go A-HA! I still think it comes across as an invasion of privacy, though.

          18. Nigel

‘There is a waiver to be signed by adults.
There will be a waiver to be singed for the kids.’

This has nothing to do with getting fully informed about the risks from a medical professional, though it’s sweet that the waver for the kids has to be sung.

          19. Nigel

No, a waiver doesn’t mean that, unless you think the waiver represents secret information that is being deliberately witheld.

      2. goldenbrown

so do you think the outcome here will be to exclude children from attending school if they’re not vaccinated?

I really really hope people have enough personal built-in commonsense to reject this idea entirely!

thankfully I don’t need to rely on the likes of GBN, RT or indeed RTE to weigh up matters and make decisions on ridiculous notions like this……I just hope there’s a majority of others who still think for themselves and see what a load of sinister utter bllx this is

matters are certainly taking a turn

        1. Nigel

I’d doubt it, though they might float the idea only to have it shouted down as unworkable, or let NPHET float it and then take a brave stance against it. More likely, if cases in schools start to rise after they reopen, they’ll just close the schools.

        2. scottser

The state has to give every child an education. The legislation would have to change in order to discriminate against unjabbed kids.

      3. SOQ

The CoVid-19 risk to children is practically zero. If you want children injected with an experimental vaccine so that you can feel safe, then you are humanity’s problem, not a virus. My hunch is this is not about the vaccine but the passport- that is the end game.

        1. Nigel

The progress of pandemic-truther arguments and claims over the course of this pandemic has been like watching people gradually paint themselves into a corner. Finally, once and for all, with nowhere else to go, will nobody think of the children. People in less-at-risk age groups and parents of children should consult their GPs and ignore overblown and slightly desperate online rhetoric and the vague hunches about people who have been wrong about everything.

          1. SOQ

What in God’s name does that even mean? This is a discussion board and we are entitled to discuss what ever we want.

Personally, I consider it to be child abuse and while I would have the utmost sympathy for any child who gets injured. I would have absolutely none for the parents who let it happen.

And make no mistake, by the law of averages, it is going to happen- just like everywhere else, children are going to get injured- it is absolutely disgusting.

          2. Nigel

Vaccines are child abuse, the lockdown is a crme against humanity, covid-related travel restrictions are like yellow triangles. Just because you’re entitled to say these things doesn’t mean you should.

And yes, you can usually rely on the law of averages to confirm your biases sooner or later.

          3. SOQ

Children ARE going to get injured- that is a fact. Its happening elsewhere so it will happen here. And for what? A disease which does not even affect children.

Children are to be vaccinated to protect adults- something never done in the history of medicine.

IMO, is the ultimate act of selfishness.

          4. Nigel

Like Lot pleading with God to save Sodom, so SOQ makes his case for vaccines as child abuse – Lord, if I can find but one child harmed then it counts as child abuse!

          5. SOQ

I agree U N M U T U A L but this is different- the impact could be immediate and very physically obvious. It will only take one parent to speak out about an injury and a lot of others will reconsider. It’s already happening in the US.

If this is about saving granny then go ask her. Ask her if she would want her grandchildren put at risk to protect her- you know what her answer will be.

          6. Nigel

Oh how I remember the heady early days of pandemic-trutherism when a badly misunderstood ‘herd immunity’ was the buzzword, and a willingness to let a contagious virus rage unimpeded through populations was their preferred plan; now that they have over and over again demonstrated a fundamental unseriousness they claim to want to save the children from the evil vaccine. ‘No, no, just leave me here in the corner to die, let the childer alone,’ says Granny!

          7. SOQ

How can vaccines be contributing to herd immunity if people are still transmitting ithe virus? Just look at the example given of Israel above- high numbers vaccinated and STILL outbreaks.

Community immunity is happening right now because SARS-Cov-2 has become more infectious but less serious- as coronaviruses do. Well blow be down with a feather- a coronavirus behaving like a coronavirus- who could have predicted that eh?

          8. SOQ

Do you always need to have the last word? I am bookmarking this page Nigel. I hope I am wrong but pretty sure I am not.

To dismiss the ruination of young people’s lives when there is no benefit, is contemptible- psychopathic even.

They have only settled the compo from the last one ffs, and this- will be way bigger. But sure those making the decisions won’t be paying so everything is grand.

          1. Daisy Chainsaw

What’s not a surprise is seeing antivaxx, antilockdown patsys shilling a racist’s commentary.

          2. MacGafraidh

“And for what? A disease which does not even affect children.”

Good thing those children won’t grow to be adults. Adults like those affected by the virus.. If only there was a way to reduce the impact, like some kind of vaccine..

            Wait, hold on a second…

        1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

I was wondering why people were posting that link! I thought it was supposed to represent some snide retort to ‘take it up with the management’ or something.

          1. GiggidyGoo

I thought that too. It’s actually better than the kittens one.

The kittens one was funny though.

  3. Johnny

-too toxic for GM but not for Donnelly, paying Declan Kelly, was it for off the books ‘management consulting’ and black op’s?

‘The Department of Health has hired a private company to handle PR after being accused of creating confusion around Covid.
Stephen Donnelly’s Department has taken on communications and advisory firm Teneo to help with the launch of next week’s medium-term Covid plan.”

Piece trash CEO wanted keep his job,was going lose it,in agreed upon voted upon merger,so he scuttled it with Kelly.

‘The fund claims that Cordani hired the public relations specialist Teneo, which it also names as a defendant, to scuttle the merger while making it look like Cigna was working to consummate it.

“Throughout this litigation, Cigna’s fiduciaries took pains to hide their disloyalty, such as making misleading public statements” and “proffering non-credible testimony,” according to the suit.‘

…Kelly took north tipp brown envelope politics to the big time, there is an irony in Ivy League educated over paid insecure wasps and weirdly ,some very prominent women who normally have good bs detectors, paying millions to engage him in black op’s and just shady, barely legal stuff.

Him and Donnelly must be besties, one million a month but according Coughlan in the FT,don’t worry he won’t rape anyone at the dept health’s holiday party-huh !

-I’ve seen many athletes and others ‘locked out of their minds’, as we say in Ireland,” said the former world record holder in the indoor mile: “He’s made a bit of a show of himself, but he did not kill anybody. He did not rape anybody. It was a venial sin, rather than a mortal sin.-link above.

    1. Johnny

-widely distributed Teneo UK internal memo-this deeply ingrained culture of entitlement is a reflection of Kelly and his aggressive, rules don’t apply fight club ethos,it’s just a filthy little spin shop that Donnelly has on a retainer for COVID,paid for by the irish state.

      -Subject: Office etiquette

I’m well aware that what follows only applies to a small percentage of us but as I don’t know exactly who that small % is and, as things are getting out of hand, it’s time for a word. Over the few weeks, we have had:

Someone get drunk and throw up over the carpet (they’ve apologised, but still)
Someone – I can’t put this any less bluntly – poo in the shower
Someone mess their underwear and leave it for the cleaner
A Friday bar getting completely out of hand akin to a drinking competition for a bunch of clubbing teens-

      https://order-order.com/2019/05/17/who-pooed-in-the-shower/

Probably the best deep dive-he’s no plastic paddy, they refuse reveal their clients, only through messy litigation that most companies avoid, does anyone know how completely devoid of any moral compass Kelly is,the fees and the contract agreed and paid by Donnelly, should not be shielded any longer from public scrutiny over some ‘national emergency bs”.

Interesting to listen to RTE Sunday show after 11 am this morning.

Micheál Martin is now muttering about September as the opening date, rather than July, according to an interview in the Sunday Business Post.

According to one guest, contrary to the governments statements, there still are not proper protocols at Dublin Airport, no QR checks etc – despite the rest of Europe already doing this.

Everywhere else is using antigen tests, yet according to the contractor responsible for running PCR tests, the intended date for this month is ‘optimistic’. Why is Ireland seemingly the only EU state that is using the much more expensive and vague PCR test, rather than antigen tests? Only last November Minister Donnelly said antigen tests were going to be used within weeks. Had that occurred, it seems likely that the Christmas spread of Covid would not have happened to the same extent. There is no accountability.

This is never going to end. A totally unjustified suppression of our basic human rights because of the ineptitude of the state and its agents, which is also forcing Irish owned businesses into collapse, likely to be then sold to foreign funds for a pittance. It really sticks in my craw that the politicians and senior public “servants” have received another pay increase, with €100k now basic for TDs.

Has Ireland ever had a worse government?

We are living in times of tyranny.

    1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

starting to wish I’d never left France, himself wants to take herself and go, we could buy a house for a start.

      1. goldenbrown

all this time and I thought you were either French or calling in from France…clearly not paying enough attention, my apologies
wtf were you thinking coming here tho ;) ??
I spent a few happy years over yonder (Isère) for work and I defo know where I’m finishing things out if I can make it stick atall!!

        1. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

I spent 18 years there so pretty much my entire adult life, my Dad was unwell and I wanted to be here for him, he’s now made a full recovery and the exit light is starting to shine bright. I have really struggled with readjusting to life here and I said I’d give it time but I think I have been gone too long and find many many things frustrating here.

          1. goldenbrown

oh I’m sorry to hear that Janet but glad he’s pulled through it and on the right road now, I’m sure you made all the difference.

I hear what you’re saying about living here, especially when you’ve tasted something else…the oul green sod trope is just a killer for me, have regrets of my own to fix but right now I have a family member in her late 20’s who raced home from a half decent setup over in oz right at the very start of the thing (she got caught up in the whole green jersey IT letters from abroad type boo boo, didn’t talk to anyone at home first either really) and is now bitterly regretting it…in the mindset currently that she shafted herself, just stuck in her old bedroom and waiting to undo her mistake and get away out of it again. we’ve tried to sympathise and help as much as we can, tis tough on her but life is gonna be full of lessons, it’s what she does next that counts is what we keep saying anyway but sometimes I wonder if that just makes it worse. hm.

          2. Janet, dreams of an alternate universe

in a way she has done herself a favor, she has answered the question while she is still young as to if she would want to come back,
onward and outahere, I always said I’d never come back, I often feel like I just don’t fit in or say ” the right” things, I got told my child and I looked like a Mark’s and Spenser’s add on a walk the other day, I’m not sure it was a compliment haha, (the stuck in her old bedroom one is tough).

          3. SOQ

At least it wasn’t a Lidl ad Janet- you’d have GO’D outside the flat protesting. LOL

  5. Johnny

Grand so,that’s all cleared up right,I mean he’s on the record he’s aware and responsible for what this govt does,he’s not just another hopeless drunk FF leader ?

-Mr Martin prompted more confusion yesterday when he suggested Teneo would not be involved in Tuesday’s launch.

“That PR firm isn’t directly dealing with the Government-wide launch of the Covid plan,” Mr Martin told RTÉ’s The Week in Politics. –

Further inquiries reveal…why is he on the record trying distance himself from BFF‘s Kelly & Donnelly, who signed this secret contract,SF ?

-However, a spokesperson for the Department of Health told the Irish Examiner that the PR company have been taken on to work on the launch-

Covid-19: Masks will become personal choice, says Robert Jenrick

England will move into a period without legal restrictions where the public will have to exercise “personal responsibility” including on face masks, the housing secretary has said.

Robert Jenrick told the BBC’s Andrew Marr people would “come to different conclusions” over masks, but he trusted people “to exercise good judgement”.

All legal restrictions are expected to be lifted in England on 19 July.

I’m quite enjoying the Euros. 3/4 very exciting games. However, I do feel the standard is poor and there’s largely a lack of atmosphere in the stadiums. All the teams look jaded and no superstars lighting the tournament up. I fancied the Italians until they started acting the injured drama queens in the last 10 mins. It all seems set up for Engerland. They’ve played all their games (bar one) in their own back yard and had by far the easier side of the draw. Ukraine were appalling and looked dead on their feet after 20 minutes of last night game. Surely they won’t poo themselves again with such an easy passage being handed to them?
