A bit of wider context: The results of a 6 month study undertaken by researchers at Kings College London were recently published in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health Journal. The study gained coverage in various media outlets on the 4th of August. The study’s conclusion was that long covid is uncommon in children
eg. https://www.rte.ie/news/2021/0804/1238916-long-covid-uncommon-in-children-experts-claim/
Of course it’s hardly a coincidence that the alarmist headline of “30,000” appears just a day or two after the KCL report gained attention.
But the “30,000” claim is an extrapolated figure based on just 4 weeks of ONS survey data whereas the KCL research was done over a 6 month period. Furthermore, the KCL research only included children with confirmed positive Covid test results, but looking at the ONS questionaire (https://www.ndm.ox.ac.uk/files/coronavirus/covid-19-infection-survey/crf4participantenrolmentvisitv11-020210607.pdf), those who “think they have had Covid-19” without having had a test are also invited to fill in the survey. They’re given a range of various symptoms to tick off including “Low mood/not enjoying anything”, “Worry /Anxiety” “Headache” “Difficultly concentrating” “Loss of appetite”.
We know that long covid exists, but just how meaningful is this data? Seems to me it’s being used as an attempt to “manufacture consent” for the mass vaccination of children when the case isn’t really there.
Cian
While the lancet report said ” long covid is uncommon in children”, it is still there in 2% of cases.
There are 800,000 under 12s in Ireland; if a quarter get Covid = 200,000 and 2% of that get long covid == 4,000.
Mr T
Have to account that children are much less likely to get covid (the disease) in the first place.
2% of children with covid symptoms (i.e. clinical COVID, the disease) will get “long covid”.
But how many children who encounter the virus will develop COVID in the first place?
Over the last two week there will be 70 children that will suffer long Covid.
E'Matty
@Cian. From the same study “Senior author Emma Duncan, professor of clinical endocrinology at King’s College London, said: “We know from other studies that many children who catch coronavirus don’t show any symptoms at all and it will be reassuring for families to know that those children who do fall ill with Covid-19 are unlikely to suffer prolonged effects.
“However, our research confirms that a small number do have a long illness duration with Covid-19, though these children too usually recover with time.”
So, Covid now around 18 months plus. What percentage suffers Long Covid 6 months, 12 months, 18 months later?
The Long Covid in kids argument really isn’t stacking up as a counter balance to the already known possible severe adverse effects from vaccination. In fact, the media have only really pushed it heavily once the kids became the next target group for vaccination.. Little bit of fear conditioning to coerce the herd. Tired with no sense of smell, or maybe shortness of breathe for 6 months or life threatening blood clot or heart inflammation? Hmmmm.
Remember, these vaccines are causing these serious adverse reactions in adult’s bodies. Adults bodies and brains are fully developed (unlike kids and teens in puberty). If many adult bodies struggle to cope with these vaccines, administering the very same vaccines, in the very same dosage to kids, is just complete lunacy. It’s sad, but it will be the most trusting and innocent in society who will potentially cause serious harm to their own child based on a delusional belief in the threat of Long Covid and this illusory nonsense of “protecting the elderly”. Kids as human shields for 85 year olds already dying with Parkinsons or of cancer or similar. What a progressive society.

Are we back to regular early morning posts by Cian giving questionable data again? There was a two month+ non-stop bombardment last year of figures for people admitted to hospital due to covid. The figures consistently questioned as to their accuracy by many here as well as the method of calculation. Figures defended to the last by Cian, only to be eventually discounted by Boss Varadkar.
Now we are back to more questionable figures being thrown out as soon as the front pages are put up, and the production of them slowly building into a Cian Crescendo.

I can’t believe it’s already a year since that massive explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. Saw a documentary about it the other day. It’s truly a failed state. They had 2 terms of leadership who were warned that the port warehouses were in danger of exploding and they did nothing! It’s just crazy. They should all be investigated and possibly arrested.
Man On Fire
Or maybe Israel blew it up.

Nope. It was an old stock of imported explosives from Georgia and some related equipment shipped from an African country, I think it was Mozambique or Tanzania. Years of political corruption was the key factor.
Man On Fire
Political corruption blew up those explosives, lol..
They are different incidents. Those articles do not say that Israel blew up Beirut port last year in one of the biggest explosions ever in the middle east. It was well known in Lebanon Gov’t that the warehouse was a ticking time bomb due to a massive stock of explosives stored close to a stock of fireworks.
Israel’s military are heavy handed and aggressive in the region, but they are not the culprit here.
And it’s just been reported today that Hezbollah have fired missiles at Israel today from Lebanon. So now Israeli fighter jets are bombing those missile sites in Lebanon.

Scientists Horrified by Growing “Dead Zone” in Ocean
“More and more, the evidence really points strongly to climate change as being a factor.”
The destruction of forest due to wildfires is a global phenomenon in countries with different climatic conditions and types of vegetation. Is, and always has been.
Pine forests (for instance) need sporadic fires in order for seeds to be released from cones and to sprout as well.
Not all is ‘climate change’. Greece and the northern Mediterranean have always had massive forest fires. It was calculated that over a five year period in the 70s/80s, forestry equivalent to the size of Belgium had been destroyed due to fires.
Nigel
‘Half of all attribution studies focus on heatwaves, according to Mitchell. Heatwaves are relatively easy to attribute because they are “very certain and the first response to climate change” and cover a large area, which makes it easier for climate models to pick up, said Mitchell.’
‘Last month was worst July for wildfires on record, say scientists’
‘Last week, the heat intensity from fires in Turkey was four times higher than the previous daily national record. So far this year, 128,000 hectares (316,000 acres) have burned – eight times higher than the average, according to the European Forest Fire Information System.’
‘The number of large fires in Europe continues to increase and vulnerable area are widening, according to the EU’s Disaster Risk Management Unit. “The area affected by fires is expanding in Europe, no longer limited to the Mediterranean countries,” said Jesús San-Miguel-Ayanz, a scientist with the unit. Underscoring this trend, in Finland there has also been a sharp rise in wildfires this summer.’
‘Europe sets on fire each summer, especially around the Mediterranean. On average, about 1500 square miles of the E.U. burn every year. But last year fires burned nearly three times that much, killing 66 people in Portugal and Spain and stretching the firefighting efforts and budgets thin across the continent. “In 2018, we are observing an expansion of the areas that are at risk, with fires occurring in countries where wildfires were not so common in the past,” says Jesús San-Miguel, a researcher at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.’

They had 2 terms of leadership who were warned that the port warehouses were in danger of exploding and they did nothing! It’s just crazy. They should all be investigated and possibly arrested.
Or maybe Israel blew it up.
Nope. It was an old stock of imported explosives from Georgia and some related equipment shipped from an African country, I think it was Mozambique or Tanzania. Years of political corruption was the key factor.

“They are different incidents. Those articles do not say that Israel blew up Beirut port last year in one of the biggest explosions ever in the middle east.”
The article is meant to highlight that a certain country has form in bullying and attacking Lebanon.
” It was well known in Lebanon Gov’t that the warehouse was a ticking time bomb due to a massive stock of explosives stored close to a stock of fireworks. ”
Spin for warnings from Israel.
Who made the documentary you watched, BBC?
“The article is meant to highlight that a certain country”
Should be countries – Israel, Syria, and Turkey…
Turkey, Syria.. rofl

You’re way off @ManOnFire. There has been so many conflicts between Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza etc, that you have to be particular about which one you are referring to. There is proof and investigative video covering what happened in the Beirut port explosion. Here is the doc:

You provided proof of nothing, just speculation.

You have posted a lot of links here that fail to, er, link Israel to the explosion.
I said Israel “might” have been involved.

The links I posted were to counter the narrative that JF asserted.
Yeah, you rely a lot on mights and maybes.
As should everyone in this age of misinformation and agenda driven “opinion”.
…the zionists are bombing Lebanon as we speak…no maybes or mights…with total impunity because there will be no outcry…they have a vested interest in precipitating turmoil in the Middle East…
‘As should everyone in this age of misinformation and agenda driven “opinion”.’
I actualy think that makes it worse. You want to be more rigorous, not less.
Makes what worse?
Misinformation and agenda-driving.
And how exactly have I made it worse?
Bearing in mind I’m appealing for open mindedness and critical thinking throughout this discussion.
Prioritising speculation over evidence.
And this evidence is?
Absent.
So what’s your point then?
Speculation is no substitute for evidence.
And what is this evidence Nigel?
…evidently, Sleepy Joe intends carrying on where Obama left off…bombing Somalia…a new war already?
For an Israeli strike? Non existent.
…agree with Nigel…absolutely no evidence of zionist involvement…other than…circumstantial…their MO…
‘Companies luring staff back to office through their stomachs’
Missing the ole canteen alright. Making lunch takes too big a chunk out of lunch hour.
I am so sick of making lunches. Even thinking of what to buy in the supermarket. I’m heading back to the office building next week. Normal lunchtimes will resume! I’m lucky my workplace is in an area with lots of world cuisine available, and good lunch deals.
I’m sick of making lunches for a fussy salade skirter stay at home eater
Homeworkers have gone one of two ways I expect. Those who cooked and ate what I call good food- meaning nutritious- and those who stuffed their gobs with all sorts of rubbish, out of boredom.
Personally I would be in the first group and have fallen in love with oats. Oats with grated raw carrots and natural yogurt baked as bread is my staple now. Gluten free too.
Substitute chickpea water for yogurt as a binder, and you have a vegan alternative.
More good news, everybody.

Anyway.

Underscoring this trend, in Finland there has also been a sharp rise in wildfires this summer.’
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/06/last-month-worst-july-wildfires-since-2003?CMP=twt_a-environment_b-gdneco

Abhorrent what that scumbag inflicted on that poor girl, what an horrific way to die. Reading that he will receive the maximum sentence of life imprisonment doesn’t somehow seen like justice. What an odious, cowardly individual he is. I wish him and his “well conditioned knuckles” (his description not mine) nothing but torment for the rest of his days.
More new revelations on the lab leak theory and covid 19 origins going back to Sept 2019 in Wuhan, China. The USA also decided to setup up a financial reward system for Chinese lab workers turned whistleblowers, although I’m not sure how that would be managed without the CCP finding out first and kidnapping whistleblowers. Its getting a lot more interesting.

Are the CDC now actually saying that the vaccinated are just as likely to spread SRAS-CoV-2 as the unvaccinated???

If this is true then it blows the whole vaccine passport thing out the window.
No they’re not.
