Gulp.

Last night.

Gardaí in Portlaoise seized over €2.1 million worth of MIND-Altering cannabis herb cunningly concealed in a delivery of vegetables, as part of Operation Tara. One person was arrested during the search operation and is currently detained under drug trafficking legislation in the hope they might ‘spill the beans’.

The streets are a little safer this morning.

Headline should read: Gardai seized what THEY figured to be €2.1 million in cannabis.

Street value probably significantly less but they do like to make themselves look good.

    Plods be plodding.

Lol … I love the line from The Guard when Gleeson says to Don Cheadle after he applies a street value of 8 million dollars to a haul of coke :-

“I wonder what street it is you’re buying your cocaine on, because it’s not the same street as I’m buying my cocaine on.”

Yep, I remember that alright! :)

However I was told by a senior Garda years before that in some cases they just see what the going rate is for say, a 4 gram bag of weed (or whatever drug it might be) and then just calculate it that way, but that does not take into account that the small bag on sale does not scale back up to large volumes so they massively over inflate the price.

Why I asked him, the answer being that it ‘sounds better’. Plods, never not plodding.

plods be plodding indeed. They always measure this stuff to the ablosute maximum street prices. street should have nothing to do with the amount here. ok it’s high, put they should be charged with it after weight and not sell on price. legalize & regulate.

Described as ‘cannabis herb’ on the radio today, is that a just dog whistle weasel words now for industrial or smokeable hemp?

Where’s our resident expert when you need them?
