This morning.
Kildare Street, Dublin 2.
Paddy Driver (top) and his son Reece (pic 2) and daughter Savannah (above), of the Mica Action Group, deliver mica-affected building blocks from homes in Donegal to Dail Eireann. Victims whose homes have been destroyed by the defective concrete are demanding 100 per cent redress from the government.
Meanwhile…
No tighter man to test a block's strength than @MHealyRae
If he weren't into the politics I'd have him on the building site first thing in the morning
Look at the state of those blocks hi#MicaRedress #MicaProtest pic.twitter.com/ZV7uSSi5Yd

Why is this up to the government (i.e. the taxpayer) to solve?
Ah here, government of the people. I’m not even remotely affected but 100% for the Gov to help out regular folks who have had their lives/finances fupped by just trying to put a roof over their heads, and through absolutely no fault of their own.
We had the money for Anglo….
+1
It’s the right thing to do.
What Ferg said!
100% TheFerg, I as a tax payer am more than happy to see MY tax money go to helping these people and I know everyone I am close to agrees with that as well.
However we all know why the real culprits are not being pursued though.
+1 Spot on
do you keep this question in Notepad and Ctrl-C Ctrl-V it in everytime the subjectmatter rears it’s head on BS?
lol
you full well know why
Is it not the government’s responsibility to ensure those operating a business within the republic are conforming to the legislation. A 100% redress seems excessive but there is a case to answer.
how the cassidy brothers is still in business is a disgrace
who is buying blocks off them
europe needs to allow for class action law suits
Good suggestion texted in to Claire Byrne just now: redress amounts should be capped at whatever value the homeowners have registered their houses with Revenue for the property tax
but that will (should) include the land value too.
100% redress will only be demolish & rebuild cost. should be less than the property tax figure
id say the houses themselves are worth about zero in their current state
pretty stupid suggestion
If it was Claire Byrne listener then stupid suggestions are to be expected.
Why else would anyone listen to that biased thick?
I hope they have valued their worthless houses at a valuation of €0
Also, I suspect that suggestion came from the mind of Claire Byrne, sounds like her style.
This is all part and parcel of FFG’s failure to implement proper protection for the Citizens of Ireland, not just in this case but pretty much in all walks of life, except for themselves and their buddies.
Look at the TDs rich list and ask where did the wealth of Michael Lowry, Simon Coveney and Sean Haughey originate from?
Then look at Vradkar, a man who worked as a doctor for only 4 years, living in a modest 2 bed apartment which was in negative equity in 2018, is actually a millionaire. Favours made favours received?
I’m sure he is a driver, but his second name is Diver.
tom parlon on rte radio there, was asked if the members he represents were implicated in the mica scandal, to which he advised that the affected houses were predominantly self-builds.
they just can’t be arsed thinking up an even half-credible lie any more.
He’s a gas ladypart
Lady parts perform a vital service, Tom Parlon doesn’t. So please, go easy on the lady parts and don’t be associating them with that sewer dweller!
Did the block layers not cop that they were building with a substandard product?
No, they don’t look any different at that point. Mica is a mineral that attracts moisture which will then lead to the disintegration of the block.
