   To be honest i thought the tent under the tree was the “story” until i saw the deer. I then realised that we have become inured to the idea that someone living in a tent in the city is “normal.” Pretty sad state of affairs.

      The real story is 300m down the road from this poor chap’s tent, at the Dublin Regional Homelessness Executive.
      That building adjoins a row of five, massive, derelict Georgian houses – owned by Dublin Bus; being allowed to fall down.
      Those buildings, and 100s more like them in the city centre are crumbling testaments to how serious Housing For All, Rebuilding Ireland and all that twaddle is.

         Couldn’t agree more.

         Buildings are there to be occupied and put to use.

         The State has managed to devolve and outsource core functions to the “market” rather than wielding power on the part of the fundamental, accepted basic rights of the citizen.

         I know the buildings you are talking about, and I totally agree.

         CIÉ are a huge land hoarder- the state within the state as it were.

         There is also some buildings across from the criminal courts which are state owned and rarely if ever used.

         Twaddle is absolutely the best term for pretty much all state-led policies, strategies and plans.
